I love a good challenge whether its improving my chess game, learning to make sushi, or finding the best solution for my patients. I strongly believe each orthodontic case requires individualized and abstract thinking and a trusted relationship. Seeing a patient through the transformation from the beginning to end of treatment is the most rewarding part of my job. It never gets old to see a patient proud of their new smile.
Originally from West Orange, New Jersey, I earned my BS in Biological Anthropology and Anatomy with a Chemistry minor from Duke University and a Doctorate of Dental Medicine (DMD) from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in 2011. Afterwards, I completed my orthodontic specialty training at the University of Detroit Mercy in 2013, earning a Certificate in Orthodontics and a Masters in Oral Sciences.
In addition to being a member of the American Dental Association, Michigan Dental Association and American Association of Orthodontists, I am also a diplomate and board certified by the American Board of Orthodontics. Only one in three orthodontists share this achievement, and I am very proud of this honor to be a member of the ABO.
In my free time, I enjoy being active at the local gym and working on projects in my home in Royal Oak. I also love traveling the globe and am in competition with my younger brother to see who can reach all seven continents first. Hes currently winning. I had braces and countless oral surgeries when I was a teenager. Since then, I had been using my ancient retainer that desperately needed a replacement but I never quite got around to it. Orthodontists usually scare me! But I recently found myself in a position where I needed to get a new retainer quickly. That is where Motor City Smiles and Dr. Friedman came to the rescue. They were able to make an emergency appointment for me to get scanned for a new retainer. Dr. Friedman put me at ease throughout the entire process and I was pleasantly surprised at how fast my new retainer arrived! I would recommended Motor City Smiles and Dr. Friedman to anyone looking for a new retainer or really any other procedure. I wish I could have gone there when I first got my braces!

The treatment did not work. When I asked for a refund he refused and claimed he would report me to the credit agencies if I did not pay.

Dr. Friedman is an excellent orthodontist! I'm so happy with my Invisalign results. He is very knowledgeable and professional. In addition, he takes the time to customize each Invisalign tray for his patients. I highly recommend going to him if you are considering Invisalign or braces.

Dr. Friedman my God amazing. I had jaw pain and I used to get injections for my jaw pain constantly, then I saw Dr. Friedman and he recommended invisalign because my bite was screwed up. What a life saver. No more jaw pain and expensive injections for me. My teeth look amazing and most importantly no more pain. Thank you again Dr. Friedman.

I had been wanting to get Invisalign for a while because your smile is one of the first things people notice about you! This was a big investment and commitment so I wanted to make sure I made the right choice. After a lot of research and several consults with providers including TDR, Petrous Orthodontics, and Your Smile Orthodontics, I chose Motor City Smiles. I was really impressed with the courtesy, professionalism, expertise, and overall experience at Motor City Smiles. Of all of the providers, Dr Friedman was the one who made me feel the most confident he could give me the perfect smile I have always wanted. The best part was his treatment quote was more affordable than the other quotes I had received! I am almost done with my treatment and the process has been really easy throughout. Dr. Friedman has taken the time to make sure my smile is exactly the way I want it, which is awesome bc I'm a perfectionist lol. My smile already looks amazing, i highly recommend!

I started with my braces in south Florida and then moved to Michigan. I continued to go back to Miami for continuous care but decided to look for a local orthodontist. Met Dr. Friedman at Motor City Smiles and started working with him immediately. The level of care and attention to detail is phenomenal. Dr. Friedman gave me personalized attention and his staff was amazing. If you are looking for a phenomenal orthodontist, you should look no further. I rarely leave reviews but after being pleasantly surprised more than twice I had to. I have been so impressed since I first started my braces journey in Nov 2020. The staff is awesome and in a good mood every time I come in. When speaking with Dr. Friedman it was so reassuring to be told the truth and have the process and expectations explained to me. Its a plus that its so easy to get in contact with the office by phone or text! I would definitely refer this place to anyone.
