Dr. Amy Kimes was born in Fayetteville and grew up in western NC. She attended high school at N.C. School of Science and Math in Durham, N.C. before graduating from UNC-Chapel Hill with a degree in Chemistry, and then completing her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at UNC School of Dentistry in 2002.
After completing her dental degree, Dr. Kimes began her service in the US Navy at Camp Lejeune by completing a one year Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) residency program. While at Camp Lejeune, Dr. Kimes joined the 22D Marine Expeditionary Unit to provide care for 2,200 Sailors and Marines. Dr. Kimes was deployed aboard the USS Shreveport and was stationed at Kandahar Air Base in Afghanistan with the 22D MEU. After returning from deployment, Dr. Kimes was reassigned to the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California. There she provided dental care for military officers pursuing advanced degrees.
In 2008 Dr. Kimes moved to Mount Olive to raise her family and practice general dentistry. She took over an existing dental practice that had been in operation since 1969. A massive rennovation of the office began, bringing new equipment, digital technology, and new fixtures into the office. We offer quality of service that we believe is competitive with a practice in any big city, but with a down home attitude.
Dr. Kimes philosophy is simple; prevention and restoration for the entire family. We want to help you and your family keep your smile healthy and beautiful for a lifetime, while performing the least amount of dentistry necessary to help you achieve dental health. The only way for you to have strong healthy smile is to have a good foundation. That foundation starts directly with a good doctor-patient relationship. Dr. Kimes knows it is important to take the time to listen to concerns and address them for each individual patient. Your smile says a lot about youand a lot about Dr. Kimes. She takes pride in helping you look and feel your best.
When not in the office, Dr. Kimes spends time volunteering as a dentist for childrens dental screenings. She is constantly attending advanced training around the country and was just awarded the prestigious Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry. A general dentist who is a Fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry (FAGD) has been recognized by other general dentists as a leader and exemplifies to other dentists the importance of quality continuing dental education. To earn the FAGD, a dentist must complete a minimum of 500 continuing dental education credit hours and pass a comprehensive exam. Dr. Kimes has been an AGD member for over ten years. Dr. Kimes is now working towards designation of Mastership in the Academy of General Dentistry. This requires an additional 600 hours in advanced training and represents a significant step up from the Fellowship designation. When your dentist has achieved the Fellowship Award, you can be assured that they are dedicated to providing the finest care in general dentistry.
In her personal life, Dr. Kimes enjoys spending time with her husband, Eric and three young children. She is an avid runner and loves to garden. She looks forward to getting to know you and your family, too!

So couldn't even been seen!! I had scheduled an appointment early in the month after not being able to make it I rescheduled BEFORE their appointment, they scheduled them for today! Called way before the time of their appointment and the receptionist claimed they had missed their appointment and could no longer schedule them! Why?!? There was no way they missed an appointment if it was today!? The appointment was never missed. Don't recommend because they can't keep up with the right info! Will definitely take my kids somewhere better!

Had an emergency happen that needed immediate attention. Called Dr Kimes office and I was seen and had the procedure done on the same day. Couldn't ask for a more accommodating staff. I love Dr Kimes office! Highly recommend.

Before going to Mt. Olive Family Dentistry I went to 2 other dentist offices and wasn't pleased with my experience. Dr. Kimes and her Dental staff are the best dentist office around they are friendly and make you feel like they truly care about your care and treat you like family and not just a patient/client. It is true what they say that you make your first impressions within 10 mins of entering a Doctor Office/Business. Dr. Kimes and staff explain everything that is going to be done and give you a chance to ask questions. I've researched multiple Dentist Offices before deciding on going to see Dr. Kimes glad I decided to make a appointment with Mt. Olive family dentistry. I have never been one to really like going to the dentist but Dr. Kimes and her staff make the experience a little more tolerable. again Dr. Kimes and staff are the best. If you need a Dentist I highly highly recommend Mt. Olive family dentistry

Best dentist I've ever been to. They are really friendly and respectful. Had my tooth pulled out and I was nervous, they offered me some NOS and numbed my mouth and I couldn't feel a thing. Would recommend Dr. Amy Kimes to anyone in the world!
