Implant dentistry has revolutionized cosmetic and restorative dental treatments giving patients the ability to permanently replace lost teeth with dental implants. Dental implants look and feel natural and are the best option for patients with missing or damaged teeth. We custom design our dental implants providing the most accurate fit, so you can feel confident when you smile and eat what you want without worrying. By providing our patients with an unparalleled level of effectiveness, convenience, and affordability, dental implants can literally change the way you live your life.

Dental implants are designed to provide a foundation for replacement teeth which look, feel, and function like natural teeth. If you've lost teeth, you can regain the ability to eat virtually anything, knowing that dental implants appear natural and your facial contours and your jawbone will be preserved.

Dental implants allow you to keep the rest of your teeth healthy. They help to prevent the deterioration of your jawbone, keep your face structure in place, and keep your still existing teeth from shifting. Dental implants help maintain anatomy. When you have missing teeth, you run the risk of the bones in your face shrinking. Bone loss can lead to your jaw line receding and changes in your facial structure. Lastly, expertly placed dental implants will not move around, which means the problems that dentures usually have are completely eliminated.

A dental implant is the best option to replace a missing tooth. In this procedure, a small titanium shaft is surgically implanted in to the bone and allowed to set. Once the implant is firmly set in their mouth, the dentist attaches the replacement tooth or crown on top of the shaft.

The dental implant process is completed in three main phases, typically over several months. During your first visit, we will place the titanium screw in your jaw bone. Eventually the bone grows around the shaft of the screw. This has to completely fuse with your jaw just like all of your teeth, which make take several months. Once the implant is firmly set in the mouth, the dentist attaches the replacement tooth or crown on top of the shaft ensuing a comfortable bite that fits in seamlessly with your smile.

You may require additional visits if bone grafting is necessary for successful implant placement. As with all other aspects of your dental implant placement, this is completes in our office by experienced dentists and periodontists.

There are several advantages to implants. Because your implant fuses into your jaw, it serves as a permanent solution for your missing teeth. The adjacent teeth are left alone, thus unaffected. Implants stimulate the surrounding bone preventing further bone loss which can occur after tooth extractions. When you lose a tooth, the jawbone at the location of the missing tooth will slowly begin to dissolve away-a process called resorption. By placing a dental implant or several implants to support your bridge, you stimulate new bone growth in the are, preventing bone loss and helping your jaw retain it's shape in the future.

Should the implant tooth ever wear out, another can simply be replaced on the implant. Dental implants will restore full function to your bite an will improve the appearance of your smile by filling the gaps.

Implants can also be used as support for a bridge or denture. This has several advantages. First, there is less adjustment period to acclimate the patient who only feels teeth rather than metal supports intruding into the mouth. Second, implants stimulate the surrounding bone and prevents continued bone loss that occurs after a tooth is extracted. Third, there is no discomfort or difficulty in eating with implants. Best of all, of course, they don't have to be taken out all the time.

Wisdom Teeth are the 'third molars' that erupt on both sides of your upper and lower jaws, usually between the ages of 17 and 21 after your other adult teeth have already come in. For many, these teeth emerge without issue or cause for concern. However, wisdom tooth extraction is a common necessity due to impacted teeth, infection, and tooth cramming.

There are several reasons why your wisdom teeth may need to be extracted. Your wisdom teeth may grow in where there isn't room in your jaws, cramming other teeth. Tooth cramming is painful and keeps you from having a straight, healthy smile. Wisdom teeth may be decayed, or grown at a severe angle. You may experience an infection as the site of an erupting tooth because it is difficult to effectively clean food particles from the area.

In all of these instances, your orthodontist may recommend that one or all of your wisdom teeth be removed. It might feel intimidating to need tooth extraction surgery, but this procedure is common and safe. There are several sedative and anesthetic options for wisdom tooth surgery.

The method you choose will depend on personal preference and your doctor's recommendation. Some prefer to be completely sedated during oral surgery so that they will not remember the experience. Others might feel comfortable with just a local anesthetic for a quick and direct procedure. Depending on what degree of sedation you choose, you may need to arrange someone to drive you home.

