Dr. Mehdi Karimipour graduated from the University of Los Angeles, CA, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. After publishing an article on evidence-based dentistry, he decided to pursue a dental career and attended Tufts University School of Dental Medicine on a merit scholarship. Throughout his education he achieved awards for excellence in clinical achievement and skills in operative dentistry. After receiving his DMD, Dr. Karimipour attended a three-year dental residency program specializing in Prosthodontics at the University of Alabama and VA Hospital at Birmingham, Alabama.
While earning his Masters Degree in Dental Materials, he provided dental services to a non-profit organization to help meet the needs of children in underprivileged and under-served communities in rural cities.
Continuing at UAB for an additional year, Dr. Karimipour obtained a sub-specialty training in Maxillofacial Prosthodontics to serve the prosthetic and medical needs of patients who have lost physical structures (through cancer, congenital and developmental defects) of the head and neck. He fabricates his own prostheses, both oral and facial, in-house and receives personal fulfillment by providing a unique service to help improve the quality of life of such patients.
Dr. Karimipour is a member of the American College of Prosthodontics, the American Academy of Maxillofacial Prosthetics, the Academy of Osseointegration, the American College of Fixed Prosthodontics, the Massachusetts Dental Society, the International Academy of Prosthodontics, the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, the American Dental Association, and the International Academy of Anaplastology.He also volunteers at the Department of Prosthodontics and Operative Dentistry at Tufts and works part-time as a prosthodontist at the Veteran Affairs hospital in Jamaica Plain.
His expertise includes treating patients in all phases of prosthetic dentistry such as full-mouth rehabilitation, with and without dental implants, smile makeovers and aesthetics, Botox, TMD treatment, sleep apnea, fixed restorations (crowns, bridges, veneers, onlays, inlays), removable prostheses (partials, complete dentures), obturators for cleft lip and palate, and also implant or adhesive-retained nasal, auricular, and orbital prostheses. Dr. Karimipour is also Invisalign certified.
During his spare time, Dr. Karimipour enjoys playing table tennis and once placed second at the NCTTA. Hiking, bicycling, snowboarding, snowshoeing, and exploring the New England area with his wife and daughter are also among his favorite things to do.
Dr. YiChen (Jenn) Wei obtained her bachelors degree in biology from the University of California, Riverside, and dental degree from Tufts University, School of Dental Medicine. She also completed a general practice residency from Stony Brook University Hospital in Long Island, New York. After four years in private practice working as a general dentist, Dr. Wei realized her passion for saving teeth and returned to Tufts University for her specialty degree in endodontics. In addition to private practice, she is a clinical instructor teaching both undergraduate dental students and postgraduate endodontic residents at Tufts.
Dr. Wei uses state-of-the art technology such as an operating microscope, digital imaging, ultrasonic instrumentation, and fiber optics, to provide the most optimal care for her patients. She is an expert in performing both non-surgical and surgical root canal treatment, root canal retreatment, diagnosing cracked teeth, treating tooth pain, and managing traumatic injuries to teeth.
Cherilyn is Office Manager and has been with Modern Dentistry for over 10 years. She is also a Licensed Dental Assistant in Massachusetts with over 18 years of clinical experience (10 years with Modern Dentistry). As an Open Wide Foundation volunteer, she has traveled to Guatemala, donating her services to those less fortunate. Cherilyn was awarded a diploma in Dental Assisting from Everest Institute in May 2003.
Lindita has been working in the dental field for over 11 years. She has thoroughly enjoyed the many experiences and different job responsibilities shes had thru her journey. As our insurance and patient coordinator, it gives her great pleasure to ensure patients experience is smooth and pleasant from start to finish. Lindita joined our practice in September of 2019. She is very grateful for her opportunity to work with Modern Dentistry, working together to accomplish quality care for our patients.
Gina has 21 years of experience as a Registered Dental Hygienist. She obtained her Associates degree in Dental Hygiene from Forsyth School of Dental Hygiene in 2000. She continued and earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Northeastern University in 2001. Gina is passionate about the dental profession.
Melissa graduated from the dental assisting program at Porter and Chester with high honors in 2014. She has seven years experience and has been with Modern Dentistry since 2017. Melissa strives to make your visit at Modern Dentistry a positive one.

