Raul grew up in Valley Center, a town in San Diego County. With two older siblings and loving parents, he enjoyed all the benefits of being raised in a rural community. Following high school, he attended University of California, San Diego, where he double majored in Cell Biology/ Biochemistry and Economics. Raul was torn between pursuing his dreams of being a dentist or working as an economics analyst. Once he completed college, he worked for a few years in San Diego and Amsterdam as an energy economics analyst. He then decided to pursue his career as a dentist by committing to Temple University School of Dentistry in Philadelphia. Fortunately, for Dr. Contreras his college sweetheart and wife was also attending medical school in Philadelphia at the same time. After graduation from dental school, Dr. Contreras joined his wife in Oakland, where she completed a medical residency. The couple have two young children that keep them very busy.

Dr. Contreras and crew were great!!! I drove 40 minutes just to try out their new location. Definitely worth the drive and was in-and-out pretty quick. He identified the problem and had a filling put in on the spot! Ill be back for cleaning and all other of my routine maintenance. Patrick

I am what people refer to as an anxious dental patient. The staff was so friendly and accommodating, and the office is just beautiful. Dr. Contreras was super friendly, and was very kind in explaining what he was doing so I felt comfortable. Kimberley

Exceptionally skilled, honest and compassionate. Dr. Raul Contreras of Modern Dentistry of Novato is the perfect dentist. He handled my very challenging and unusual dental needs for an implant that had been started by my previous dentist - but not completed (I had recently moved to this area). Dr. Contreras fixed everything and followed through. There is nobody like him. I felt as if I was in control of my dental treatment and my dental needs were being handled by the very best. You can trust him. (BTW his office and dental staff is great. They do everything they can to make you comfortable.)

Great dentist. Super-friendly staff. Relaxed atmosphere. They do great handling my husband's crazy teeth grinding situation and my son's endless cavities. No stress about which insurance, etc. Took us a while to find a dentist that worked for us, so very happy to have this one close in then north bay.
