Scott Family Dental team is dedicated to helping the youth in our communities to grow and thrive. We participate in a number of fun and educational programs that help kids improve their oral and overall health, and we sponsor a youth baseball team as part of our commitment to encouraging young people to get out and stay active. Our dental care team participates in a number of 5ks and other athletic events to encourage others in the community to lead healthier, happier lives. We also volunteer countless hours annually to community events like free clinics and toy drives that make Happy Valley a great place to live.
With nearly three decades of dental experience, Dr. Howe opened Mt. Scott Family Dental in 1998, and has helped patients in Happy Valley achieve their dental health goals ever since. Dr. Howe loves getting to know patients and educating them about oral health. Dr. Howe is a native of Ames, IA where he completed his undergraduate studies at Iowa State University. In 1988, Dr. Howe earned his doctor of dental surgery at the University of Iowa, and he completed a general practice residence at the Oregon Health and Science University in 1989.
Well respected by his peers, Dr. Howe maintains memberships in numerous professional organizations including the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, American Dental Association, Clackamas County Dental society, and the Oregon Dental Association. Additionally, Dr. Howe was recognized as a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry. This prestigious recognition is attained through years of advanced training and rigorous examination. Dedicated to extending the scope and advancing techniques in the field of dentistry, Dr. Howe also dedicates time to dental research and has been published in The Journal of the American Dental Association.
Dr. Donnelly is the east sides hometown dentist. He grew up in the David Douglas school district, received his Bachelors from Portland State University, and graduated from Oregon Health Sciences School of Dentistry as one of their most awarded students in 2005. He is dedicated to creating personalized dental care plans for each of his patients and makes an extra effort to listen to what his patients personal dental goals are rather than treating each person with the same formula of care.
Dr. Donnelly has received extensive additional training in oral and IV sedation and is certified to administer these valuable anti-anxiety methods to patients who need a little more help with their dental visits. He has performed surgeries and restored hundreds of dental implants over the years as well as removed as many wisdom teeth using these techniques. Some patients have even taken advantage of his skills with sedation to get through simpler dental visits and avoid things such as their uncomfortable anxiety or uncontrollable gag reflex.
Dr. Donnelly is a member of the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honors Society that is only awarded to the nations top 5% of dentists upon graduation. Dr. Donnelly has received recognition from the Academy of Dental Materials and the American Association of Endodontics. He is also a member of the Academy of General Dentistry, American Dental Association, Clackamas County Dental Society, and the Oregon Dental Association. Additionally, Dr. Donnelly was recognized as a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry.
Not only does he live in the community he serves, but his family is a part of it as well. He is a proud husband and father of two. He enjoys spending time with his amazing kids, being outdoors, camping, hunting, fishing, in addition to riding quads and his dual sport motorcycle. Dr. Donnelly has his pilots license, and also enjoys watching NFL and college football games when the Blazers arent on.
I am pleased to announce my commencement at Mt. Scott Family Dental. I have known Drs. Craig Howe and Ryan Donnelly for the past several months, and I am grateful to be working under their mentorship. They are full of compassion and truly embody what it means to be healthcare providers. To tell you a little about myself, I grew up in Gresham, OR and attended Portland State University. There, I majored in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. In 2011, I set out for Glendale, AZ where I obtained my Masters in Biomedical Science and subsequently my Degree in Dental Medicine from Midwestern University College of Dental Medicine. In 2016, I began practicing dentistry in Bethlehem, PA. In early 2019, my family and I decided to move back to the Northwest. I have been working in the Northwest for the past year and a half, and I am delighted to call this community my home. I am excited to be working within my local community and to be able to devote myself to this practice.
Some interests that I have are spending time with my wife, Amanda, and my little girl, Layla. The Northwest has such beautiful scenery to offer, and I would love to hear about some of your favorite places to visit. I enjoy spending time with my extended family and watching sporting events together. I enjoy watching movies too, so I would love to hear what your top favorite movies are. While in school, a considerable amount of my time was spent volunteering throughout the community. I truly believe that the best form of healthcare is preventive, which requires information and instruction. I plan on continuing this practice towards those goals. Providing the best care to my patients is of utmost importance to me. In my remaining spare time, I like to educate myself on the various aspects that dentistry has to offer. These insights into the dynamic field of dentistry are aspects that will be passed down to you my patients.

I would award Dr Donnelly and his staff 10 stars out of 10! My husband and I have been patients at Mt Scott Dental for the three years we have lived in Happy Valley. All of my extended family are now patients as well! Everyone we have encountered at Mt Scott Dental is professional and extremely kind. Dr. Donnelly, his assistant Brandy and hygienists Debbie and Trish comprise our dental family now and we are very grateful to have them caring for us.

I've done simple tooth fillings. My dentist was Dr. Ryan Donnelly. Since then, I've been having severe pain, difficulty chewing food and swollen gums (it's been about a month ago). I also started experiencing difficulties to relax the muscles of my jaws. I was surprised by Dr. Donnelly's response that it is common to experience pains for so long. I'm not recommending Dr. Donnelly! Even one star is too much

Dr. Donnelly has been my family dentist for a couple of years now and we think he is great! He is thorough and takes the time to answer our questions and to explain whatever he's doing. He took my son's wisdom teeth out with IV sedation and the experience went really well. His staff is always friendly and informative. I would recommend Dr. Donnelly to anyone who is looking for a new dentist.

Great dental office. Well organized. Pleasant atmosphere. My wife and I moved from Colorado last year. These guys are awesome. We both love our dentists. They are thorough, competent and efficient. Hannah was my dental hygienist and she was great. Highly recommend them.

This is about the terrible experience I had with this dental office front desk staff (Chelsey and Brandy). Any dental office should know that a full mouth debridement and a comprehensive oral evaluation and diagnosis are not to be completed on the same day. No insurance will pay if done in one day. This office charged my insurance for both done on one day. Even though the hygienist clearly told my son that he needs to come back to complete the cleaning, the front-desk lady refused to accept that this was their fault and kept arguing with me that if my insurance does not pay I will have to make the payment. Finally, when I refused to pay, they wrote the payment off, but still refused to accept that it was their fault. They did not even have the courtesy to call me and schedule another appointment to complete the half-done job. After almost two months when I called to schedule another appointment, they continued to act as if they had written-off the amount as a favor to me, instead of accepting their mistake and apologizing for what they did.

Just started using Mt Scott Dental after a recent move to Oregon. This dental service is efficient, friendly, and gives gentle care. I have had a deep cleaning and a root canal. Both procedures produced little to no discomfort. Dr. Donnelly was the first dentist in my life to ever check on me the evening of the root canal. When I needed assistance over a weekend for a different problem, one of his partners, Dr. Nomie, followed up with me on a daily basis. Front desk and dental hygienists are also personable and caring. I highly recommend this practice. Could not ask for better care.

I am a senior now and have had many Dentists over the years. I have never had as great an experience as I have had with Dr. Donnelly and his entire staff. Have not met Dr. Howe, I imagine he is wonderful as well. My first appointment was for an old implant that failed, and the 2 previous Dentists I visited did not want to tackle the issue. They wanted to replace. With patience and skill as well as making calls and keeping me informed, Dr. Donnelly, was able to get it fixed and save me $$$. The absolute best Dentist and staff. Loyal customer now!
