Dr. Joe Moon was born and raised in Kansas by his parents who migrated from Korea in 1976 in search of the American Dream. Hard work and determination allowed them to achieve that dream, giving Dr. Moon the opportunity to pursue his own dreams.
Dr. Moon graduated as the valedictorian of his high school class and, after receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Kansas, he decided to pursue a career in dentistry.
He obtained an Ivy League dental education at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia where he finished at the top of his class and served as president of the class his entire four years of attendance.
One of his greatest achievements while in dental school was meeting his future wife, Beverly, who happened to be a classmate of his. After dental school, Dr. Moon and his wife both completed general practice residencies in New York City before relocating to Dallas, TX to practice dentistry.
Dr. Moon gained invaluable experience as a dentist but decided to continue his education. He relocated to Minneapolis, MN where he received his orthodontic specialty training and a masters degree at the University of Minnesota.
After completing his training, Dr. Moon moved his family back home to Kansas and has been practicing orthodontics in the Kansas City metro area for the last several years. His wife, Dr. Beverly Moon, practices general dentistry in Olathe, KS.
Dr. Moon is very involved in the community both personally and professionally including serving as the President of the Kansas Association of Orthodontists in 2016. Dr. Moon, his wife, and their three daughters, Isabel, Sophia and Grace, planted their roots in firmly Overland Park and look forward to growing with you over the years.

I can see why everyone RAVES about this place! I had Alex get my imagining- and she was SO sweet and friendly. Dr. Moon is incredibly personable and knows how to explain "things" in a way you can understand, he took his time to explain all the "whys" which I appreciated! Wouldn't go anywhere else!

I really enjoy going to moon orthodontics. They always explain to you what they are going to do and you get to see Dr.Moon every visit. Ive really enjoyed it so far and i can already see results and im not even done

To say I am impressed with Dr Moon is an understatement. He used to be an engineer and you can tell. He is very thorough in details with his explanation of treatment. He is also very honest. My daughter was told by two other orthodontist that she needed braces for her overbite. He said her overbite was only 10% and not needed, unless I wanna perfection she doesn't need braces. My son, wasn't great at wearing his bands to correct his overbite so he put him in an appliance and didn't charge him for the appliance saying he feels that's part of the treatment if it wasn't working , then it's not an additional charge. I am so happy that I chose him as our orthodontist.

We had a bad experience with another orthodontist & a friend referred us to Dr. Moon. We are so very thankful for him. He is patient, clear & detailed. Both of my sons have anxiety & one has autism, too, but Dr. Moon's gentle and patient approach made all the difference. We couldn't be happier with the job he & his staff have done.

Dr. Moon and staff are amazing! Dr. Moon is extremely thorough during treatment, which I appreciate since I am in the dental field as well. The entire staff is helpful from the minute you walk in until you schedule back on your way out. I recommend Moon Orthodontics and will be returning their with my children when they are ready for orthodontics!

I just started treatment here. Dr. Moon was my 2nd opinion because I did not like the attitude of the first orthodontist I saw who seemed like he couldn't care less about my concerns or questions. In fact he seemed annoyed by my questions. Dr. Moon was just so much nicer, answered my questions honestly and just seems like a good dude. Very glad I went for a 2nd opinion and chose his office for my treatment

10/10 recommend going to Dr. Moon he was extremely helpful in making decisions and coordinator Tami made the experience very comfortable and easy and also answered all my questions thoroughly and was very comfortable to talk to, their facilities are also very nice and professional. After another orthodontist removed braces too soon, leaving many teeth not touching on both sides of my child's mouth. Chewing isn't easy when your teeth don't touch. Dr Moon did an absolutely incredible job fixing someone else's mistake and creating a beautiful, FUNCTIONAL bite and smile! Dr Moon's knowledge and attention to detail gave us reassurance throughout the time of treatment. The office staff was always easy to work with and professional. 100% would recommend Dr Moon!
