Dr. David Hasson founded the practice in Mt. Airy in 1987. A graduate of the University of Maryland Baltimore County with a BA degree in Biological Sciences, he began a 4 year career in cardiovascular physiology research at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and the University of Kentucky College of Medicine. Pursuing a lifelong dream, he received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry and certification in the Specialty of Pediatric Dentistry from the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine. He volunteered for dental missions for children in Ecuador, South America and Moscow, Russia. He is a former president of both the Maryland Society of Dentistry for Children and the Maryland Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and currently the liaison to the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Dave directs the Frederick County Dental Society Give Kids A Smile Program and is the Maryland State Advisory Leader for the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry Head Start Dental Home Project. In 2011, Dr. Dave was nominated into the American College of Dentists, the oldest national honorary organization for dentist. Fewer than 3.5% of all dentists are elected into the college. An avid beekeeper, photographer, and fan of the Beatles, he lives in Woodbine with his wife Pam, dog Bodhi, cats Fen and Howard, and about 150,000 honeybees depending on the time of the year.

Dr. Allison Green has been practicing pediatric dentistry at Mt Airy Childrens Dental Associates since 2009. Originally from North Carolina, she received her Bachelors of Arts Degree from The University of North Carolina at Ashville. Dr. Green then moved to Maryland and received her Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree from the University of Maryland, where she was awarded with the Pediatric Dentistry award from the Maryland Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.

After dental school, Dr. Green, pursuing her passion to work with children, completed her pediatric dental residency at Childrens National Medical Center in Washington D.C. There, she was named Chief Pediatric Dental Resident and received a Certificate in Pediatric Dentistry from The George Washington University Medical School in 2009.

Dr. Green's goals are to help children obtain optimal oral and overall health, while at the same time providing them with a fun and pleasant dental experience that will allow them to continue to look forward to their dental visits for years to come.

Dr. Green continues to participate in numerous continuing education courses yearly to maintain the highest level of knowledge and skills available in the field of pediatric dentistry. She currently holds a Maryland State Specialty Certificate in Pediatric Dentistry and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, a national distinction achieved by very few pediatric dentists. Dr. Green is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, and a member of the Maryland Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, and American Dental Association.

A resident of Ellicott City, Dr. Green enjoys spending time with her husband and three young daughters; twins Molly and Brooke, and younger sister Erin, exploring the area, trying out new restaurants, and taking her dog, Camden, for walks in the park.

A Maryland native, Dr. Michael Virts spent his undergraduate years at Washington College on the Eastern Shore. He then earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry, and his Specialty Certificate in Pediatric Dentistry from the University of Maryland Medical Center. Following completion of his residency training, Dr. Virts became recognized as a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and maintains Fellow status within the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. He is also an Associate Member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and its Section on Oral Health.

Dr. Virts became a pediatric dentist in order to help children and their families feel at ease about receiving dental care. He is passionate about educating families on how they can best care for their childrens teeth and keeping oral health a major part of overall health. In addition to educating families about oral health, Dr. Virts participates in many continuing education courses every year to stay at the forefront of current pediatric dentistry knowledge.

Dr. Virts remains active in organized dentistry outside of the office. He is a Past President of the Maryland Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, and volunteers as a Deans Faculty member at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry. In addition to participation in the local, state, and national components of the American Dental Association, Dr. Virts is a member of the American Society for Dental Ethics. Dr. Virts has lectured on the national level regarding laser tongue and lip tie revision for infants who are having trouble nursing. He is a member of the International Affiliation of Tongue Tie Professionals, as well as a member of the Maryland Breastfeeding Coalition. Locally, Dr. Virts is on staff at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He volunteers with the Johns Hopkins Craniofacial Clinic in Hagerstown, providing consulting services for families of children with cleft lip and/or palate. Internationally, Dr. Virts has volunteered in the Tula region of Russia to provide dental care for the students and families of Zaoksky Village, about two hours north of Moscow.

