Dr. Mitra Hooshangi established her practice in 2004, and has since developed a distinguished reputation among her patients and colleagues in the Tysons Corner and northern Virginia area. Dr. Mitra Hooshangi graduated from VCU Medical College of Virginia as a Doctor of Dental Surgery in 1993. To stay ahead of modern techniques and advances in the dental field, she exceeds continuing education requirements and believes it is of the upmost importance. She is an active member of the American Dental Association, Virginia Dental Association, and the Northern Virginia Dental Society. Dr. Hooshangi has been chosen as one of Americas Top Dentists by the Consumers Research Council of America from 2005-2010.
At Mitra Hooshangi, DDS, LLC, we provide clear braces throughout the Vienna area. Straight teeth are important for your overall oral health. When teeth are crooked, they can become stained and infected more easily. By straightening teeth, we can improve your appearance and decrease the risk of getting cavities at the same time. We can also address issues that you may have with your jaw by aligning your bite. Clear braces are truly a comprehensive way and discreet way to address oral health concerns.
We understand that while many people want to have straighter teeth, many teens and adults are uncomfortable with the traditional metal braces on their teeth for more than one year. While they are not as discreet as people wish, metal braces are an effective tool for straightening teeth. The procedure works by placing a metal bracket onto the surface of each tooth and running a wire through those brackets. It is impossible not to notice when someone is wearing traditional metal braces. While the treatment works, it can also negatively impact a persons' appearance while doing so. This has led many people to seek out a better option, one that we provide.
At Mitra Hooshangi, DDS, LLC, we offer clear alternatives for adults and teens the greater Vienna area. We can straighten teeth and move them into the perfect position so the patient has a beautiful and radiant straight smile. If you have crooked teeth, unsightly gaps between your teeth or a misaligned bite, then we can help to correct these issues and more. Clear braces work just as effectively as metal braces but with some major improvements. Clear braces are much more difficult to notice, making them ideal for busy professionals, teens and those that do not want to negatively impact their current appearance during the process.
There are several types of clear and barely visible options to choose. One operates similarly to traditional metal braces where we place a bracket onto each tooth and thread a wire between the brackets. The difference is that instead of being made out of metal, the brackets for clear braces consists of a tooth-colored resin that blends in with the natural tooth. The wire is also tooth-colored so that the braces themselves are almost invisible and difficult to see. We find that this solution works well for teens and adults that are able to practice proper dental hygiene with the clear braces. Otherwise, food can stain the brackets. This solution is an excellent alternative to traditional braces and is just as effective at addressing all oral health concerns.
Clear braces also come in the form of aligners. Clear aligners look like a full retainer that surrounds the teeth and are worn on the upper and lower teeth. Aligners are more convenient to wear than metal braces since patients can remove them when necessary. One of the major concerns that people have with wearing braces is that they do not come off until the treatment is complete. If, for example, you get braces then decide to get married, you will either have braces in your wedding pictures or need to pay to remove them and reinstall them after. Simultaneously, if you have a big presentation at work and want to impress a client, your braces cannot come off for the meeting. This leaves many adults apprehensive about committing to a two-year treatment plan. We understand that appearance is important for more than vanity. My visit with Dr. Hooshangi was perfectly pleasant. I was greeted warmly upon arrival and met the doctor as I arrived. She took the time to go over all my concerns for the visit both as I arrived and when she was taking a look at my teeth. The place itself is very well-kept and the employees all took extra care to be safe and clean. I would highly recommend Dr. Hooshangi and her team for all of your dental needs!

Please do not consider this dentist. Very unprofessional and always frantic/running out of time-rushing appointments and compromising care because she has only one staff member. I missed an appointment due to an emergency and received a harsh text message from the dentist personally. I have a new dentist and the level of care is night and day. Also, I looked at my invoice saw I was charged for her PPE? I was never provided any. Seems odd. Overall I do not trust this place.

I have been Dr. Hooshangi's patient for the last 4 years and she has always been knowledgeable, professional and very friendly. She always try her best to make me feel comfortable during any Procedure that I have. She is jewel of a doctor and I strongly recommend her for anyone that is looking for a good dentist. I went to this dentist in 2019 to get braces. After I paid the initial deposit they called telling me they can't proceed any further unless I pay more even though I had a signed contract otherwise. I ended up canceling. My insurance sent me a letter today and said on 10/23/2020 I visited them and they charged $2,885.00 and my insurance sent them $407.81. This didn't happen. Don't trust this office!

Dr. Hooshangi may have been having an off day, because when I walked in both her and her support staff were frantic--to the point that I could hear the doctor yelling on the phone behind a closed office door. When she approached me (this being my third visit) she was unusually aggressive and demanded that I have a positive attitude about getting my teeth drilled. I was shocked and asked why, reminding her that I was simply exhausted and wanted complete the procedure. For some reason she found this response unacceptable insisting I be positive. I apologized that I wasn't going to be bubbly for this and just asked to be treated. She then pursued to insist that I might feel pain and offered numbing option. When I chose no, she was shocked and said my choice was unusual. While that might be so, I made a choice that she simply didn't like. She became dogged and stubborn that I should be both positive and receive the numbing by injection. She later offered a numbing gel which I accepted, including the agreement that if the superficial sealant became painful I would take a needle. At this point I thought the awkward interaction was over, but she continued to be displeased. I eventually had to ask her to stop nagging me informing her that she was scolding me like a child. Apparently, Dr. Hooshangi has forgotten she is in customer service and that regardless of her years in the industry that it is her role to comfort patience and create a safe environment. Needless to say I walked out without service. I will not be returning regardless of the previous two nice experiences. No one has the right to verbally abuse anyone, regardless of how bad their day is. If the circumstances are really that awful she should have rescheduled me instead of projecting her negative energy on me. Very disappointing.

I have been a patient of Dr. Hooshangi's for many years and she excels in her knowledge and talent as a dentist. Dr. Hooshangi has a cheerful comforting personality that always make going to her office a less stressful experience. She truly cares about the well being or her patients and puts their interest first, which is sometimes a difficult attribute to find in the health care industry. I have always found her willing to listen to my concerns and to explain what is going on thoroughly. Much to her credit and due to her skill as a dentist she was able to help give extra life to a tooth that others may have given up on. I can't thank her enough. In addition she has a lovely dental assistant that is a joy to work with as well.

Mitra is a great dentist, I took my mom to see her and she able to quickly identify the issue and treat her tooth and infection. My mom was very happy that the horrible pain she had was gone and didn't return. My mom said that Mitra is definitely one of the best dentist she had done work by. Mitra is very gentle and cares about her patients comfort. No rushed "in and out next please" treatment here like found in other dental offices I've been to. She spends time necessary with the patient to ensure that the job is done well.

She really cares about her patients by making sure you're informed every step of the way, through treatments. Compared to other dentist in this area her prices are fair. I was really happy with the services I received here, super friendly and timely. However, when I got my EOB in the mail, it looks like I was charged out of pocket for things they also billed the insurance company for. I called my insurance company to verify they did receive payment. I called Mitra, she said the secretary had credited my account with them, and I asked for a refund instead. She had no problem refunding my card, great customer service.
