An intraoral camera is an indispensable diagnostic and educational tool. The tiny video camera moves around inside of your mouth and generates a tooth by tooth video exam of your teeth. Using an intraoral camera allows patients to better understand their dental needs by seeing what the dentist sees and then having it explained.
Lasers are a non-surgical approach to arresting the progression of periodontal disease. Following scaling and root planing, a laser is used to significantly reduce the bacterial colonies and decontaminate the infected periodontal pocket. Lasers also remove the infected tissue lining the periodontal pocket. As the infected tissue is removed, microscopic blood clots form and your body's natural healing response takes over. As you heal, the tissue reattaches to the bone and your gums return to a healthy infection-free state.

I highly recommend Dr Smith and his team for your dental needs. I really appreciate how he takes the time to educate you and explain the "why" behind his recommendation. I used to have a lot of anxiety about going to the dentist but that seems to have gone away. Iveta is a rock star hygienist and the rest of the team is always extremely friendly and caring. Additionally, the office is clean and they are up to date with the latest technology. Only good things to say about Modern Dentistry of Northfield!

It was my first time here and I can say it's probably the best dentist experience I've had. Dr. Smith explained everything in detail and didn't rush through my exam. My dental hygienist Iveta made sure I was as comfortable as possible while she did deep cleaning that is usually the worst experience. Thank you both!

I broke my back molar while I was out of town over and started searching for dentists through my insurance. Modern Dentistry of Northfield had great reviews so I gave them a call. The place looks great inside and the staff greeted me right away and gave me a mask while I waited in the lobby. Laura took all my dental xrays, did my cleaning, and assisted Dr. Smith... She was very efficient and sweet! Dr. Smith greeted me with a smile, he was cracking jokes and make me laugh; putting me at ease. He told me I needed a crown and for safety measures suggested I may need a root canal. I was appreciative that Taylor, my Texas brother (lol), one of the assistants walked through the costs which I truly appreciated as this was my first major dental purchase. And good news, no root canal was needed! Phew... As I hadn't been to the dentist in a year, they gave me a cleaning and talked me through my gum health, and Laura gave me a blanket, and made sure I was comfortable. I've already scheduled my next cleaning and HIGHLY recommend Dr. Smith. They made the crown in the office so I didn't have to go back in and I purchased the CEREC crown as it lasts longer and looks natural and has a 5 year warranty. Thanks for the AMAZING EXPERIENCE, hands down the best dentist I've ever had!

5 out of 5! Would recommend and do again! Dr. Smith and his staff, especially Iveta, are incredibly professional, kind, and caring. The entire process from making an appointment, to check-in, cleaning, exam, and check-out was super easy. The hygienist, Iveta, put me at ease from the time we met all the way through the cleaning. Dr. Smith took time to answer my questions and explained the results of my exam thoroughly. Looking forward to the next visit!

No one likes to go to the dentist, NO ONE! I for one am guilty of letting my oral care go to the toilet! In addition I also now needed dental clearance for hip replacement surgery! I visited two dentist offices and came out fearing the worst...complete upper and lower dentures! I remembered that my wife had a emergency crown done at Modern Dentistry that went very well. When I walked in for my initial consult, I was treated like a human being with dignity and respect! From the first moment! With Meagan and Chelsey at the front desk, thank you for helping me understand my bill! Dr. Brian Smith, thank you for putting me on the right track with my dental needs! My smile says it all! Thanks to all the dental assistants for putting up with Dr. Smith's and I's musical choices! It was fun! The team you have down there is top notch! I now feel comfortable going to my dentist! Dr Smith and his staff were amazing. From the easy breezy online portal and check in process, to the welcoming first visit, I have nothing but positive things to say. I recently switched dentists after being with the same boutique office downtown for about 15 years. I feel like I made a great move! The updated tech and competitive pricing was exactly what I was looking for. Dr Smith calmly walked me through each step while getting a crown and his assistant kept me comfortable. There was nothing scary or painful with my crown whatsoever. Dr Smith has great chair side demeanor which made me super relaxed. The quick 3D on-site crown printing helped me get in and out in a jiffy. I was so grateful for such a great experience that went next door and bought the staff churros! (Sorry- they didn't have a sugar free option!! Ha!) Thanks for everything! I found a great new dental home! And it sounds like Dr Smith has set the bar from previous experiences before he took over the practice. Definitely come back for another try! He is a fabulous dentist!

In my years of going to dentists, by far this has been the best experience with Dr. Smith and the awesome staff!! I had 4 wisdom teeth pulled thinking it was going to be a long and painful procedure, but honestly it was the total opposite with level of comfort and care from Dr. Smith. Highly recommended for all dental care needs!!

I went for my first visit with Dr.Brian Smith in Dec of 2021 as more of an emergency situation with a variety of dental issues. At that time he helped me navigate through what needed to be done immediately and what the long term plan would look like. He worked with me to get all of the work done in a timely manner with the least amount of discomfort and anxiety due to my bad dental experiences in the past. We are completely done with the plan and I couldn't be happier looking back at all aspects of their practice. Everyone was understanding, helpful, and respectful of the fact that I lived out of town and have a son who is immune compromised. I cannot recommend Dr. Brian highly enough he walked me through some of the worst dental problems you can have and always kept me in good spirits while doing it. Work completed: 2 teeth pulled, a partial while deciding what to do with one of the missing teeth, a root canal, bridge, 2 crowns and a deep cleaning.

This place definitely screwed me over money wise, said I needed all this work done. After going to another office, I found out they were conning me at modern dentistry. I wish I would've realized how much money they took from me. They screwed up insurance claims and ended up owing me hundreds after I left. They also charged my husband $750 (with good insurance) to laser treat his gums... our new dentist emphasized how this wasn't necessary and my husband needed to just get better with flossing... 750$ down the drain!! Trust me go somewhere else, anywhere else!

Amazing!!!!!!! He explains everything thoroughly and real wants client there as maintenance and not for main reasons. He is beyond amazing!!!!!! Highly recommend!! After having an awful experience with my old dentist he gain me the reassurance that not all dentist are awful. You can tell he loves his job and his clients