Wisdom teeth are not necessary for chewing and daily life. Once they are removed, you won't need to worry about any changes to your routine or diet after the initial recovery. Recovery is usually a short process, aided by prescription pain medication and a soft diet for a short time (one to two weeks). Following your surgery, you will need to follow some basic instructions in order to prevent infection or ripped stitches. These instructions may include some or all of the following:

The most important part of your oral surgery is your comfort level. Our staff will help you decide what degree of sedation is the best fit for you. AT Morrison Dental Associates, you can feel confident in your decision.

Fast facts that you need to know: Sleep apnea is a serious condition characterized by interruptions of breathing during sleep and has been linked to much more serious health problems like strokes, heart attacks, life-threatening high blood pressure, depression and diabetes.

Morrison Dental Associates - General dentist in Brunswick, GA

Sleep apnea is a potentially life-threatening medical disorder that causes the patient's body to stop breathing during sleep. The muscles in the patient's throat relaxes and the tongue may fall back and block the airway as the patients sleep, reducing the amount of oxygen delivered to all of the patient's organs including the patient's heart and brain. People with sleep apnea may snore loudly and stop breathing for short periods of time. The breathing pauses from sleep cause the patient's body to briefly wake while the patient remains unaware. This can happen hundreds of times per night.

In addition to snoring and excessive daytime sleepiness, sleep apnea can cause memory loss, morning headaches, irritability, depression, decreased sex drive and impaired concentration. When left untreated, sleep apnea can lead to hypertension, stroke, diabetes, heart attack and sudden death during sleep.

Sleep apnea patients are often older, obese and have thick necks - but it's important to note that men and women of any age or body type can have sleep apnea. The sleep disorder progressively worsens with age and weight gain.

The vast major of sleep related breathing cases go undiagnosed and untreated. An Institute of Medicine report found that an estimated 50-70 million Americans suffer from chronic sleep disorders such as sleep apnea. Excessive daytime sleepiness alone is costly and dangerous - studies show excessive daytime sleepiness costs the economy billions of dollars in lost productivity and nearly 1 of every 5 car accidents causing serious injury are associated with excessive daytime sleepiness.

Oral appliances are a front-line treatment for snoring and mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). These small plastic devices fit in the mouth during sleep like a sports mouth guard or orthodontic retainer.

Oral appliances help prevent the collapse of the tongue and soft tissues in the back of the throat, keeping the airway open during sleep and promoting adequate air intake. Oral appliances may be used alone or in combination with other treatments for sleep-related breathing disorders, such as weight management, surgery or CPAP.

Morrison Dental can provide oral appliances to patients with primary snoring or mild OSA who do not respond to or are not appropriate candidates for treatment with behavioral measures such as weight loss or sleep-position change.

Patients with moderate to severe OSA should be thoroughly examined by a sleep physician and have an initial trial treatment using a nasal CPAP due to greater effectiveness with the use of oral appliances.

Oral appliance therapy may be appropriate and effective for patients with moderate to severe OSA who are intolerant of or refuse treatment with nasal CPAP. Oral appliances are also indicated for patients who refuse treatment or are not candidates for tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy, cranofacial operations, or tracheostomy.

Oral appliance therapy involves the selection, fitting and use of a specially designed oral appliance that maintains an open, unobstructed airway in the throat when worn during sleep. Custom-made oral appliances are proven to be more effective than over-the-counter devices (which are not recommended as a screening tool nor as a therapeutic option).

Oral appliances are comfortable and easy to wear. Most people find that it only takes a couple of weeks to become acclimated to wearing the appliance. Oral appliances are small and convenient making them easy to carry when traveling, and treatment with oral appliances is reversible and non-invasive.

With so many different oral appliances available, selection of a specific appliance may appear somewhat overwhelming. Nearly all appliances fall into one of two categories. The diverse variety is simply a variation of a few major themes. Oral appliances can be classified by mode of action or design variation:

Morrison Dental Associates - General dentist in Brunswick, GA

Tongue retaining appliances hold the tongue in a forward position using a suction bulb. When the tongue is in a forward position, it serves to keep the back of the tongue from collapsing during sleep and obstructing the airway in the throat.

