After entering private practice in 1990 in Pacific Beach, Dr. Friedman moved his practice and his family to Scripps Ranch. Dr. Friedman and his team will always offer the latest in state-of-the art dental technology and procedures, attending dental continuing education to stay abreast of the changing world of dentistry. Their focus on customer service goes way beyond the dental suites with massaging chairs, warm neck pillows, and Bose cancellation headsets available.Dr. Friedman and his team take the time to get to know each and every patient. Many patients have not been to the dentist in several years. Visiting with each of them and understanding their wants, needs, anxieties, and any possible hurdles helps Dr. Friedman and his team develop an ideal treatment plan for that particular patient.
Born and raised in San Diego, Dr. Friedman attended Serra High School and San Diego State University(Go Aztecs!). In 1989, he completed his lifelong dream of becoming a dentist at Washington University's School of Dental Medicine. He followed his degree with a one-year General Practice residency at the world-renowned Barnes Medical Center in St. Louis.
Dr. Friedman is currently involved in the accreditation program with the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. The AACD is the leading cosmetic dental association in the world and provides cutting-edge continuing education for dentists focused on cosmetic dentistry. Dr. Friedman is also involved in the American Academy of Functional Orthodontists and is an advocate of early orthodontic intervention to improve growth development.
Dr. Friedman and his wife, Jessica, have a very busy life outside of MOD Squad with five boys between them. Dr. Friedman is very involved in the Scripps Ranch Community where he is currently coaching both the Scripps Ranch High School roller hockey team as well as the roller hockey team for Marshall Middle School. Dr. Friedman is a member and supports the Scripps Ranch Parents - Teachers Association, the Scripps Ranch Civic Association, and continue to be active members of the Scripps Ranch Swim & Racquet Club. When the Friedman's are not in the office, you can usually find them camping in the desert riding dirt bikes, or challenging the ski slopes of Big Bear Mountain.
Cody Cohen, DDS is a Southern California native who obtained his undergraduate education from Westmont College. There he competed in collegiate soccer, while also graduating with Summa Cum Laude Honors in Cellular and Molecular Biology. He then received his dental education in Houstons world-renowned medical center at the University of Texas. Dr. Cohen is thrilled to be a member of our squad. His conservative and ethical approach to dentistry aligns with Dr. Friedman's, allowing patients to always receive superb customer service while maintaining the core values we hold dear. Dr. Cohen, wife Ellie, and their two children enjoy surfing, running, and hiking throughout San Diego.
With over 10 years in the dental field, Riley has been a true asset the moment she joined the squad in 2019. Her passion for taking care of others is evident when helping patients understand their dental treatment while maximizing the most of their insurance benefits. 'I could not be happier to have found a team as amazing as the one at Mod Squad. The best part of being a member is the compassion and care shown not only to the patients, but to the team as well,' shared Riley.
Jessica joined the Squad in 2009 to incorporate a different level of exceptional customer service to the practice. Jessica is originally from Louisiana, (Geaux Saints), and has accumulated over 15 years in the dental field in the many different aspects ofa practice; from software training, practice and team consulting, to management.
It was not until Jessica took a break from dentistry and opened, owned, and operated her ownwomen 's clothing boutique that she truly realized what exceptional customer service meant. I have been going to Mod Squad Dental for over 10 years. They have always been professional, competent and through. Today Tommi cleaned my teeth. She is the best, very gentle but through. She will even sing to you. I am an older adult but I imagine she would be great with kids.

Today I received my porcelain veneers and I am floored by how natural they look, how good they feel, and how beautiful they are! I have struggled with bite and cosmetic dental issues caused by a congenital missing tooth (#7). Despite over $10k in dental work with other specialists, I was struggling with a crooked smile and open bite. Two other dentists I approached for help in San Diego told me to be "happy with what I had." In contrast, Doctor Friedman listened carefully and took my case. He artistically used veneers to achieve the smile I've been dreaming of! My bite is closed (bring on the lettuce!), speech is clear, and I'm smiling from ear to ear. The entire ModSquad team is wonderful. I was lovingly cared for at every visit: such a treat to be pampered with warm blankets and massage chairs in the waiting room as a busy working mom. My heart is full of so much gratitude for my new smile and incredible experience with Doctor Friedman, Jess, and this first class team!

