For the 14th year in a row, the Childrens Hospital at Montefiore (CHAM) has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of the nations best pediatric hospitals. In the 2021-2022 Best Children's Hospitals list, Neonatology, Pediatric Cancer and Gastroenterology & GI Surgery rank among the top 20 programs in the country, and Nephrology and Neurology & Neurosurgery are in the top 50. CHAM is also highlighted as the number three childrens hospital in New York State a new accolade to help families find the highest quality care in the region.

As we mark CHAMs 20th anniversary, we couldnt be more proud of our colleagues who heroically provide the most advanced and specialized care to children with a wide range of health challenges, said Michael D. Cabana, MD, MPH, Physician-in-Chief at CHAM and The Michael I. Cohen, MD, University Chair, Department of Pediatrics at Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

This year, the specialty of Neonatology at CHAM ranks as number 19 in the country for the outstanding and compassionate care delivered to the most fragile newborns, enabling them to grow and thrive. Patients like 20-year-old Skye Saunders, who was born at 24 weeks and battled multiple medical issues, including brain bleeds and vision impairment. Today, she is a junior at Purchase College where she recently received an award for community service, academic accomplishments, and her ability to overcome obstacles. Skye, a mentor to children with disabilities, who is graduating from college early with a double major in journalism and history, is a testament to the CHAM neonatology team, and her family.

The earlier babies are born, the more health?, behavioral?and developmentalproblems they tend to experience, said Deborah Campbell, MD, FAAP, chief of Neonatology, CHAM and Professor of Pediatrics at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Our goal is to ?partnerwith?and empower ourfamilies to ?be active participants in themultidisciplinary team of experts; provid?ingthe best possible care for infants ?andgiving them a solid foundation for achieving lifelong health.

In the Bronx, 1 in 10 babies is born preterm before 37 weeks of pregnancy. The rate of preterm births is highest for Black infants (11.5%), followed by Hispanic babies (9.7%). These babies can be very small, having a low birthweight and immature organs requiring sophisticated therapies to help them breathe and feed. Every year, the Neonatology team at CHAM successfully cares for hundreds of seriously ill newborns from the Bronx and throughout the Hudson Valley.

For the 2021-2022 Best Children's Hospitals list, U.S. News gathered data from 118 childrens hospitals in early 2020 and from pediatric physicians and other healthcare organizations in 2021. Data collection from childrens hospitals was not repeated in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Best Children's Hospitals methodology includes objective measures, such as patient outcomes, including mortality and infection rates, as well as compliance with best practices.

Montefiore Einstein Cancer Center has again been recognized in 2021 with Three-Year Accreditation from the Commission on Cancer (CoC) of the American College of Surgeons. This honor reflects Montefiore-Einstein's outstanding clinical care, ground-breaking research, unparalleled social and emotional support, and positive outcomes for patients. The structure of our teams across Montefiore Einstein is uniquely distinct. With fourteen disease-based multidisciplinary teams and corresponding tumor boards, every colleague shares a drive to provide comprehensive, patient care.

As part of comprehensive care, our Cancer Center provides a full complement of support services to all patients, from transportation to nutrition to lifelong patient follow-up. Our Bronx Oncology Living Daily (BOLD) program provides psychosocial support, including free counseling, support services, wellness workshops, educational sessions, and peer support to people with any type of cancer diagnosis, their family members.

Montefiore-Einstein is also currently running 130 National Cancer Institute Community Oncology Research Program trials with a goal to reduce health disparities. 'We have one of the highest proportions of minorities enrolled in clinical trials,' says Katia T. Papalezova, MD, Surgical Oncologist, Department of Surgery, Director, Melanoma/Soft Tissues Program, Montefiore-Einstein, and chair of Montefiore 's CoC Cancer Committee. The Montefiore Einstein Center for Cancer Carewas specifically recognized for its research partnership with Albert Einstein College of Medicine as well as for multidisciplinary and team-based care delivery, centered on patients and use of nurse navigators to coordinate and guide each step of the care process.

The Stern Stroke Center at Montefioreis a comprehensive stroke center designated by the New York State Department of Health. The Center treats more than 1,200 acute stroke patients per year, making it the second most visited stroke center in New York State. Meeting the States strict criteria demonstrates the strength of Montefiores highly skilled multi-disciplinary team, as well as our commitment to the quality care of our stroke patients.

Bronx, New YorkApril 22, 2022Montefiore Medical Center (Montefiore) has notified certain patients about an incident involving the unauthorized access of personal information. In November 2021, Montefiore learned that an employee may have improperly accessed patient records from its electronic medical record system in violation of its policies. Between November 23, 2021 and March 31, 2022, Montefiore further investigated the incident and determined that the employee inappropriately accessed patient information without a role-based reason between January 2018 and November 2021. The employee was suspended during the investigation and was subsequently terminated. In addition, Montefiore referred this incident to law enforcement to support possible criminal prosecution.

The patient information accessed by the former employee may have included demographic data, such as first and last name, medical record number, address, phone number, email address, date of birth, health plan name, and/or last 4 digits of Social Security number. There is no evidence that clinical information, full Social Security numbers, credit card numbers or any other financial information were accessed.

Montefiore performs criminal background checks on all employees and has a robust compliance program, which includes comprehensive policies and procedures, including a strict Code of Conduct that prohibits employees from looking at patient records unless there is a work-related reason to do so; ongoing training of its employees; and both random and targeted audits of medical records access. Montefiore has taken additional steps to try to prevent this type of incident from occurring in the future, including training its employees on their privacy obligations.

While Montefiore does not have evidence that any of the information accessed has been misused at this time, as an added precaution, Montefiore is offering impacted patients complimentary identity theft protection services through IDX, a data breach and recovery services expert, for one year. This notice is being provided in accordance with the substitute notice requirements of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, as amended by Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act. Won't dentist ever, walk in are from 9am - 11am but they only accept 5 people. After that you have to make a appointment. That's not a walk in center. They could clearly see my mouth swollen and I made sure to call and spoke to someone the day before. Who told me to get there at 9am I was on that line since 8:30 am. If I knew before hand they only see 5 people as walk in I would have went home . I was the 6th person in line. Black lady standing there is rude and disgusting. If I could give no stars I would. If there was a sign there that said they only accepting 5 people I would have left. Also no appointments until next year .

I've been going to this dentist since young however it's been some time since I've had to go to the dentist. I've currently been having issues with my wisdom teeth and I've been trying to contact them for hours no answer and I've even left multiple voicemails and nobody has yet contacted me. I've literally called over 30 times since 9 am and it's not even 11 Am yet and not once person has answered the call just to confirm a simple appointment!!! If I could give 0 stars I would they never answer phones or return calls my daughter had a 10 am appointment it is now 1138 and we are still waiting I've seen people come after us get seen when I ask they tell me to have a seat and wait. After her visit my daughter had a blister on the side of her mouth which turned into a infection by Sunday her lip was swollen she couldn't even close her mouth to drink when she tried it just dribbled out
