Permanent teeth will begin to grow around age 6, and except for wisdom teeth, are all present between ages 12 and 14. The next teeth to grow in are the 12-year molars and finally the wisdom teeth. Wisdom teeth typically begin breaking through from age 17 and on. The total number of permanent teeth is 32, though few people have room for all 32 teeth. This is why wisdom teeth are usually removed.
Your front teeth are called incisors. The sharp fang-like teeth are canines. The next side teeth are referred to as pre-molars or bicuspids, and the back teeth are molars. Your permanent teeth are the ones you keep for life, so it is vital that they are brushed and flossed regularly and that periodic check-ups by a dentist are followed.

I recently visited Mountain View Dentistry due to a very painful tooth. Dr. Witcher, Amy and April were outstanding. April and Dr. Witcher got me in right away and took great care of me. Dr. Witcher makes sure to keep you informed on everything he is doing. Dr. Witcher is extremely gentle. The staff is very friendly and professional. On the way out they even provide an individually wrapped warm wet cloth to refresh yourself. WOW!!! This practice really knows how to treat its patients. I highly recommend Mountain View Dentistry for all your dental needs.

Called for an appointment, put on hold for 5 minutes, informed lady that answered phone that I had a broken tooth and crown that needed to be replaced. Was offered an appointment a month and a half in the future....I don't understand.

I have many problems with my teeth and horribly painful experiences with past dentist (including being talked into filling a tooth with no numbing aid). This office is AMAZING! Whitney was very accommodating for my cleaning which is painful normally but not with her. Dr. Witcher and the assisting tech (I hope that's right) would completely stop if I was not comfortable and reevaluate what they were doing to keep me out of pain. They came up with a new plan for fixing my teeth and it worked far beyond my expectations. I did not feel a thing! I looked crazy leaving but I promise I do not care one bit. I have been TERRIFIED of the dentist my entire life and now I no longer have to fear what will happen because this team is OUTSTANDING!

I was overdue for a cleaning due to prior trauma and I was incredibly anxious and shaky. I was able to get something to relax and my pain was managed. Dr. Witcher and his hygienists completely put me at ease. They also explained my treatment options to me and I then realized my former dentist was recommending unnecessary procedures that I did not need (like periodontal scaling). I was relieved that this cleaning was very gentle... and that they were honest with me. I was always in pain after my prior cleanings but not this time. Thank you Mountain View dentistry for assuaging my fears, calming me down and being honest with me about my treatment. If I could give more than 5 stars I would... I am definitely going back and I'm happy to say that I have finally found a practice I am comfortable with. Thank you!!!!

Can i leave 500 stars? I feel like i should leave 500 stars... 5 just is not enough!!!! I went in for an extraction.. What a mess i was with this dang tooth, I'll spare you the details.. I was terrified!!!!! Then the most awesome dentist and hygienist came to my rescue!!! He was the sweetest dentist I've ever seen.. So very gentle.. .. Not just his jands and work but his words!!! He calmed my fears and made the whole experience calm.. And his hygienist, Melissa, was so fun and so nice ... I will never go anywhere else for any work.. They came up with a plan and I'll be seeing a lot of them and I'm not even sad about it!!! Thank you so much!!!!!! - Tonya Mikeals

I've been without a regular dentist for quite a while. I decided to visit the Mountain View Dentistry, and I won't need to look further. Dr. Witcher takes the time to explain exactly what's happening and what you need to do about it. But, he doesn't push, he leaves the decision to you. His office staff are friendly and some of the most capable I've ever seen. And, I've been in a LOT of dentist offices. Highly recommended.

Went in for a broken wisdom tooth. I was afraid of it being extremely painful before Dr. Witcher extracted the tooth. He was completely calm and talked me through the procedure and assured me that everything would be alright. His staff gave me step by step instructions of how to care of my teeth going forward. They are an awesome establishment and I will highly recommend them. Thank you!
