We are very excited to welcome Dr. Vladimir Deresciuc to Mountain Perio! With the addition of Dr. Deresciuc, Dr. Shefter will be able to practice a lighter schedule leading to his eventual retirement later this year. Dr. Shefter, Dr. Fertik and Dr. Harrell were very intentional in their search. Dr. Deresciuc shares their passion for periodontics and has a very similar treatment philosophy. He will work closely with his patients, ensuring they are well educated and comfortable with all aspects of their treatment to achieve their oral health goals. Dr. Deresciuc is originally from Moldova, a beautiful little country on the border of Eastern and Western Europe. He was born into a family of physicians, so choosing a career in healthcare felt very natural to him. He graduated from dental school in Moldova and completed two additional years of general dentistry residency training. In the early 2000s, his family immigrated to Canada, and he and his wife began their journey to North America. In 2009, Dr. Deresciuc received his dental degree from the University of Pennsylvania. His wife completed her residency in internal medicine and began her career as a practicing hospitalist physician. Dr. Deresciuc practiced general dentistry for eight years before enrolling in the Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University, where he received his degree in periodontology. This was a natural progression for him since he shifted toward more complex surgical procedures in the last few years of his general dentistry career. He wanted to learn the latest advancements and intricacies of surgical and interdisciplinary dental treatment planning to better serve his patients. He is immensely proud to represent this specialty as a part of Mountain Perio. Over the past 20 years, Dr. Deresciuc has taken part in multiple mission trips with Health Volunteers Overseas, an organization committed to promoting education and providing dental and medical treatment to communities in need. Besides English, he is fluent in the Russian, Romanian and Ukrainian languages. In his free time, Dr. Deresciuc loves reading and listening to and playing music, especially classical and flamenco guitar. He loves spending time outside playing tennis, hiking, and biking with his wife, three sons and Cocker Spaniel, Ovi. Dr. Deresciuc fell in love with Ashevilles beauty and is very happy to call it home. He is looking forward to becoming an integral part of the community and building lifelong relationships here.

The doctor at this practice expects people to manage the pain of gum surgery with ibuprofen. Glad I asked before I went under the knife. Caveat emptor.

Processional, professional, professional. The pleasant and caring staff also takes whatever time is necessary to completely answer questions while explaining what they are doing.
