Dr. Camille Zelen grew up in Maplewood, MN. She attended undergraduate school at the University of North Dakota on a swimming scholarship. After graduating with a bachelor of science in nursing, Dr. Zelen worked as an interventional cardiac care nurse for a few years before going on to pursue her goal of becoming a dentist.
She attended Creighton University Dental School in Omaha, Nebraska. Upon graduation, Dr. Zelen had an opportunity to work in an advanced cosmetic dental office before relocating back to Minnesota in 2009 to be close to family.
Dr. Zelen has since practiced general and cosmetic dentistry locally with an emphasis on patient comfort and prevention. Some of her skills and expertise include fillings, root canals, crowns, bridges, full and partial dentures, extractions, and implant restorations. Dr Zelen has advanced training and certifications in Botox and Dermal fillers through the American Academy of Facial Esthetics. Dr. Zelen has also completed advanced training and certifications in Laser Dentistry from the World Laser Institute and has achieved Master Laser Course Certification.
Camille's husband Dan grew up just blocks from Mount Royal Dental. Together they have four boys who occupy most of their free time. They are very active as a family in the swimming and soccer community.
Dr. Danielle Johnson grew up in Duluth, MN. She graduated from Duluth East High School in 2009. She attended the University of North Dakota, and graduated from the University of MN, Duluth with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Minor in Chemistry.
While finishing her pre-dental classes, Danielle worked at Mount Royal Dental as Dr. Zelens assistant. She loved working with patients and knew Dentistry was the career for her. Danielle attended dental school at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. During her time at Creighton, she married her husband Ben, and they adopted a Corgi named Flynn. Together they enjoy camping, fishing, and hiking. Dr. Johnson also loves to cook and read in her spare time.
Dr. Johnson graduated from Creighton in May, 2020, and came back to Mount Royal Dental to begin her career. Dr. Johnson specializes in fillings, crowns, bridges, root canals, extractions, dentures, partials, and is an Invisalign provider as well.

We had two traumatic tooth injuries a week apart and they got us in same day and were able to help us. I can not recommend Dr. Zelen and Dr. Johnson enough. Their staff is amazing and their knowledge and services can't be beat.

They should have a big sign in the door saying that they do NOT accept Delta Dental's Medicare policy if they refuse to sign up for federal reimbursement.

Mount Royal Dental is a extremely professional office with top of the the line equipment. This office has incredibly friendly and considerate staff that are always excited to see me on my routine cleanings. Five stars to my primary hygienist Jess and the all of the staff there keep up the fantastic work and thank you for all the great experiences!

Amazing office and staff. Always got nervous when it came time to go to the dentist but I recently switched to Mount Royal. Holly was super friendly and caring. She made my first experience at Mount Royal Dental amazing.

Visits to the dentist aren't something I have looked forward to until I started going here. Jessica is a real gem and the dentists and all the staff are just the best kind of people. This is my favorite dental office I have been to.

Janelle was awesome. The whole deep cleaning process is pretty easy! A bit painful after the numbness wore off but Tylenol handle that pain. I am looking forward to the other half of deep cleaning.

Great experience at Mount Royal Dental. Staff was knowledgeable and courteous. I had Jessica as my hygienist and she was amazing! My family and I will definitely be back for future dental needs.

I really like the service providers! Dr. Zelen was amazing with my daughters laser revision on her lip and tongue ties! For myself and my other daughter the dental tech was SO amazing with my nervous 4 year old and made sure she was ok the entire time! Totally 5 stars! The administrative staff doesn't meet up to this same quality. Lots more work if you need things from that department. This for me is a 3 stars. It's taken months for paperwork! Not a big deal if you aren't needing funds to be reimbursed in a certain time frame.

I have been a patient with Dr Zelen since she opened Mount Royal dental. I live in Superior, so it's a bit of a trek for me, but she came so highly recommended I thought I would give her office a try. The rest is history. Whenever I have had an issue, I have had nothing but the best from all concerned in her office. She is VERY busy, but I have never felt like She didn't have time for my questions. The staff are all very concerned with a patients comfort and satisfaction. I never hesitate to recommend her to anyone. I have infact, had a friend with a problem not be able to get into her own dentist and had her call Dr Zelen's office. She was seen very shortly after that call. I will be her patient until I leave the Northland.

I have been going to Mount Royal Dental for a few years. I am very pleased with how friendly everyone is there. I have had many procedures like caps, root canal, fillings, cleanings, etc. They always make you comfortable during the procedure and I have never had a bad experience during or afterwards. Having just moved to Duluth it is a challenge to get reestablished with a host of new professionals. My husband and I had our first visit to Mount Royal Dental and I recommend them highly. Certainly they are professional but even more so they are truly caring and take their time with you, getting more than pertinent medical history but also taking time to understand more of who you are. We feel fortunate that our initial visit was so thorough and pleasant as well.

Guard your wallet with this dentist. They were not truthful to me about service costs in person and made me read the fine print to figure out actual costs after already administering services. Even after reading the fine print, they over-charged me. Extremely disappointed.
