I have always been afraid at the dentist, but not here! The staff is so helpful. Everyone is so amazing and makes you feel like family. I recommend 100%

Thankful for a knowledgeable, kind dentist. Dr. MacRae took time to show me images and explain what the best course of action would be. Easy, painless extraction of a tooth that couldn't be saved. I'm a nervous patient in the dental chair. His easy demeanor set me at ease.

Incorrect billing, incorrect referral, inconsistent explanation, and a brown crack after filling. Disappointed and waste of time!

Excellent Dentist. Tells you like it is and doesn't push on extra treatments that are not needed. Great staff in the office too.

Simply awesome with a humane touch! Dentist for my two daughters.... always come back home smiling. Dr. MacRae is a good man and so are the other members of his practice, beginning from the reception to his direct assistants. I highly recommend this for folks around the Clemson, Seneca, Pendleton areas and beyond.

The first time I went there, I got my teeth cleaned and they told me I had 14 cavities. I have never had any issues with my teeth in the past, so I got a second opinion from my previous dentist (across the country). She said that maybe I could go ahead and get one filling (one surface of one tooth). So I went back to Mountain Lakes Family Dentistry to get that one filling, because they are more conveniently located. I told them I just wanted the work done on that one surface. They started drilling and only when it was over did I discover that they had drilled into and filled three surfaces of the same tooth. Not what I asked for, and they didn't even tell me that's what they were doing. Then they made me sit there and look at pictures of the filling process, even though I told them repeatedly that I am very squeamish and did not want to see it. After all of that, they would not file my insurance correctly. They kept filling to the wrong insurance company, repeatedly. I called several times, emailed, went into their office. Each time I provided all of the information they needed to file correctly and they said they would do it. I did everything I could do to make them file correctly, and they just wouldn't do it. They didn't file my insurance correctly for a whole year! That's at least 12 incorrect bills and at least 12 times that I asked them to change my bill, and they wouldn't do it for an entire year. Never going back!

I called over 100 dentist offices in the area and asked every single if they would take payments. If they said no (every single one said no) I would ask if they made any exceptions, as I had a pretty serious problem going on. All of them told me no, except for Mountain Lakes. After I explained my situation, who ever I talked to told me that I could be set up on a bank draft and could make small weekly or monthly payments. Great! I had been in terrible pain for over a week and could finally get another 2 teeth taken care of along with the "bad" one! So, I set up my appointment and went in for an initial exam. I paid $40 of my $80 bill, for that appointment, with no questions asked. I came back in for my dental work. I had a root canal with a temporary filling and a drill and fill. I needed to come back in a few weeks to get a permanent filling and a crown for another tooth. I paid $50 of $700+ for that appointment. With a bit of hesitation, they took my $50 payment and scheduled me for the permanent filling and crown. I received a call a few days later stating that I would need to reschedule due to the dentist not being there that day. I rescheduled and was told that I would have to pay my full balance, plus whatever that appointment would cost, the day of my appointment. My amount changed from $700+ to almost $1,000. I explained to her everything in this review. I told her I was told I could make payments. She said USUALLY they don't tell patients that. Exactly, you USUALLY don't, but I was the exception. I told her I was stuck with a temporary filling that was already half way gone. She spoke with the office manager and called me back with the same spill. The tooth that had a root canal had been chipped from an auto accident years ago. The dentist that fixed it had to "build up" the tooth. Dr. McRae filled that off. So now, I have a temporary filling in a teeny tiny, sharp and thin tooth, with absolutely no way to get it fixed. I am very upset with this practice and I advise you to take names and write things down before getting services here.