Mandibular repositioning appliances reposition and maintain the lower jaw in a protruded position during sleep. The device serves to open the airway by indirectly pulling the tongue forward, stimulating activity of the muscles in the tongue and making it more rigid. The device also holds the lower jaw and other structures in a stable position to prevent the mouth from opening.

In 2015-16 my 16-17 year old daughter had wisdom teeth cut out. I was told at the time her ins covered it. The morning of the finance lady at Morrison's to me the hadn't received confirmation of it I couldn't believe they would wait until then before they checked again. The procedure was done because I called the insurance people who told her it was covered but their computers were down. A couple years later I was being billed an ungodly amount by Morrison's saying ins didn't pay. I contacted ins once again. By that time they said they had no record of the claim being submitted or services being billed from them. My daughter is 23 now and they have put the supposed bill in her name holding her responsible. And also telling her she had it done in 2019 which is a lie. She did not have her braces off till 2016 which is when the procedure was done!!!

Bad experience! I've been going to Morrison dental now for a few years, currently in the middle of getting my second root canal done by them. However while in the middle of getting my 2nd root canal done my first root canal that I had done falls out after just one year. I paid almost $3000 to have this done. Honestly the first thing I told myself was I wasn't going to get upset that their sweet people and I know they're going to take care of me. They had no sympathy, or care for what I was experiencing. Because honestly I feel a root canal falling out of my mouth after just shortly a year that it wasn't done right. Wasn't asking for money back but was asking for a solution. Because now they're telling me that I'm going to have to have surgery to just go ahead and get an implant. Like I didn't just pay $3000 a year ago to have a root canal that was supposed to be forever. Very heartless to a valued customer that has been there patient for years now. My advice go somewhere else.

So I had food from one of the local chain restaurants (will remain nameless for legal reasons) and took a bite in to my food, only to bite into something hard that shouldn't be in Chicken Alfredo. I had to go to the ER because every dental facility was closed on a Sunday evening. The next day I called and called and one of the dentist facilities that had no openings had a nice lady that referred me to Morrison Dental after hearing what happened. She thought because they had surgeons on staff, they would be the right choice. She was right. The ladies at the front were kind and the assistant was so helpful. The dentist made me feel at ease even through my pain and he took care of me. My mom and my sister also came through in the clutch. I'm a blessed man and these are so blessed people at Morrison. They got a new patient as long as I'm I'm in Brunswick and even maybe after that.

I have been going to this dentist's group for over 10 years. As someone who has terrible dentist anxiety, this office is wonderful! I have never had an issue with any procedure -- from crowns to fillings -- and every single office staff member has been very courteous and helpful. I also have to commend the dental hygenists in this office for how they work with kids. I just had a cleaning about a week ago and the office was full of kids. Not one was crying and screaming. All of the hygenists were wonderful at making the kids feel safe and comfortable --- even working hard to make the visit fun! I work in an office near another dental group that caters to children and we literally hear kids screaming and crying all day. It is refreshing to have a dental group where the kids seem happy to be there.

My first visit was absolutely awesome. It wasn't a long wait and front desk was very professional and greeted me soon as I walked in. I went for a constellation, but end up getting a few teeth pulled at my first visit. I was so thankful to ever get fast service like that. I found my dentist and I will continue to go there. Thank you so much dr.felps you made me feel at home and welcomed. He made sure I was comfortable and talk me through my whole procedure. If I could rate a ten they deserve it

I called Morrison after spending a sleepless night due to excruciating tooth pain, they squeezed me in that day, even though they had their appointments filled. Dr. Brandt and her assistant were very caring as well as all of the staff. I also really appreciated how they screen patients for Covid and only take patients into the building separately so that you are never in contact with other patients. Update one year later: I almost never write reviews, but I feel compelled to add an update to counteract the few negative reviews. I highly recommend this practice, they have taken really good care of me throughout a significant amount of dental work over the past year. Dr. Brandt is my dentist; she is absolutely superb and truly cares about her patients. Amber is my dental hygienist; she is wonderful and very kindhearted. All of the dental assistants and office staff I have interacted with have been friendly and helpful. 5 star PLUS!

