  • Dr. Musgrave knows how to correct all kinds of orthodontic problems from the very simple, to the very complex tooth movements, to the more advanced surgical cases. In fact, many times general dentists and even orthodontists will refer their most difficult orthodontic and TMJ (jaw joint) cases to Dr. Musgrave. One should note that even if a doctor is board certified, it is important to ask other people their opinions on a doctors ability to achieve your desired result rather than relying solely on their board certification status.
  • Educated by two masters in orthodontics: Dr. J. Daniel Subtelnyauthor of the textbookEarly Orthodontic Treatment, and Dr. Karl S. Musgraveprevious Chairman of the Orthodontic Department at the Ohio State University and former partner in private practice with Dr. Subtelny.
  • Dr. Musgrave really enjoys the positive responses of patients as beautiful changes occur in their dental appearance and of his TMJ patients as they experience relief from their painful symptoms as treatment progresses.
  • Growing up in Rochester, New York, Dr. Musgrave moved to Delaware, Ohio his junior year of high school and graduated from Delaware Hayes. He enrolled at Ohio Wesleyan University where he played on the nationally ranked soccer team. Also, he played clarinet in the Central Ohio Symphonic Orchestra.
  • On the weekends, Dr. Musgrave regularly attends and serves at The Dream Center providing breakfast and spiritual counsel to the homeless and under-served community at Rock City Church in downtown Columbus.
  • No. All orthodontists must be licensed to practice, but at this time only 1 in 3 orthodontists have continued on to become a board certified orthodontist. The American Board of Orthodontics (ABO) certification process signifies a unique achievementa significant step beyond the two to three years of advanced education required for a dentist to become a specialist in orthodontics. The process requires the orthodontist to demonstrate actual accomplishments in patient care with detailed case reports on the treatment provided for a broad range of patient problems. Board certification is a voluntary achievement that all orthodontists do not choose to pursue. In order to become board certified by the ABO, an individual orthodontist is thoroughly interviewed by a highly respected panel of examiners to demonstrate their orthodontic knowledge, clinical skills and judgment.

One. The American Board of Orthodontics (ABO) is the only certifying board in the specialty that is recognized by the American Dental Association. The ABO was founded in 1929 and is the oldest specialty board in dentistry. The boards purpose is to elevate the quality of orthodontic care for the public by promoting excellence through certification, education and professional collaboration.

Successful completion of the examination process demonstrates the orthodontists highest commitment to excellence in orthodontics to both the orthodontic profession and the general public. It represents a commitment by a licensed specialist that he/she has the necessary knowledge base and skills to treat patients to the highest of standards. It exemplifies a practitioners commitment to continue to keep abreast of the latest advances in patient care, and to continue to deliver these latest advances to patients. Many orthodontists see it as a demonstration of their dedication to the specialty and the highest level of personal achievement.

Since the establishment of the ABO in 1929, the certification process requirements have continued to adjust to the demands of the specialty. Today, the process involves a thorough Written Examination (240 questions) covering all areas of information which an orthodontist should be knowledgeable. Successful completion of this board exam allows the orthodontist to proceed to the Clinical Examination where they present detailed case reports from their practice/residency, demonstrating a history of excellence in patient care. These cases are evaluated by a panel of examiners and later discussed during an oral examination where the applicant is tested on a wide variety of academic and clinical topics. After successful completion of these examinations, the orthodontist has officially achieved Board Certification, for a time-limited period. The orthodontist must go through Certification Renewal every 10 years to maintain their certification status by demonstrating this continued level of patient care.

