More Smiles Wisconsin (MSW) was founded in 2009 by two area dentists, under its previous name Madison Dental Initiative. This program began as a volunteer organization whose mission was to provide dental care to those in need.
During the clinics infant years, dental care was provided one evening per week via volunteers equipped with a mobile unit, portable x-ray, and donated supplies. Through the implementation of Medicaid billing, grant writing, and foundation/community support, MSW is now a 3 operatory clinic occupying roughly 1,000 square feet inside The Salvation Army Women & Family shelter in the heart of Madison, just four blocks east of the capital.
This long-standing partnership provides MSW with the means to serve in a high-need area of the city with 42% of our patients sharing our 53703 zip code. For over a decade, MSW has been providing care to Dane Countys most vulnerable residents with over 9,000 individuals having accessed care at the clinic.
MSW helps address the immediate needs of our patients. We then seek to educate them on the importance of good oral hygiene and provide them with many of the tools (toothbrushes, tooth paste, etc.) to help them maintain good oral healthcare on their own.
