At Modern Care Endodontics, our doctors, possess extensive knowledge and expertise in clinical endodontics and sincerely care about you as a patient and will personalize their treatment for your individual needs.
Because of our doctors expertise, he is often invited to serve on special committees and speak to professional organizations both nationally and internationally. Additionally, he holds in-office continuing education for dentists and specialists alike to advance the field of dentistry.
All of our licensed dental assistants are proficient in procedures and protocols specific to root canal therapy. Our front office staff will help you understand your financial options for paying for treatment and can assist with dental benefits and insurance reimbursements.
He then moved to Denver, Colorado and attended Dental School at University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. After his DDS degree, Dr. Simonton received additional advanced training as a general dentist working with several different specialists in the field attending a general practice residency at the Anschutz Medical Campus and the University Hospital. There, he obtained extensive training in oral surgery procedures, root canal treatments, sedation, and managing medically compromised patients. He then moved to San Antonio Texas to obtain a specialty certificate in Endodontics at University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He also worked at the VA hospital providing endodontic care to our veterans.
Following completion of his residency, Dr. Simonton and his family moved to Minnesota where they fell in love with the beautiful green landscapes, outdoors, and friendly people, along with great schools and community. Dr. Simonton limits his practice to the specialty of Endodontics utilizing the most advance technology and research-based procedures available, allowing him to provide the highest level of specialty care.
Dr. Simonton, his wife Cassie, and their five children have lived in Minnesota for the past 12 years and enjoy being a part of Minnesota. They enjoy the four seasons, the green outdoors, and the vast amount of lakes that surround the area. They enjoy spending the summer on the boat with family and friends and snow activities in the winter and everything in between.
He completed his undergraduate studies and graduated from Dental School at the University of Pittsburgh. He worked for 2 years in general dentistry before going on to complete his endodontic residency at the University of Pittsburgh.
He moved to Minnesota in 2016 where he worked in Rochester, MN for 2 years before joining Modern Care Endodontics. Dr. Shen loves the friendly people of Minnesota (Minnesota Nice is real!) but does occasionally miss the mountains. He has not yet become a fan of Minnesota winters but loves the Minnesota landscapes. On his time away from work, Dr. Shen enjoys taking walks with his wife and son.

I had more of a complicated root canal done (canal was split into 2) but Dr.Shen and his team made me comfortable and did a fantastic job! Would highly recommend

My Son had a root canal done today and even though I did not get a pre estimate and had a nice hefty bill due after, my Son was comfortable. I am also glad that my insurance pays a portion for OON out of network providers but also taught me to get those pre estimates in writing and always check with insurance for in network options. It definitely helps to have dual insurance and my Son was happy and comfortable so that is most important.

I am really disappointed in this practice. I was referred here by my dentist to perform a root canal. I was quoted $400+ dollars after my insurance coverage. First of all, they seem to be doing some imaging that the insurance wouldn't cover and that I had to cover it out of pocket. Two, they don't complete the root canal procedure due to a crack in the tooth. They patch me up and send me on my way. I come to the reception desk and I am told I now owe them $800+ because the procedure was not completed and the insurance doesn't cover incomplete procedures. I was never told that it would cost me more for incomplete work. Its like having a contractor quote you for work, but only do half the job and demand the entire amount. I was so irate. This is unethical and poor business practice. They could've at least offer some sort of a discount since they didn't complete the work. Never going there again.

Dr. Chen did my root canal and I was very happy with him and the assistant. I found Dr. Shen to be quiet and calm and that is exactly what I needed. Only slight cold sensitivity but no pain after the novocaine wore off.

Top notch service from this clinic. I saw Dr Shen for a root canal and as phobic as I am about seeing the dentist he did a wonderful job keeping me comfortable and relaxed. I am 100% pain free!! Definitely would recommend this clinic to anyone!!
