Graduating with honors in 1987, Dr. Michael Miyamoto earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree from the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery in Maryland. As a student there, Dr. Mike was selected for inclusion in Gamma Pi Delta Prosthodontic Honor Society where qualifications for this honor limited enrollment to the top 15% of the class. Admittance into the society requires a strong understanding of Prosthodontics and the dexterity and skill-set that shows excellence in this field.
The field of Prosthodontics is defined as aesthetic and reconstructive dentistry for rehabilitation and maintenance of oral function, comfort, appearance and health of patients with clinical conditions associated with missing or deficient teeth using crowns, bridges, implants, and full and partial dentures.
Dr. Mike has been practicing dentistry on Maui with his father Dr. Alan Miyamoto for 30 years. As part of his philosophy to deliver excellence in dentistry and patient care, he has continued to expand his skills and dental knowledge by completing more than 1400 hours of advanced continuing education training.
With a long emphasis on cosmetic dentistry, Dr. Mike has enhanced the natural beauty of many of his patients smiles using conservative, state-of-the-art procedures. He also does general and family dentistry, treats Temporomandibular Disorders (TMD) and the associated pain using conservative Gneuromuscular (GNM) modalities, and is dedicated to providing his patients with the highest quality of preventive and restorative care.
I left feeling secure & safe & taken care of. It's with great relief to find someone that understands my pain, what I'm going through. He made me feel like he will do everything in his hands to help me get better. I felt very cared for & as a part of a beautiful family.
I've been going to the Miyamoto's for many years and see no reason to ever leave. Staff is friendly, considerate and professional. They worked with my Orthodontist and created a beautiful smile for me. Even my Orthodontist was impressed with the work Mike did.
It's hard to imagine necessary dental work as being a pleasant experience. However the courteous,professional and caring staff at Miyamoto Dental Design come very close to accomplishing this.With all the up to date tech they handle all of my dental needs nicely,and if you have an emergency they will always be there for you.
Dr. Courtney Miyamoto graduated with honors from the University of Maryland, School of Dentistry in 2018 as a member and Treasurer of the Gamma Pi Delta Prosthodontic Honors Society. Admittance to the society requires excellence in the didactic and clinical aspects of Operative and Removable and Fixed Prosthodontics. Dr. Courtney also received the Nathan David Gold Memorial Award, a highly regarded school-wide honor. She was selected by classmates and faculty for her conscientious and enthusiastic dedication to the clinical practice of dentistry.
Dr. Courtney is welcoming new patients as a General Practice dentist alongsideher father, Michael Miyamoto, DDS 87, and in spirit, her grandfather Alan Miyamoto, DDS 62, at Miyamoto Dental Design Suite. She hopes to give back to the community by providing dental care for the underserved on Maui, neighboring islands, and abroad.

He has been my dentist since I moved to Wailuku. Last month he performed a complex TMJ treatment, I was so scared but he was able to ease my fears. He answered all of my questions. He is so patient and the whole staff is very friendly.highly recommend

I was pretty anxious about the dental work I needed and have been putting it off for a long time. I was embarrassed about having delayed it so long. Everyone in the office set me at ease. Dr. Mike is exceptional at explaining what needs to be done. He made sure I wasn't in pain, answered all of my questions and helped me choose the best treatment for me. I was referred to this Wailuku dental for TMD treatment. They are really friendly and easy to talk to. They get you in and out and are really passionate in what they do to make you feel better. They offer a variety of denatl services and treatments and always greet you with a smile.

The best dentist in all of Maui! The staff is kind and always welcoming. Also, Dr. Miyamoto helped to put me at ease and explained the whole procedure in detail. In the end, I was more than happy with how my teeth turned out!

I want to highly recommend Dr. Michael Miyamoto , along with his courteous and personable staff at his Wailuku, Maui Dental Office. Dr. Mike is very trustworthy, understanding, soft spoken, level headed, extremely good with the needle, and the best dentist I believe I have ever had in the past 50 years! He makes the time to have patience in explaining details more than once if need be. He made sure I understood my dental condition and the realistic options I have. He has been empathetic and understanding with my financial concerns, especially during the rough times we are all having economically during this pandemic. Give him a try. Dr Miyamoto and his staff were very friendly and professional. He really took the time to explain what was going on with my daughter's lockjaw. I would 110% recommend him. ( and they have coffee and hot cocoa in waiting room! )

"Due to an unexpected situation I wanted to see Dr. Mike on Friday. Friday his office is open half a day and he was willing to see me and fix the problem. It shows how he is willing to take care of his patients. I'm truly grateful to have a dentist like him and his staff is very pleasant."

Michael was very helpful and took the time to explain an ongoing problem with my tooth that two other dentists could not help with. He's very knowledgeable and went beyond just dentistry to explain how my sinuses and sleep disorder could be compounding the problem with my tooth. His staff is also very friendly and helpful.
