Dr. Mooney knew at a young age that he wanted to be an orthodontist. While wearing braces as a child, he saw how much fun everyone in the office was having. He also witnessed the positive difference his orthodontist made in the lives of patients, which influenced his decision to go into orthodontics.
Dr. Mooney completed his Bachelors degree in Biology and earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree as part of a combined six-year BA/DDS program in the College of Dentistry at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Dr. Mooney completed eight years of education in just five! Upon graduation, he joined the United States Navy Dental Corp as a general dentist. In 2003, he completed orthodontic specialty training and earned a Masters degree in Dental Science from the University of Tennessee, College of Dentistry.
Dr. Mooney has extensive experience teaching orthodontics, speaking at dental study clubs and meetings, and working with multi-specialist and multi-dentist teams to treat complex patient needs. He stays on the cutting edge of the latest advancements in orthodontics by by avidly reading the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, attending regular professional meetings and study clubs as well as self-study and collaborating with colleagues. He is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists.
In his leisure time, Dr. Mooney enjoys participating in Boy Scouts, coaching youth soccer, hiking, reading anything about history and spending time with his family. He and his wife, Nancy, have three children.

This information, along with Dr. Mooney's prescription, is sent nearly instantaneously after the patient consult to have Invisalign aligners, braces, orthodontic functional appliances and retainer treatments fulfilled.

Finding an orthodontist that excepts Aetna DMO insurance has been a challenge. Although, Mooney also does not except this insurance for my son's braces, their secretary, Nancy was extremely helpful in providing guidance as to whom may. She was very kind and it is a rare pleasure to speak with a staff member who exudes such professionalism. Great job, Nancy.

This is a great office to go to! Most people talk about how they hate getting ortho work done but this far I have yet to have a bad experience here and in fact, the last time I had an appointment, I also had scheduled a dentist appointment right next door at the family dentistry and I was getting cavities filled but they didn't finish in time for my ortho appointment. So I ended up being a little late to the ortho appointment and when I finically got there I was really upset about the dentist appointment as I've had cavities filled before but this time I felt like the guy did a really bad job and resulted in me needing a root canal. So I had to go back to the dentist after the ortho appointment and I was really not looking forward to it and to my surprise after dr Mooney's office closed he actually cared enough to walk over to the dentist office and check up on me. This man is truly an amazing orthodontist who really cares about his patients. I would totally recommend him to anyone needing any kind of orthodontic work.

Dr Mooney, Angie and Nancy are truly the best! My son has a rare issue with his teeth. He's missing numerous adult teeth and everyone here has taken his treatment in stride and has done an amazing job so far! We still have a long road ahead of us and I'm more than confident they can handle everything!!!

Dr. Mooney and his team are amazing! The assistants and receptionist are so welcoming and seem to really enjoy their work environment. They will also work with you on payment options if needed.

I just had the best experience here, they were amazing, it had a tropical paradise theme to the whole office, and it was peaceful and relaxing and very comfortable. The staff were as nice as can be, I brought in my 18 month old baby with me and they had toys and were so accommodating. The doctor was awesome, he explained everything. I will recommend to everyone in house financing, reasonable pricing, and free consultation, and there is another Dr right next door that does cosmetic work, how convenient! Cant wait to be proud and comfortable with my smile!!! Couldn't of found a better place!

My experience with Dr Mooney has been great. Him and the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. He always sets proper expectations for the course of your treatment and I am extremely happy with how my smile has progressed under their care. Highly recommended.
