Patient care is first and foremost at MSL Facial Oral Surgery, and much of that is a reflection upon the type of person Dr. Paletta is: a family man who focuses on nurturing and caring, and who is never busy to fully listen to someone with a sympathetic ear.

MSL Surgery - Oral surgeon in Warwick, RI

Born in Tehran, his family left Iran shortly after the revolution and during the Iran-Iraq war. Witnessing the casualties of war and heroism of trauma, surgeons inspired him to pursue a career in medicine from an early age.

After completing high school in Stamford, Connecticut, Dr. Banki entered the University of Connecticut, where he pursued a liberal arts curriculum. Dr. Banki conducted basic research throughout his four years as an undergraduate under the tutelage of Dr. James Bobbitt. This culminated in his senior thesis on the synthesis of nitrosonium salts, which was highly acclaimed.

Upon receiving his Bachelor of Science in chemistry with honors, Dr. Banki was accepted to the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine in Farmington, Connecticut. While completing his dental studies, he completed a full year of research at the Connecticut Chemosensory Center on the study of olfactory and gustatory senses. Some of this work has been published in peer-reviewed journals.

Study of human anatomy and physiology aspired Dr. Banki to pursue a career in surgery. He was admitted to the highly competitive combined MD/residency program in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the University of Connecticut, under the chairman of Dr. Leon Assael and later Dr. David Schafer.

After graduating from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, Dr. Banki completed a two-year residency in general surgery. He considers these some of the most formative years in his development as a surgeon. He often credits many prominent names in the surgical world who directly influenced him, such as the Chief of Surgery at the time, Joseph Civetta, MD, and the Chief of Trauma Surgery, Len Jacobs, MD. Dr. Banki especially recognizes Charles Castiglione, MD, Chief of the Division of Plastic Surgery, as well as Robert Piorkowski, MD, Chief of the Division of Surgical Oncology to have been the most instrumental in his surgical training.

In 2003, at the completion of his residency, Dr. Banki moved to Rhode Island. He was fortunate to train under Dr. Albert Carlotti, Jr. while in private practice. Here, he performed hundreds of complex orthognathic and jaw reconstructive surgeries. In 2006, Dr. Banki became a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS), folled by the National Board of Dental Anesthesia. In 2007, Dr. Banki was inducted as a Fellow in the American College of Surgeons (FACS).

In 2009, after much deliberation, Dr. Banki left a very successful private practice in order to pursue further training in cosmetic surgery. He returned to his alma matter, the University of Connecticut, where he completed an additional year of training in general surgery. He then moved to Oklahoma City, where he studied under Erik Nuveen, MD, DMD. During his highly sought-after fellowship, Dr. Banki completed well over 1,000 cosmetic operations, inculind 600 breast surgeries, ranging from simple augmentation to lifts and complex reductions.

Dr. Banki rejoined Dr. Frank Paletta, with whom he was previously in practice, and they have been close friends and colleagues for many years, dating back to residency. Dr. Bankis areas of interest are orthognathic surgery, facial trauma, and cosmetic surgery of the face, breast, and abdomen.

Dr. Banki has medical and dental licenses in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Connecticut. He is a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Academy of Cosmetic Surgeons, American Dental Society of Anesthesiology, and American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Banki enjoys lecturing locally and nationally to professional societies, as well as publishing in scientific journals. He holds faculty positions in the Department of Surgery at Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University and in the Department of Craniofacial Sciences, Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Connecticut. Dr. Banki also volunteers his surgical time to charitable causes and is active in educating medical students and residency participants.

Dr. Banki is very passionate about issues pertaining to patient safety and quality of care. His surgicenters in Warwick, Rhode Island, and North Attleboro, Massachusetts, are certified by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC). Dr. Banki serves on the patient care committee of the Miriam Hospital. He also has staff privileges at the Miriam Hospital, Rhode Island Hospital, Sturdy Memorial Hospital, and the Southern New England Surgical Center.