I was severely disappointed in Modern Dentistry. I went in for a simple cleaning and as soon as I sat in the chair the dental hygienist Gina immediately started off with the periodontal probe evaluation. (bad vibes the whole time) She was very heavy handed and doing it very quickly pressing it in harshly which can totally skew the results and cause pain to the patient, According to another dentist I consulted with. (She was horrible!) Very rude abrasive personality. Dentist Mehdi swooped in like a vulture and started the "used car salesman pitch" trying to push crowns or veneers in which they grind your natural teeth down to stumps to get these things on. (No Thanks! I simply wanted a cleaning! I will say that the 2 ladies in the front reception area Cherilyn and Lindita seemed to be good hearted people. Gina showed me on the monitor an area of tartar and tried to play it off like my whole mouth was like that. (This was not the case) I check my teeth with a dental mirror frequently. I was just getting bad negative vibes from dentist Mehdi and Gina during this whole process. To top it all off they had the nerve to charge me $187.00 evaluation fee for this nightmare of an appointment. I honestly felt like I got assaulted and robbed! I don't recommend at all. My quest continues to find an honest dental practice where they don't push for things that aren't needed to fill their pockets.

Really disappointed with our experience lately at Modern Dentistry. My husband and I both noticed that the last 3 dental cleanings we've had, there's been no dentist present at the end of our appointments. This really seemed odd to us. It was also off putting that at my last 2 cleanings, the hygienist had said that I needed major work done and there's been no dentist to examine my mouth after. That's an issue and doesn't seem right. So we are looking elsewhere.

(She was horrible!) She then refused to do the standard cleaning until I paid $1200.00 dollars for the "deep cleaning" Dentist Mehdi sat nearby and seemed to endorse this behavior. Dentist Mehdi swooped in like a vulture and started the "used car salesman pitch" trying to push crowns or veneers in which they grind your natural teeth down to stumps to get these things on. (No Thanks! I simply wanted a cleaning! I will say that the 2 ladies in the front reception area Cherilyn and Lindita seemed to be good hearted people. The dentist I later spoke to about this actually agreed to a free consultation and the probe numbers were quite different. they did say there was some gum recession in the back upper molars that could use a little extra attention and had some calculus. Gina showed me on the monitor this area of calculus and tried to play it off like my whole mouth was like that. (This was not the case) The other dentist showed me my whole mouth not just one area) It in no way warranted $1200.00 dollars worth of deep cleaning. They were appalled that another dentistry would engage in this type of practice. At this point knowing what I know now and feeling the bad negative vibes from dentist Mehdi and Gina during the whole process, I would not even accept the $1200.00 deep cleaning if they offered it for free. They shattered any trust that I originally extended to them. To top it all off they had the nerve to charge me $187.00 for this nightmare of an appointment. I honestly felt like I got assaulted and robbed! I trusted that these people would do the right thing and help a person in need of dental care and compassion. I was wrong.

Their receptionist must've been having a bad day because I didn't even get to make an appointment... lol As I was saying it was fine to come in said day she hung up in my face. All I said was "that's fine ma'am, thank you." and that was it. Maybe she was offended I called her ma'am but to me that's being respectful. Anyway, I'm sure the dentists are good but I'm not trying that again.

Going to the dentist can be painful, so it should always be a comfortable experience regardless. I have been going to Modern Dentistry of Shrewsbury for years and it has always been a good experience. I like the fact they do all the work there and don't have to send you to another location to continue what ever your issue is. They are always professional.

Staff is very professional and welcoming. The exam was very thorough but still quick, and it was reiterated many times to speak up about anything making me uncomfortable throughout it. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a dentist.

I've been a customer of Modern Dentistry of Shrewsbury for the better part of 6 years and with each interaction with the awesome staff, I am reminded that I am lucky to have them as my dentist. They take great care of their patients, have a clean and modern facility with tons of modern tech, and are not using my cleaning appointments to upsell me on other services, something I have dealt with from other dentists. Highly recommended!

Amazing. Dr. Mehdi and his staff went the extra mile so that I was happy with work I had done. Never once making me feel uncomfortable with my requests. They explain everything they do along the way and always ask if your doing ok too.

Since I changed to Modern Dentistry over a year ago. I love it. Everyone is friendly and they do a great job. Just had two crowns done and love the job they did. They want to make sure everything is fine before you leave. I would recommend if you are looking for a dentist to go here.
