Dr. Murfree has created a positive environment where his patients can feel like they are part of the family. Through extensive training and continuing education, Dr. Murfree works to find new ways to care for his patients by providing the most current treatment with minimal discomfort. He enjoys creating beautiful smiles and enhanced self-esteem for patients of all ages.
Born and raised in Murfreesboro, Dr. Murfree returned home to serve his local community, the home to generations of his family dating back to the Revolutionary War hero, Colonel Hardy Murfree, for whom the town was named. While participating in mission work, Dr. Murfree realized his love for medicine and a special interest in the dental profession.
Dr. Murfree graduated from the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Dr. Murfree then attended the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry, where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree in 2007.
Dr. Murfree has earned his Fellowship, Master's, and Diplomat degrees from the International Dental Implant Association in Advanced Level Implant Training and Grafting. These distinctions result from hundreds of hours of expert training and leadership through Implant Seminars, Inc., under the direction of the world-renowned and respected leader in the implant industry, Dr. Arun Garg.
In addition to his dental implant training, Dr. Murfree is certified in oral conscious sedation, Invisalign, Lumineers, Six-Month Smiles. He earned his Associate Fellowship in Dental Lasers from the World Clinical Laser Institute and has received advanced training and education in cosmetic dentistry, preventative dentistry, endodontics (root canals), oral surgery, orthodontics, and prosthodontics.
By spending hundreds of hours participating in continuing education courses each year, Dr. Murfree has excelled in the latest advances in cosmetic, general, implant, laser, and preventative dentistry, as well as treatment of obstructive sleep apnea.
Dr. Murfree is a member of the American Dental Association, Tennessee Dental Association, American Association of Dental Sleep Medicine, American Academy of Implant Dentistry, American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, International Dental Implant Association, DOCS Oral Conscious Sedation Society, and the Academy of General Dentistry.
Dr. Murfree enjoys caring for his patients as well as those less fortunate locally and internationally. Recent trips to Haiti and the Dominican Republic have been some of the most rewarding experiences of his career. He also loves to serve and contribute to the Interfaith Dental Clinic located here in Murfreesboro.

Dr. Murfree is the best dentist I've ever seen. He understands that I'm completely terrified of getting dental work and he works hard to keep me calm. His dental assistants and other staff are the nicest people. They truly care about me. I highly recommend Dr. Murfree.

Dr. Murfree and his staff were so incredibly kind at my appointment Monday. I went in with my teeth a mess. There was no scolding or judgement. I had lost my dental insurance 6 years ago with my divorce, and had basically neglected my teeth. They all understood "Life Happens" and were just focused on getting me back on track, making me a treatment plan that was more affordable than I expected. I can't recommend this dentist enough! Great people and a wonderful experience!

Going to a dentist office is not something I'm looking forward but been with Heather and at Dr. Murfree's office makes the visit much more pleasant and enjoyable. The personal service is A+ and attention been the best. This is a dental office that really cares for the well-being of their patients and not looking for their personal financial welfare by looking for issues you might not really need.

Best crew in town.. John and his staff are professional, respectable & great at what they do.. Something I must also mention though is that unlike other offices I've been to, I actually enjoy going here! John is a great guy, but also hires people that you would actually want to hang out with outside of the visit lol. They befriend you instead of treating you as a number..

I am not a patient of Dr. Murfree , but he was kind enough to repair my veneer as a favor for my dentist . This was done on the very same day that I called his office on short notice. I appreciate his care and professionalism. He did a great job with the repair.

Great dentist and have been going for a few years. Been to a few others in my lifetime and they are one of the few that was able to get my teeth fixed with minimal hassle or recommending dentures. Not sure if they are the cheapest but they can do what no other dentist was willing to do in the area.

AWESOME! Dr. Murfree and his staff are awesome, friendly and caring people. I think they are open 3 days a week which in my opinion is why Dr. Murfree is so successful. His employees seem to like working 3 long hard days so they can also have time to enjoy life. Maybe that explains why every time I go there everyone is happy and smiling. Dr. Murfree also keeps up with the latest technology and tools and has just completed an awesome office remodel. This ain't your grandparents dentist!

Today was my visit to Murfree Dental. I was welcomed by very nice and friendly staff. The office is absolutely beautiful, rooms are hi-tech and Dr. Murfree was very nice and introduced himself as well. I highly recommend this dental office!!