  • I have held several positions in the orthodontic office. I was trained as an assistant initially, and then moved to the front office as a receptionist. At this time, my main responsibility is being the financial coordinator.
  • Hello, my name is Judy and I have been in the dental field since 1964! I first worked in oral surgery for 15 years and then moved into orthodontics. I have been the office manager for Dr. Mark Musgrave and his father for over 30 years.
  • When not in the office, I like spending time with my husband and kids, camping, listening to music, crafting, physical fitness, playing games, church, and spending quality time with my many nieces and nephews.
  • Hello, my name is Jenny and I am a clinical assistant for Musgrave Orthodontics. I graduated from Ridgedale High School and grew up in the Marion area. After high school, I graduated from the First Impressions Dental Assisting School.
  • I have been a part of the Musgrave Orthodontic team since 2014. I love working for Dr. Musgrave, enjoy our staff, and all the wonderful patients we have I like making fun memories and great friendships.
  • I also enjoy being a part of the process to give each patient the beautiful smile they have always wanted. Observing such a great transformation in a patient is such a rewarding feeling, especially seeing their joy after looking at their new smile for the first time.
  • Dedicated, experienced, and knowledgeable staff. Our orthodontic team has personnel employed by Dr. Musgrave spanning between 2 and 30 years. Our office staff has had a very low turnover rate because they enjoy their responsibilities and working for Dr. Musgrave. An experienced staff is a benefit to a patients overall treatment.
  • Dr. Musgrave has been an orthodontist for over 25 years and chooses to do the right treatment, at the right time, to create beautiful smiles. The majority of our cases are treatedwithout removal of permanent teeth. Also, many patients who have been told that jaw surgery is needed to correct their bite, have been successfully treated non-surgically by Dr. Musgrave.
  • Dr. Musgrave is a board certified orthodontist who utilizes new technologies yet knows how to implement the tried and true methods of the past. Orthodontics is more than placing brackets and aligning the teeth, its about engineering faces or treating the whole face for the best esthetic result possible, not just straightening teeth.
  • Dr. Musgrave spent a year treatingonlypatients with TMJ (jaw joint) problems at the Eastman Dental Center in Rochester NY, and has successively treated hundreds of patients relieving them of their TMJ and facial pain
  • Our staff members are very nice and welcoming people you can trust. In fact, the entire staff has had orthodontic treatment by Dr. Musgrave so they know how it feels to have braces and can be more compassionate to provideyou with better care.
  • Patient Rewards Program patients can acquire points for having good brushing, good dental check ups, not having loose braces, etc., which can be redeemed for gift cards at their favorite stores or restaurants.

Dr. Musgrave took care of my teeth, my whole families teeth for that matter, roughly 15 years ago. Mom, siblings, and myself all have beautiful smiles because of him & his team. Two weeks ago my permanent retainer came off and I scheduled and got in immediately. Less than an hour in I had my retainer back on, and no more anxiety about a shifting smile. I wouldn't trust anyone else with my smile.

Great experience! Adult braces patient. Improved my bite better than I thought possible. Wonderful staff and office folks make for a fun and sunny visit. Easy payment plan takes the sting out. Dr. Mark really is a master of his craft.

I reached out to Dr. Musgrave after my wife told me that I was grinding my teeth at night. Dr. Musgrave's office was able to get me in very quickly for an evaluation. They got me fitted for a bite plate to prevent the grinding and followed up to ensure it was fitting properly. I have noticed i no longer have any jaw pain/soreness due to wearing my bite plate each night. The bite plate is very minimal. After having worn it for a couple months I hardly noticed it. Initially I believed it would hinder my sleep, but now i realized it actually helps me (due to preventing my grinding). Everyone in the office from the receptionist to Dr. Musgrave and his assistants were very personable and professional. They worked with my dental insurance company to sort everything out the insurance billing. It was an overall great experience to treat something I had been putting off. The only regret I have is that I didn't go to them sooner. I would highly recommend Musgrave Orthodontics for any TMJ issues.

I am being treated for TMJ by Dr. Musgrave. I was having pain in my jaw, but had no idea what was going on. When I found out that his practice treated TMJ, I called for an appointment. His staff got me in right away. When I arrived for my first visit, I found the staff to be professional, warm and caring. Dr. Musgrave created an appliance I wear at night and sometimes during the day. I can say that since being treated, my TMJ pain has almost completely gone away (I need to wear my appliance more, its not Dr. Musgrave's fault). As I continue in my therapy, I see that the care I got on my first visit continues. The staff is awesome, the office is clean and comfortable and they help me with all my billing to my insurance company. I would recommend this practice to anyone and have total confidence that their care will be just as incredible as mine.

I got the Clear Correct braces which were very convenient n didn't look like I had braces on. Really liked them compared to traditional braces. The monthly payment plan was nice too. The staff are very kind n friendly. I really liked Dr. Musgrave n his secretary Judy:) They did such a good job! Very pleased with the results. Highly recommend them:)