Dr. Stuart Sheer is a native of Baltimore, Maryland, and has been practicing orthodontics for over twenty years. He received his specialty training at Columbia University in New York City, is a Board Certified specialist in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics. His Doctor of Dental Surgery degree was received from the University of Maryland Dental School. He is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the Mid-Atlantic Society of Orthodontists and the American Dental Association. He is currently the Program Director for Health Volunteers Overseas in Cambodia. Dr. Sheer has always had an interest in helping and teaching others around the world. He not only has a goal of creating beautiful smiles for the patients that he treats locally, he also works hard to bring those same beautiful smiles for the many children and adults he has had the pleasure of caring for in many developing countries. Through Operation Smile or Health Volunteers Overseas, whether it has been in the Philippines, China, Bhutan, Venezuela, Nicaragua, Cambodia or Tanzania, Dr. Sheer has a personal mission to try and make life a little better for those people that have not had the opportunities or access to proper treatment and care. Dr. Sheer also enjoys traveling, sports, art, and music.

Everyone was extremely welcoming and kind. Dr. Mike was amazing at listening, asking us questions, and then explaining the procedure our newborn needed. Both my husband and I were impressed with the care, support, and service we received.

We went to Mt. Airy for a second opinion. So glad we did. Dr. Green and Wendy were awesome with our 7 yr old who's anxious at the dentist. They also helped us opt for a much less aggressive treatment plan that is in the best interest of our child. Very happy and will be leaving our current pediatric dentist in Frederick for Mt. Airy Children's Dental.

We have taken our children to Mt. Airy Children's Dental Associates since they were babies because of needing lip and tongue tie releases (yes, both needed these taken care of!) and continued with routine check-ups with Dr. Mike Virts. We don't live near by but it's worth the drive knowing your child is going to be in great and caring hands. My daughter needed to get her baby tooth extracted and the process couldn't have gone smoother. My daughter was comfortable and calm the entire time. Dr. Green was friendly and quick! What a relief for me because I was anxious anticipating any pain or fear my daughter might have.

Today was our daughters very first dental appointment and we had such a phenomenal experience! Scheduling was friendly and easy and Dr Virts and Heather were patient, kind and gentle to our little one. They welcomed all of our questions and concerns, which helped make the process even more smooth. They have a great team and we appreciate everything! :)

I have been taking my 17 and 20 yr old sons to Mt Airy Children's Dental Assoc since their very first dental appts. My oldest son is autistic, and they have been incredibly kind with him, and they accept his Medicaid dental insurance. Once for a dental emergency the dentist and asst met us at 9pm and acted as if they were glad to do so. Beyond all of that, they do so much for the community. They literally shut down their office for their regular patients and bus in kids that need dental care but don't have insurance and the whole practice showers them with love and free dental care. I drive my boys over 30 mins to go to this wonderful practice. We will be hard pressed to find an adult dental practice that is as great as Mt Airy Children's Dental Associates.

My girl just went for her 5th visit - her first without screaming and tears. The team has always been patient with her, made her feel safe and comfortable, and talked her through the entire process. My questions are always met and answered with respect and kindness. I'm very thankful for our first successful visit and I owe it all to the team at Mt Airy Children's Dental!

We just love Mt.Airy Children's Dental. They are always so good with my girls. My kids love taking care of their teeth and I think it's in part to the warm, fun and welcoming environment they feel when they go to their dentist! Keep up the passion you have to make kids love coming to the dentist. Wouldn't want to take my kids anywhere else!

Dr. Virts and staff were so accommodating with scheduling and I was so fortunate to have my newborn seen for a tongue tie revision. Dr. Virts has now done 4 of my babies' tongue and lip revisions with outstanding outcomes each time. Dr. Mike and staff are so helpful, kind, and professional. Can not recommend this practice enough!

We had a great experience today! We love Dr. Sheer and the dental hygienist that we had today, 8/22/2022, but I forgot to get her name!

Dr Mike and Ashley were amazing. Ashley was so patient and kind to my nervous 5 year old, and was quick & efficient with a squirmy one year old. Dr Mike was so great with my girls too - he spoke in such a kind & calm way that put my older daughter at ease. They took their time and made you feel like you were their only appointment of the day. We are so glad to have the girls in this practice!
