Dr. Kevin Mooney is a native of Woburn and a cum laude graduate of Boston College and Georgetown University School of Dentistry. Upon graduation from Georgetown, Dr. Mooney began a tour of duty with the U.S. Navy Dental Corps, where he received advanced training in all the dental specialties. He was awarded the Navy Achievement Medal for outstanding professional service and Commanding Officers Award for Clinical Excellence, an award given to the best clinician in a Dental Clinic with 75 General Dentists and Specialists.
After completing his tour of duty, Dr. Mooney returned to Woburn where he has been in practice since 1989. He has been selected as Best Local Dentist in the Greater Woburn area for 20 consecutive years from 1997 to 2017 and was in Boston Checkbook Magazine multiple times for Boston Areas Best Dentist. He is a member of the American Dental Association, Massachusetts Dental Society, Eastern Middlesex District Dental Society and the Academy of General Dentistry.
In 2017, Dr. Mooney began a two-year sabbatical where he volunteered with multiple Dental Missionary trips, providing dental care to needy areas in the Appalachian Region and Cuba. He is excited to begin private practice again and is looking forward to seeing all former and new patients!
In July of 2020, The Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) announced that Dr. Mooney would receive their prestigious Fellowship Award, a credential that recognizes AGD members commitment to excellence in dental education. Dr. Mooney accepted this award along with 340 other recipients.
The AGD Fellowship Award is presented to dentists looking to provide the highest quality of dental care by remaining current in their profession. In order to receive this award, Dr. Mooney completed 500 hours of continuing dental education, passed a comprehensive written exam and fulfilled three years of continuing membership with the AGD. As a recipient of this award, Dr. Mooney has joined an elite group of more than 17,105 members of the dental community who understand that great smiles and good oral health for their patients are the result of going above and beyond basic requirements. The Fellowship Award symbolizes excellence in the dental profession and a commitment to providing exceptional patient care.
Becoming an AGD Fellow means a dentist has taken part in some of the most rigorous continuing dental education programs today, said Connie White, DDS, FAGD, AGD President. Only six percent of all dentists have achieved this designation, and we are proud to honor Dr. Mooney for his commitment and dedication to provide his patients with advanced and exceptional oral health care. He is exceeding industry requirements and paving a path of success distinguishing himself professionally amongst his peers and exemplifying his allegiance to the dental community.

I actually looked forward to my dental appt. today. And it wasn't just because I left work early. Dr Mooney and his staff aren't just oral nerds. They share their knowledge. I've left with a tip or big bit of info. If there's anything questionable going on in my mouth. They can fix me!

My first visit to Mooney Dental. Lots of parking in a lovely area. First impression: a very lively and happy staff. The ladies at the reception desk were warm and welcoming . Beautiful office with beautiful views. I was not particularly 'crazy' about the music. But that is because I am used to spa (elevator ) music in medical offices. But I will admit the music was upbeat and happy. The reason for my visit was to simply get a second opinion on a procedure my current dentist had recommended for me. I was simply not comfortable or 'sold on' the procedure. Not sure it was necessary. At first, I met with the hygienist who was very engaging and a good listener. She took her time with me. . .took a few xrays and picture and did a quick exam. I had already done a lot of research on the specific issue I needed the consult on. So , as she spoke, I recognized that she was very knowledgeable and experienced. And then Dr. Mooney came in for the consultation. He was very warm and gracious -- professional while being relaxed and outgoing. And he took his time in thoroughly examining my teeth, explaining to me what he saw, and the reasons for his diagnosis and recommendations regarding my specific concerns. He was also easy to understand. For those reasons, I felt very confident in his expertise. I highly recommend Mooney Dental.

Went in for my first dentist appointment in over 4 years since moving up north. Was referred here and couldn't be more pleased. Staff was welcoming, polite and energetic early in the morning! Had an appt. with Dr Tarpy and couldn't be happier with the work. Highly knowledgeable and friendly, took time to answer questions and address concerns. High tech outfit they run here, new age dentistry. 5star, found my new dentist.

I have been going to doctor Mooney for over 20 years and nothing has changed. His office runs like a well oiled machine and he always has the latest "state of the art" technology. The staff is friendly and very professional. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

Honestly the best Dental practice I've ever been too! Every person as soon as you walk in the door greets you with kindness and ensures your experience is wonderful! I have truly never been to another practice that treats each patient so well and really goes above and beyond. I have honestly never looked forward to going to the dentist so much! Each receptionist is so friendly, as well as all of the hygienists and both Dr. Mooney and Dr Tarpy! Really could not recommend this practice enough!
