Dr. Lindsey Meyer grew up in Sutherland, IA which is in the northwestern part of the state. She currently resides in Monticello, with her husband Rick and two children, Sophie and Harrison. She graduated from the University of Iowa with 2 degrees: a masters degree in evolutionary biology, and of course, her doctorate in dentistry.
She believes in a commitment to lifelong learning. She has earned her Fellowship from the Academy of General Dentistry and is also working towards her Masters from the same organization. Only a small percentage (6%) of general dentists achieve this recognition. She became an AGD fellow because she has dedicated herself to learning, growing and staying current in her field so that she can provide the best oral care to all her patients and their families. Because of her devotion to education and her patients, she is proud to be your dentist!
She is currently a member of the American Dental Association, Iowa Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, and the Dubuque District Dental Society. Dr. Meyer holds an officer position in many of these organizations. If she isnt at the dental clinic, you will find her out for a run or in her garden.
From the front office to the exam room, our practice is made up of professionals who take your oral health very seriously. Your safety and comfort are our priority. We value a commitment to life-long learning and take pride in educating ourselves in the current dental topics available. Just like any good dentist or healthcare practitioner, we believe prevention is the best medicine. We would rather see you twice yearly for your regular cleanings and exams, than not see you for years and have to treat advanced gum disease or do complex restorative work we think you probably agree. We do understand why many people avoid going to the dentist. Thats why we do everything we can to make your visits convenient and comfortable.
FAGD stands for Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry. Earning Fellowship takes dedication to dental continuing education (CE) beyond graduation. Only about 6 percent of general dentists in the U.S. and Canada are AGD Fellows. When you see a dentist with FAGD after their name, you can rest assured that they care about knowing the latest techniques and best practices in dentistry. AGD Fellows practice these techniques in a classroom setting multiple times a year not every dentist does this.
We know that the cost of care can be confusing. We give you up-front cost information on your treatment before beginning treatment. We are in-network with a variety of insurance plans, and we offer various forms of dental financing with credit available in time frames that fit your needs. We are happy to help you navigate your dental insurance and alternative payment options.
At Monticello Family Dentistry, we are qualified to handle all aspects of your care, so you are always surrounded by people that you trust. If we must refer out, we promise to send you to carefully vetted colleagues who apply the same professional principles in their office that we do in ours.
We respect and understand that many patients experience dental anxiety. At our office, we do everything we can to make sure that your experience is as enjoyable as possible. By communicating clearly what you can expect during your treatment, we are often able to alleviate dental fear. We encourage you to bring headphones and music to listen to during your treatment and ask us about dental sedation options.

My 2 girls had their first checkups here and I had a routine visit after a few years of no work. The technician I had was very kind and friendly. She took the time to explain things to me as she did procedures and answered my questions. Dr. Meyer was also wonderful. I also had some questions with billing and they were happy to work with me. My girls had great experiences and one of them is saying she wants to be a dentist when she grows up now- she's 4 so we'll see.

Ted said he was addressed when he walked in the door. He did not have to sit and wait for any length of time. Dr. explained everything to him and was very professional. Dr. called to check how he was doing after office hours, which is so thoughtful/respectful. This was his 1st visit and he would highly recommend Monticello Family Dentistry!

I had to come in for an extraction and was able to make an appointment and get the tooth removed on the same day. The staff was kind ,courteous and friendly. Even the day after I wasn't that sore which surprised me. They even looked into my insurance and found that I did have dental insurance so my bill got a little cheaper. I would recommend anyone with dental issues to check them out.

Dr. Meyer was amazing but I really enjoyed the hygienist, she was so kind and explained everything I needed done very thoroughly. I forgot her name but thank you for being so sweet and making me comfortable.

What a wonderful experience. Everyone is very pleasant and helpful. I've been to many dentist in the past and none of them quite had the right balance of knowledge and genuine caringness as Dr. Meyer has. Each time I have a visit , I never feel rushed or feel like a number as the Doctor and her staff do a great job making me feel valued and important.
