MSL Facial & Oral Surgery - General dentist in North Attleboro, MA

Born in Tehran, his family left Iran shortly after the revolution and during the Iran-Iraq war. Witnessing the casualties of war and heroism of trauma, surgeons inspired him to pursue a career in medicine from an early age.

After completing high school in Stamford, Connecticut, Dr. Banki entered the University of Connecticut, where he pursued a liberal arts curriculum. Dr. Banki conducted basic research throughout his four years as an undergraduate under the tutelage of Dr. James Bobbitt. This culminated in his senior thesis on the synthesis of nitrosonium salts, which was highly acclaimed.

Upon receiving his Bachelor of Science in chemistry with honors, Dr. Banki was accepted to the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine in Farmington, Connecticut. While completing his dental studies, he completed a full year of research at the Connecticut Chemosensory Center on the study of olfactory and gustatory senses. Some of this work has been published in peer-reviewed journals.

Study of human anatomy and physiology aspired Dr. Banki to pursue a career in surgery. He was admitted to the highly competitive combined MD/residency program in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the University of Connecticut, under the chairman of Dr. Leon Assael and later Dr. David Schafer.

After graduating from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, Dr. Banki completed a two-year residency in general surgery. He considers these some of the most formative years in his development as a surgeon. He often credits many prominent names in the surgical world who directly influenced him, such as the Chief of Surgery at the time, Joseph Civetta, MD, and the Chief of Trauma Surgery, Len Jacobs, MD. Dr. Banki especially recognizes Charles Castiglione, MD, Chief of the Division of Plastic Surgery, as well as Robert Piorkowski, MD, Chief of the Division of Surgical Oncology to have been the most instrumental in his surgical training.

In 2003, at the completion of his residency, Dr. Banki moved to Rhode Island. He was fortunate to train under Dr. Albert Carlotti, Jr. while in private practice. Here, he performed hundreds of complex orthognathic and jaw reconstructive surgeries. In 2006, Dr. Banki became a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS), folled by the National Board of Dental Anesthesia. In 2007, Dr. Banki was inducted as a Fellow in the American College of Surgeons (FACS).

In 2009, after much deliberation, Dr. Banki left a very successful private practice in order to pursue further training in cosmetic surgery. He returned to his alma matter, the University of Connecticut, where he completed an additional year of training in general surgery. He then moved to Oklahoma City, where he studied under Erik Nuveen, MD, DMD. During his highly sought-after fellowship, Dr. Banki completed well over 1,000 cosmetic operations, inculind 600 breast surgeries, ranging from simple augmentation to lifts and complex reductions.

Dr. Banki rejoined Dr. Frank Paletta, with whom he was previously in practice, and they have been close friends and colleagues for many years, dating back to residency. Dr. Bankis areas of interest are orthognathic surgery, facial trauma, and cosmetic surgery of the face, breast, and abdomen.

Dr. Banki has medical and dental licenses in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Connecticut. He is a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Academy of Cosmetic Surgeons, American Dental Society of Anesthesiology, and American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Banki enjoys lecturing locally and nationally to professional societies, as well as publishing in scientific journals. He holds faculty positions in the Department of Surgery at Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University and in the Department of Craniofacial Sciences, Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Connecticut. Dr. Banki also volunteers his surgical time to charitable causes and is active in educating medical students and residency participants.

Dr. Banki is very passionate about issues pertaining to patient safety and quality of care. His surgicenters in Warwick, Rhode Island, and North Attleboro, Massachusetts, are certified by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC). Dr. Banki serves on the patient care committee of the Miriam Hospital. He also has staff privileges at the Miriam Hospital, Rhode Island Hospital, Sturdy Memorial Hospital, and the Southern New England Surgical Center.

Dr. Bankis business model for excellence is based on Its Not What You Sell, Its What You Stand For, a book by Roy M. Spence, Jr., which he often quotes from and encourages his staff, colleagues, and patients to read. He believes that it is only through compassionate care and uncompromising attention to details with a significant reliance on evidence-based medicine, scientific research, and education that one can be a successful practitioner of the art of surgery.

No.Attleboro; Consulted with Dr Banki, met anesthesiologist assistant and surgical assistant-- they were all professional and respectful. The 2 women at the desk were venomous... I'd never go there again. I'm going to schedule procedure to be done in Warwick

I have no clue as to why some people are complaining about the staff. I was there for a consultation this afternoon and the ladies at the front desk were awesome and couldn't have been nicer ! The doctor was terrific as was his assistant! Can't wait to have my tooth extracted...okay maybe not....but I was very comfortable and felt I was in good hands!

I spoke with the receptionist at MSL on 2 occasions on 3/15, but she was so rude I told her I'd take my business elsewhere (I didn't care if I had to travel an hour or more). The receptionist has to be a relative or close friend of business owner because who would keep this woman employed in this capacity? 2nd business I called (Premiere) had an appointment available and receptionist was professional and helpful.

This is for the Warwick location for my first visit, based on first impression and I will update after the consultation. Happy that they took me in earlier than I expected, for a consultation. This is actually a potential switch for me as MSL was recommended by my general dentist (I have already had a consultation with another oral surgery practice). The intake receptionist must be trying hard to be patient due to a busy practice; I can sense a bit of condescension in her tone of voice, though--- kept calling me "hon" (what is this, a diner?). There are great reviews about the clinicians so far and my general dentist has made me feel reassured that this is a solid practice. Most of the negative reviews here involve the receptionists/admin staff. We'll see. I can always walk away if not treated with respect as a patient who pays for the service, that helps run the practice, that pays the staff.

My boyfriend has a broken molar #13 and needs an urgent extraction. When I called MSL Facial & Oral Surgery, I was immediately placed on hold and waited 10 minutes, then when I called back I was quickly told they are "booked out 6 months" -seriously?! You can't take ANY new patients or referrals for a single tooth extraction until 6 months???

My daughter had her wisdom teeth removed by Dr. Banki. The entire staff was awesome and so good with her. She had a very difficult time with anxiety prior to the procedure and after the anesthesia she had a hard time waking up and was very emotional and upset. They were all so understanding and supportive. The Dr. personally walked us out to the car and made sure she was all set. I highly recommend Dr. Banki and his practice.

I had a tooth pulled and the Dr and staff were excellent. They were professional, courteous and friendly. The tooth was out before I even realized it. Due to timing on my insurance deductible, I overpaid slightly, however I received a refund in the mail without ever having to call.

Both receptionists up front were incredibly rude and insensitive. Upon walking in, my mother and I immediately felt uncomfortable and disrespected. Not to mention the way that the receptionists spoke to the other people in the office. The other reviews on this establishment are painfully accurate, and personally, if they were the face of my business, I would be finding new staffing ASAP.

I was very impressed with MSL Facial & Oral Surgery as a whole. I needed to have a wisdom tooth taken out and it was made more difficult by the pandemic safety restrictions. However, MSL is on top of it and did everything to make me feel safe. The doctor was very quick with my extraction and I am eternally grateful since I chose a local anesthetic. I plan to come back in the future if I need any additional work.

Dr. Banki is amazing. I had my wisdom teeth out last year(as an adult, which is tough!). He was reassuring and let me come in for rechecks whenever I was concerned about how I was healing up. He responded quickly to any questions I had.
