Dr. McKenzie Swangraduated Summa Cum Laude in the Honors College from Missouri State University with aBachelorsof Science in Biology. She then attended dental school at the University of Missouri Kansas City School of Dentistry to achieve her Doctorate in Dental Surgery.She describes her job as helping herpatients regainself-esteemand confidence by improving the esthetics, function, and overall oral health of their smile, throughcommunication, oral evaluation, diagnosis, education, and comprehensive dental treatment.
Science and health were always my favorite subjects in school, So I knew I wanted a job in the sciencefield thatwouldallow me to work withpeople and give me purpose, Dr. Swan says. I chose dentistry because it allows me to work with my hands and people every day, while also making adifference in the lives of others.
Dr. Swans path to dentistry was laid at a young age: I remember enjoying my dental visits and thinking that what they did was really cool! Going to the dentist as a child is what sparked myinterest in thefield and led me look into a career in dentistry, she says, adding, I am passionate about the Ronald McDonald House charities as I volunteered for their Ronald McDonald Tooth Truck in Springfield for 4 years during myundergraduateyears,and participated in several fundraising and volunteer events for them as they were alsomy sororitys chosen philanthropy. Working on the Tooth Truck made me passionate about providing oral health education and dentaltreatment to children in need.
Originally from Springfield, MO,Dr. Swan now lives in Kansas City, MO.When shes not creating self-confident smiles,shecan be found enjoying time spent with her sister and mother, whostill live in Springfield, or with her dog, a husky namedSkyy. Given a year off with pay and the ability to do anything, Dr. Swan says she wouldtravel the world seeing as many places asshecould while doing a few mission trips along the way to provide dental care to those inneed.I would go with family and friends and take my dog anywhere that I could!

My first visit and nobody likes to switch dentist. At least I don't. The staff made it very easy for me. Amy, my hygienist, did a fantastic job making me comfortable and explaining everything.

Having known Doctor Swan for the past 5 years, I anticipated she would be excellent in her work, and she is! For me she has a balance of sense of humor and professionalism. To say I'm terrified of dentists is an understatement after EVERYTHING I've been through. Waking up in the middle of the night with my face swollen and in pain was more than a nightmare to me. I had no choice but to swallow my fears and make a dental appointment. I contacted the Monticello office as a new client in a lot of pain. The receptionist went above and beyond to get me in asap and made everything very easy. Upon my arrival I was greeted with friendly staff who were incredibly helpful. The dental hygienist I had was AMAZING!!! She really took her time with me, explained everything out and made me feel comfortable. When I say she took her time with me this is what I mean: from the moment I entered the room I started having an anxiety attack and she was able to not only calm me down but she talked to me about her grandkids, tattoos, and etc to where it took my mind off the fact that the Dentist was all up in my grill lol. Now about the Dentist she was direct and straight forward in what needed to be done and was able to fit me into the schedule IMMEDIATELY which I was shocked about (in a good way). They made me feel like a priority. Did you know that a Dentist will personally call you the next day to make sure you are OK? I sure didn't.............I mean I've had a receptionist call me on behalf of the dentist but NEVER the actual dentist to check on me. You could of pushed me over with a feather when I heard the actual dentist on my voicemail. If you want a dental office that puts YOU first and knows what the hell they are doing, than this is the place for you. I will be going back and hopefully next time I won't be such a mess. Friendly staff. Dental Assistant makes sure you are comfortable and no pain. Actual Dentist was also caring and helpful and made me feel comfortable through my fillings. I would recommend Monticello to anyone!!

My appointment was for routine cleaning but my dentist was able to replace one of my fillings without me needing to make another appointment. The dentist was very gentle and caring

They were very caring and accommodating when I was getting my permanent crown after i hurt my shoulder. They were gentle and my experience was very good. I love this dentist and the assistants. Also the front desk people are great.
