Dr. John Schmidt earned his degree as Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) in 2008 from The Temple School of Dentistry in Philadelphia, PA. Shortly after graduation, he moved to Colorado to attend a General Practice Residency program at Denver Health Hospital. After completing his GPR program in the summer of 2009 he became the owner of Mountain View Family Dental where he has spent the last decade proudly serving the Brighton community.
Dr. Schmidt practices his philosophy of maintaining a positive doctor-patient relationship through mutual trust, cooperation, and open communication. He has made it his personal duty to provide the highest quality of care to every patient and focuses on integrating the criterion of traditional dentistry with cutting-edge technology in order to continually grow the practice.

I take back my previous positive review. The crowns that were done here were not only charged to be put in place again by the same dentist, but they fell out again. I ended up having to find another dentist to do the work on my tooth. They had to file my tooth down around my gums because the tooth was too short. Once they did that, they replaced the crown and it has been great ever since.

This place is money driven, dr. Will place crowns to pay his mortgage and they will fail guarantee so you come back. Worst place I've ever been too he will make you feel comfortable by his tv screen and pick your pocket gaurenteed. Trust me go elsewhere or you will be sorry. The crowns he charges $600 for are a $10 zirconium cube and he loves to make the money off them. When you come back in pain he will tell you it all looks good, he's talking about his bank account not your mouth health. Trust me avoid this place 2 failed crowns that were not needed in the first place, he's a user for your money. Went back with so much pain and he denied my pain, truly self centered and a complete wast of my $1200 I'd pay double to have my teeth feel good. Just a God honest opinion!

The staff is amazing and super friendly. Everyone is very thorough and informative about what I have going on each time I go in. Plus, they play great music, which makes being at the dentist go by quickly and not so bad

I came here for a second opinion. They worked with me to make sure I was in network and were upfront about my out of pocket cost. The hygienist was amazing he walked me through everything he was doing so I knew what to expect. The doctor was straight forward and made sure I understood the next steps. They created a treatment plan that was affordable and manageable. I did not feel pressured like I did at my last dentist. So glad I came for a second opinion

My former dentist down the street stopped accepting my insurance, so I searched for a new one and found this place. I like to support family run businesses, and this seems like the only such dentist remaining in Brighton. I had a routine cleaning, and Oscar did a terrific job. Dr. Schmidt was very good as well. I strongly recommend them.

Edited 2022: Original post at end of this post. I had a couple interesting issues with they way they bill insurance that didn't make sense to me. I had a lot of work done with them and there was always more work to be done. My entire family of 4 each had dental work that was claimed to be needed, when I got a 2nd & 3rd opinion only I needed work done and it was 2 things instead of 9 and the cost was much lower. Dentist and Hygienist were super nice and great to work with, but I would advise to advocate for yourself and do not be afraid to get a second opinion. ORIGINAL POST: I am new to the Brighton area and was nervous about finding a new dentist as I had a great experience with my last dentist in New York (after a nightmare experience previous to that). Mountain View is a great clean and bright facility, along with the staff they provide a great experience. My two children who are 6 and under have had great experiences there and actually ENJOY going to the dentist. I think that says a lot more about this Dentist than anything I can say here. One of the great things I enjoy about this dentist is that they keep you informed of everything that is going on with you dental hygiene. The information and explanation of what is going on is unmatched, My family and I have had a great experience over the last 18+ months since we moved to Colorado. TIP FOR NEW PATIENTS: Make sure you are clear as to what type of Reminders you would like to receive from this office, they do go a little overkill on those. I receive several text messages and emails confirming and reminding you of your appointments and it can get a bit overwhelming when you get 2 text messages and 3 emails all in the same day.

Just moved here from New Mexico and this was my first visit to my new dentist for a routine cleaning - everyone was very professional and friendly, kept me aware of what they were doing and more importantly, why they were doing it (x-rays, cleaning, polishing, etc.). Dr. Schmidt fully explained my current mouth health, explained the x-rays and the cleaning procedure results, and made some recommendations. I think I've found my permanent dentist again.

Great experience all around. The Doc is friendly, knowledgeable, and communicative. Plus, the art in the office is museum quality and the music is always on point. Would recommend to a friend (and strangers on Google).

Horrible service. They have reschedule my appointments 3 times. Due to no "hygienist" I've had to take time off work to go in for my scheduled appointment. I don't understand how they reschedule my appointment and then call me saying there isn't a hygienist in the office.

I have had such great experiences at Mountain View in Brighton! The hygienists are amazing- they take the time to make sure you are comfortable, talk you through their practices, and get to know you as more than a patient. I highly recommend Mountain View to anyone looking for a new dentist office.