I'm still suffering from the work done. I went back three times for simple cavities fillings. My bite is still off, I have a sharp angle that cuts in to my tongue. Sloppy dental work and poor bed side manner.I won't be even mention what he said to me.

I have been a patient of Mod Squad Dental for over 20 years! I can not speak highly enough of Dr. Friedman and the rest of the Mod Squad staff. I am a true, long standing dental phobic but Mod Squad has eliminated any dental office fears with their comfortable and compassionate care, and I have referred Mod Squad ti many co-workers and family members who also will never go anywhere else now. 5-stars all the way!!

I have been seeing doctor Friedman and his staff at Mod Squad dental for over 10 years! I recommend them to anybody who is looking for a dentist.. The staff is always professional, they have state-of-the-art technology, they're so friendly and kind. I actually love going to the dentist, who can say that?, I've seen then from teeth cleaning, to invasalign, and teeth whitening! I can't say enough great things about Mod Squad dental!

Been going to Dr. Friedman for more than 20 years. We are long term patients because this dentist is top drawer. My husbands implants are stunning and I have had tons of teeth issues; all have been meticulously taken care of. My latest issue is painful TMJ. Well, we have a plan! So happy to have a dentist with solutions.

We LOVE MOD Squad Dental! Nearly my entire family is now a patient of theirs and everytime we meet someone who's looking for good dental care, we always reccomend them! Not only is the actual dental care top quality, but the staff is always amazingly warm and welcoming, not to mention organized and professional! I have never been someone who is easily comfortable at the dentist, and this caused me to put off finding one for a few years...but when my dad reccomended Dr. Friedman and his staff, I was immediately sold! They have made my dental experience comfortable and easy since day one!

I rarely do reviews, but Mod Squad Dental Deserves every Five star rating they have received , including mine! I originally went for a second opinion as I was very unsure about the plan I had in place, as the first half of the treatment had already taken twice as long as was told to me. I had some serious structural issues which had become more pronounced as I had gotten older. I had seen at least three or four different dentists over the years, so I had mismatched teeth, Old crowns and fillings , also a more than 100% overbite! I knew Dr Friedman was very good ,as some of my extended family members, had been going to him for a number of years. What made them stand out initially , was the way that they treated and truly cared for my 89-year-old mother, and more recently my daughter with Invisalign. I decided to make an appointment and it is the best decision I ever made!! My appointment with Dr Friedman was extremely informative, his expertise in his field made it so easy for me to understand what the problems were, and why there was really no choice for me but to have a Full Mouth reconstruction. I had zero doubt about the decision I made. From that moment to when I had the first major appointment I was fully supported and guided through the process by not just Dr Friedman, but by the whole team. The second appointment which followed two weeks later, I received the same outstanding care and follow up. I've been a healthcare professional For over 35 years and what Mod Squad Dental has achieved should merit them a "Center for Excellence"! Dr Friedman is a master in his field - an artist - with state-of-the-art equipment, actually in his office! Going above and beyond seems to be their normal and sets them apart from any other dental office I've ever been to. When I saw my teeth for the first time I got very emotional- I never dreamed that I could have a smile so beautiful and so natural. I will be forever grateful! Thank you Mod squad, I cannot sing your praises enough... Life changing

MOD Squad is hands down the best dentistry I've EVER been to. The staff is so friendly, and there are countless thoughtful touches--material and not. Everyone is always checking in on me and making sure I'm comfortable, and conversations feel very genuine. Also the interior is insanely pretty. Somehow these guys have made going to the dentist a fun an enjoyable part of my day :) PS I never ever write reviews so this is how good this place is

I have never been a fan of going to the dentist, frankly I despised it growing up. But going to Mod Squad dental is a whole different experience. My family and I have been patients of Dr Friedman for 23 years. He is a highly qualified dentist and at the same time, very personable and easy to talk to. His office has state of the art, cutting edge dental technology and I am sure that providing high quality care to his patients has always been his primary goal. Dr Friedman has always taken great care of my family and I could not bear the thought of going anywhere else for my dental esthetics and oral health.

I'm terrified of dentist. Or at least I was until Dr. Friedman! He's the Micheal Jordan of dentist! Seriously, he and his crew are outstanding! Super friendly, and very service oriented. Give the MOD Squad a go! Best decision ever!