Dr. Bankis business model for excellence is based on Its Not What You Sell, Its What You Stand For, a book by Roy M. Spence, Jr., which he often quotes from and encourages his staff, colleagues, and patients to read. He believes that it is only through compassionate care and uncompromising attention to details with a significant reliance on evidence-based medicine, scientific research, and education that one can be a successful practitioner of the art of surgery.

I consulted with Dr Banki, met his surgery assistants, and they were professional and respectful. No.Attleboro: The women at the desk are miserable and make certain we share their misery. Oral surgery is stressful -- I can't add to that stress dealing with those two who handle the insurance/payments/scheduling.

Dr banki and his assistant was amazing, however the front desk people were unpleasant which seems to be a consistency in these reviews, I work in customer service myself, and that would never fly. Definitely need a change in their front desk staff, sometimes their just too worn out to do it, I'd switch places just because of the front desk staff honestly.

I went to the Warwick location however You, the reader, can tell by the 2 stars their Attleborough location has earned (with the same doctors) that you will not have a pleasant experience. I do not reccomend. Simply put...choose another company! Once they have your money they will not answer your follow up questions or concerns. They do not show educational videos to the patient before surgery. It is better to inform the patient directly not their ride. They will successfully pull your teeth out but do not expect a morcel of compassion or even a sixty second comforting conversation with the doctor. Go at your own risk unless in extreme pain I reccomend choosing alternatives. If they showed compassion when a customer calls with concerns they could avoid the customer becoming upset. Don't put your children at risk here

To say that I am impressed by Dr. Banki's excellence and proficiency in his craft is a grotesque understatement. Every member of the staff was simply outstanding. They cumulatively made my bone graft and implant surgery a smooth 20 min coast in the park, while respecting my desire to remain awake. I hope to never have to undergo any other dental surgery again, it's been a long road. However, if the need ever arises again, there will be no hesitation on my part to return to Dr. Banki. Thank you so much.

I am updating this review after my procedure. They were efficient and gave the right amount of information and assurance. The front desk staff that morning were more helpful. The office sent me a gift the day after to wish me well in my recovery. This just changed the flavor of the interaction. I do hope they remain consistent because I have no doubt that the oral surgeons are highly skilled. (OLDER REVIEW) Whatever level of skill the dental surgeons have, is overshadowed by the lack of courtesy by the patient coordinating and billing staff. This is a problem with practices that grow, they get so busy; the staff gets overwhelmed, and all of a sudden, they take their stress out on the patients. The very patients that enable the practice to grow and employ them. They start losing sight of the fact that they exist to provide treatment to patients, who have their insurance companies through their dental benefits, pay the practices, and out of pocket, too. I called to provide my card for downpayment and was met with a condescending tone for not remembering with whom I was speaking prior (rudely talking down to me ("There's so many of us here!") and address: (Hon"? Diner?). They use "Ma'am" with a very aggressive tone. I am on the fence now as I need surgery but not at the expense of being treated rudely. I am not even sure the doctors read these reviews.

My experience at MLS Surgery was great. Everyone was kind, professional and helped to put me at ease. I had 2 extractions done under IV anesthesia and all went well. I would definitely recommend Dr. Paletta and the staff for your surgery needs.

I work for a general dentist, so when my own child needed her wisdom teeth extracted, I knew just who I wanted her to see. I chose MSL because they are not only oral surgeons, they are medical doctors. I felt very confident that my daughter would be safe and well cared for. The staff was wonderful and Dr. Banki was very kind and compassionate. Also, I had an implant placed by Dr. Paletta a few years back and I had a great experience. I highly recommend MSL.

Secretary RUDE aF. Frustrated cause she has to explain why I have to pay this and that when I have insurance left over . I told them I wanted only 2 teeth pulled out. They never did their job and changed it . But reguardless ! It's the same price I guess Cause that's " their fees" that place is a joke.