The front office staff and the dentists themselves aren't bad. I had three teeth extracted. However, I was prescribed a narcotic pain reliever afterwards that I had said, several times, that I am allergic to. I will absolutely own the fact that I took all meds, as prescribed, without even looking at what they were. I am an adult and absolutely should have known WHAT I was ingesting. That is MY failure. But when the office called me afterwards and I told Olivia about my violent allergic reaction and that my mouth is oozing pus, she said she'd call me back. She did not. She had Amy call me back. Amy was immediately rude and defensive. She claims no one knew about my allergy, even though I wrote it on my paperwork and discussed it with the office staff several times. When I called her out on her defensiveness, she asked what I wanted. I told her that some empathy and an apology seemed in order, but that that was obviously not part of her job description. She said that it was. I told her that she was failing and asked to speak to her supervisor. She said that she WAS the supervisor, and there is no one over her. Based on that information, I would NEVER recommend this dentistry office. No matter how great the rest of the staff is, if that's the "top dog" and the best they've got, you should steer clear.

I have gone to Morrison over the years and it's been mostly alright, and I do want to acknowledge that they have some good staff from Savannah who have helped me for surgeries. However, I saw one of the primary dentists for a cracked a tooth that was giving me severe pain and she said I needed a crown. The girl who took a mold of my tooth seemed unsure that she did it right, but she assured me that it was fine. Then, when I got the crown cemented on, they did not adequately numb the area and I was in excruciating pain throughout the 2 hour process as they kept having to put it on and remove it. Afterwards, the tooth still hurt so I went back, and they shaved it down to see if that would help. It did not help. They said that it should have helped but I was still in severe pain, and they offered no solution or follow up. I ended up going to different dental clinic and they booked me immediately to look at the tooth and decided that it was an obvious root canal situation and that I had pulpitis, and that I needed a root canal to begin with, not a crown. My tooth is fine now but it's frustrating that I paid for a totally unnecessary crown and had a painful experience plus months of unnecessary pain. I also had a minor filling on a front tooth that was stained that they claimed they could not do anything about, yet my current dental clinic was able to fix the spot in under a minute.

Called in pain with fear of infection. They got me in the next day. I have severe medical anxiety and Dr Brandt and her staff was very understanding. She put me on antibiotics and referred me to annoral surgeon so I can be put to sleep while the bad teeth are pulled. I highly recommend.

I am long-time customer of Morrison Dental Associates and have always found Dr. Kennedy a wonderful, caring dentist. However, when I needed an implant I was referred to 'Dr. Carson' who is now the in-house dental surgeon (previously people were referred to Dr. Capes on St. Simon's who is fantastic). After my surgery with Dr. Carson on 2/14/19 I complained repeatedly that I was in a lot of pain but he assured me there was no problem and that the implant was 'perfectly situated'. Apparently they had no open spots for my follow-up in March and the desk assistant told me he'd said to 'just book me in for June.' I was in so much pain, couldn't eat properly and losing weight. In desperation I returned to Dr. Capes who, following an examination and X-Ray explained that the rod 'Dr. Carson' put in had perforated my sinus cavity - not only that, but there was also a fragment of tooth left behind from the extraction prior to rod insertion. I have telephoned repeatedly but have had no reply from Morrions. The charge for implant surgery is no small amount and I had to pay for Dr. Capes to remove the improper rod and tooth fragment and also for a bone transplant to patch where the rod had been pushed right through the sinus cavity. I am a retiree and thought Morrisons would consider a refund as my surgery was extremely expensive yet such a disaster and I am having to pay all over again to have it done correctly, but to date they have refused to return my call. I would have left no stars if it were an option. I will never return to Morrisons Dental. How can someone who treats patients like this be in practice? CANDY BRANCATO

Horrible place, the told me my insurance didn't cover what I needed and it did, but they only wanted cash, I had to go elsewhere, why would anyone pay cash when they are covered, the office manager, I think her name is angie lied to me about everything trying to puff up the bill, I caught her in so many lies by the time it was over, they need someone that knows what they're doing, I saved over 1800 dollars by going to Aspen, who were absolutely the sweetest people ever, That angie was nothing but rude
