In 1989, Serban Olaru graduated Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania with a degree of Bachelor of Arts with High Honors in Religion and Sociology. Between 1989 and 1991, he completed his predoctoral sciences program at Columbia University in New York City.
Dr. Olaru graduated from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ) with a Doctorate in Dental Medicine (DMD) in 1997. He proceeded to complete a post graduate fellowship in Oral Medicine in 1999 and a one year post graduate training in specialist level Periodontics in 2000, both at UMDNJ.
Dr. Olaru has been placing and restoring implants since 2005. Dr. Olaru completed an Oral Implantology Fellowship conferred by the California Implant Institute and University of Nevada Dental School in 2019. He is currently attending post graduate seminars at the Pikos Institute.
Today he is limiting his practice to Oral Medicine, Oral Implantology, Prosthetics and Gum and Alveolar Bone Regeneration procedures with Platelet Rich Plasma, Growth Factors and Stem Cells. His field of practice is Regeneration, Multiple Implant Placement and Implant Prosthetics with Implant Retained Full Dentures and Fixed Implant Supported Hybrid Prosthetic Appliances.
His past endeavors were in the field of Neurophysiology research at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of NJ (UMDNJ) where he has published research papers on pain transmission mechanisms in the Trigeminal System (Head and Neck Pain Pathways).
Dr. Olaru has been a clinical instructor in the Oral Medicine Departments at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and at the University of Washington Dental School, Seattle, WA. Dr. Olaru is currently a Clinical Instructor at the California Implant Institute, San Diego, CA.
Dr. Olaru's wife, Ingrid Lintmaer Olaru, MD, works as an Internal Medicine Hospitalist Physician at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, WA while being a full-time mother to their son and daughter.

Hi My Name is Phyllis Norton. I recently had an excellent experience with a procedure performed by Dr. Olaru. Not only were they able to get me in quickly as I was in pain but it was a painless procedure. Two of my teeth were extracted quickly and painlessly. I would highly recommend and refer anyone needing oral surgery or any dental procedure to Mountainside.

If you are looking for a great oral surgeon, this place and staff are awesome and they have a family type vibe which I loved! Dr. Olaru is a fantastic oral surgeon. He truly does amazing work and best of all he cares about his patients. My experience here went smoothly from start to finish. I wouldn't ever recommend another surgeon!! I have more work I want done and will for sure be coming back!

Professional and friendly office staff. Excellent work by dr. Olaru. All the recent implants I received have incorporated and were ready for the "healing caps". Soon to return to have the crowns applied. Very happy.

Dr. Olaru and his team are professional, honest, and patient. Over the past three years of visiting, I have had multiple cavities, and Dr. Olaru has always been very kind to help me fill them and take really good care of my teeth. Claire was absolutely fantastic. Very caring and accommodating. We were visiting the resort on vacation and my wife had a major issue with a previous root canal. Claire and Dr. Olaru responded immediately (he came in at a moment's notice on his day off) to help. Thanks to their quick help, we were able to enjoy the remainder of our time in CDA. Many thanks again to Claire and Dr. Olaru for saving the day!!!

My 12 year old son needed some specialty work that the general dentist he was seeing couldn't complete. We had trouble getting anyone to allow us to make an appointment with them because of Medicaid. My son was in some pain and Dr Olaru went out of his way to get him in to see what was going on. He and his staff were very attentive and gave very personal care and attention to us and gave us honest feedback. My husband and I were so impressed with his concern for our son that we decided to pay for him to do it instead of having Medicaid dictate where he went. I highly recommend this office! Refreshing having a dentist take more personal interest in your care!
