At Moorhead Dental Associates, we believe that the more we understand your goals, the better we can serve you. This is why your dentist will spend time talking with you before your initial dental exam. If you do not have gum disease, you will meet with our hygienist for a thorough dental cleaning. Once we have compiled data and reviewed your records, your dentist will explain his findings and options for treatment.

After graduation, Dr. Skatvold served in the US Navy for four years, where he earned his Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) certificate from Naval Dental Center in Norfolk, VA. He was then privileged to take an assignment to Keflavik, Iceland for three years as a staff dentist for the naval base.
Upon completion of his tour in the Navy, Dr. Skatvold returned to his hometown of Moorhead, MN and started his own private dental practice. Dr. Skatvold maintains membership in the American Dental Association, Minnesota Dental Association, and Northwestern Minnesota Dental District and Spear Faculty Club.
Marcy graduated from Weber State College with a degree in Dental Assisting in 1986. She has worked with Dr. Skatvold since he began his practice in 2004. She takes great pride in welcoming each patient into our office. She can help with any financial concern and to assist with your scheduling needs. Her and her husband love to spend time at their lake home and spoiling their grandchildren!
Abby graduated with a degree in Dental Assisting from M-State Moorhead in 2012. She joined Moorhead Dental Associates in 2014. Abbys excellent care includes developing relationships with patients and helping them obtain beautiful smiles. Outside the office she enjoys time spent with family & friends, traveling & spending her summers at the lake!
Dani graduated from M-State Moorhead in 2010 with a Degree in Dental Hygiene. She has a passion for overall health which starts with a healthy smile. She loves getting to know her patients & helping them to feel comfortable in the dental practice. Away from work she enjoys spending time with her husband & 2 kids. Her favorite outdoor activities are hiking & camping!
Alissa graduated from M-State Moorhead in Dental Hygiene in 2017. She is passionate about her patients oral health and strives for a higher standard of dental care. Outside of work she enjoys running, she has completed the Fargo half marathon twice and plans on running it again in the future!
Kari attended M-State Moorhead to acquire a degree in Dental Hygiene. The most rewarding part of her career is forming trusting relationships with her patients and helping them achieve healthy standards of living. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband doing outdoor activities such as going to lake and hanging with her nieces and nephews!
Cally graduated from M State Moorhead in 2015. She joined Moorhead Dental Associates in 2015. She strives to provide a positive experience for anyone who walks into the office. Outside the dental office she enjoys running, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
Alyssa L. is from Annandale, Minnesota. She graduated from M-State Moorhead in Dental Assisting Program in 2018. She loves being able to help patients gain confidence in their smiles. Outside of the office, she loves to travel and spend the summer outdoors with her family!

I have always been terrified to go to the dentist. Even after pulling up for my appointment I almost left. But as soon as I walked in I was put at ease. They made me feel welcome and comfortable. Everyone in the office treated me with respect and dignity. They took care of my immediate needs and I now have a plan in place for my future dental needs.

I have always been very pleased with the service I get from Moorhead Dental Associates. Everybody is so friendly and make a person feel very comfortable. They are a very happy group. Had my semi-annual dental exam/cleaning which was a pleasant experience and hygenist was very courteous and descriptive of the process and findings. The hygenist did proceed the exam/cleaning in a backwards order and also used a water irrigation system instead of the standard scraping of teeth during the cleaning process which was definitely different from the norm. I understand technology and procedures change but I guess I'm used to the old fashion dental cleaning process and sequence of events with cleaning and then fluoride treatment. Overall the experience was positive though.

I had been seeing the same dentist for 25 years in Fargo... Yesterday, I had the amazing experience of seeing Dr. Skatvold for the first time as a new patient...oh, what a difference! Dr. Skatvold and his team are amazing. Dani was my hygienist and she was beyond fantastic! I am one of those people who see the dentist every 6 months like it is a religion and Dani handled my tooth-care like I had never experienced. I don't know how getting your teeth cleaned can be enjoyable, but with her it was. Dr. Skatvold was professional, thorough and very knowledgeable on how to help with my concerns. I am so glad I stepped out of my 25-year comfort zone with my previous dentist and switched to Moorhead Dental Associates. Truly a change in a very right direction for me.
