Steve joined the board in 2016. He is currently the Health Officer for the Central Michigan District Health Department. Previous to this, he served as the Interim Health Officer and Environmental Health Director for the Jackson County District Health Department. He earned his bachelors degree from Ferris State University and his masters degree from Independence University, California College of Health Sciences. He resides in the central Michigan area with his wife and two daughters.
Phyllis joined the board in 2016. She is the Senior Fellow and Advisor for The Kresge Foundations Health Team. Her professional experience includes serving as the Associate Dean for Public Health Practice and Clinical ProfessorHealth Management and Policy for the University of Michigan School of Public Health. She holds both a bachelor and master of science degree in nursing and a PhD in sociology from Wayne State University.
Jerry joined the board in 2017. He is the Administrative Health Officer for the Marquette County Health Department. Jerry holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration-Accounting from Michigan Technological University and a Masters of Public Administration from Northern Michigan University. He received a Graduate Certificate in Public Health from Michigan State University in May 2017.
Denise joined the board in 2013. She served as Associate Dean for Government Relations and Outreach at Michigan State University. She also served as Director of the Plan Administration and Customer Services Bureau for the Medical Services Administration within the Michigan Department of Community Health. Denise is retired and resides in Boyne City with her husband, Steve.
Ron joined the board in 2016. He has extensive experience in the areas of legislative and political/fundraising strategy. Ron also spent several years as the Director of Marketing & New Business with a Michigan-based, nationally recognized real estate operating company before going back to Lansing where he joined a multi-client lobbying firm. Today, he is owner of the lobbying and public affairs firm Khoury Johnson Leavitt.
Jason joined the board in early 2019. He is Vice President of Health Finance at Michigan Health & Hospital Association and a demonstrated leader with nearly 20 years of healthcare expertise. Jason has focused on research, program evaluation, data analysis, financial modeling, strategic planning, policy development, and program implementation. His experience spans public programs and commercial insurance.
Sue joined the board in 2019. She has over thirty years of experience in health policy and program administration in both the public and private sectors. She retired from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services in September 2018, where she served as the Director of the Population Health Administration. Sue also was the Director of the Medicaid Program Operations Bureau at the Michigan Department of Community Health. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Public Health.
Bill joined the board in 2019. He retired as the Director/Health Officer of the Health Department of Macomb County in December of 2020. For over 30 years, Bill hasdevoted his career to the service of public health. He holds a Master of Business Administration from Wayne State University, a Master of Public Health from the University of Minnesota, in addition to a Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition from the University of Michigan.
Our nonprofit dental centers partner with local health departments to offer the best in patient-centered, full-service care from regular checkups and cleanings to ongoing treatments. These valued partnerships allow MCDC to serve nearly 88,000 patients at 34 dental centers throughout Michigan annually.

My experience at My Community Dental Centers was great. I was so scared and they were so professional and this will be the only dentist I will ever go to from now on. They were honest with what was gonna happen and made me feel comfortable and content. They are super great!

Crown came off. Needed appointment asap. They fit me in the next morning and quickly fixed my crown. The staff here is always friendly, responsive, professional and competent.

2 appointments were cancelled simply because I did not confirm them, however they do not tell you until you drive all the way there for your appointment. Even though I had made an arrangement with a manager prior that due to hardship, I could "confirm" on day I made appointment. I was told that manager was no longer there and information had not been passed on. No apology, no kindness, and absolutely no empathy for my situation. I made another appointment asap as I am in pain. I called day of appointment to confirm I was coming as I was 10 minutes late d/t construction and heavy rain. I am also handicapped and use a cane. I was told she would have to see if I could still be seen. She came back and said I could sit and wait to see if I could end up being seen or reschedule. I told her I was in pain, & she responded "you & everybody else". After an hour and a half she told me everyone else had kept their "scheduled" appointments today so did I want to reschedule. I asked for the first available, which she said was almost 2 months away. I left and do not want to be seen there again. The recording on the MCDH phone line references a "pleasant and stress free experience where people are their priority" HA, that's funny.

I had to wait 6 minutes to get checked in I my appointment was for 140 I got there at 130 if it would have took Amy longer to chekc me in they would have said i missed my appointment they need to get more help or help people that are waiting to be checked in first then help the other people waiting to get there next appointment. It would not have been fair if I would have to wated longer 6 minutes is ridiculous

Worth the wait.....as a new patient the first available opening for an appointment was months away, which made me consider other dentists who may have earlier openings. It's understandable the great reviews MCDC-Cedar Springs receives having experienced the fantastic service first hand. I filled out the simple online "new patient" form. Nicole and Jaimy, in administration/front office, were the first individuals I communicated with. They were great in assisting me with getting an appointment for my son, months ahead of the initial appointment. Both informed and encouraged me to call in regularly to see if a slot opened due to a cancellation, which is on a fcfs basis. It is apparent both Jaimy and Nicole are caring, empathetic, and truly dedicated to assisting others, whether one is a client, soon to be client, or not. Katie, our dental hygienist, was amazing! By far one of the most efficient and dedicated individuals I've met in any field. She understood and accommodated for my son's unique needs, totally making him at ease, which likely is difficult for any child being at a dentist for their first time. Dr. Carmody quickly and expertly determined the work needed. Katie immediately helped in setting up a consultation for a more thorough and specialized examination for the recommended work. She gave multiple options, provided times and locations of available specialists, although some were not directly affiliated with MCDC, so I would have greater flexibility. She sent/made a referral for a different dentist that I chose as they had earlier openings. I received a referral call to set up an appointment within an hour of leaving MCDC-Cedar Springs which was astonishing. Witnessing MCDC-Cedar Springs go out of their way to make accommodations for my son, assisting throughout the process, looking out for our best interests.....not only was it worth the wait but it was absolutely the right decision. Thank you to the entire staff at MCDC-Cedar Springs. If you are searching for a dentist, I highly recommend and thank MCDC-Cedar Springs.
