The surgical microscope is an advancement used to allow visualization at up to 20x normal magnification. The use of the surgical microscope has enhanced our ability to locate previously unidentifiable root canals, identifyfractures, repair anomaliesin the tooth, and aid in the surgical aspects of endodontic therapy. We are excited by the ability to provide our patients with this state-of-the-arttechnique. The application of the surgical microscope in our office affords our patients the most advanced endodontic treatment available. We also have the ability to take photographs through the microscope so that we can better communicate findings with our referring dentists and patients.

In complex situations where diagnosis can be challenging or when conventional dental radiographs don't provide enough information, a CBCT scan can be helpful. This scan is essentially a three dimensional x-ray that allows us to see the problem area from multiple angles for better treatment planning. The scan is taken only of the area of interest and is very low radiation (about equivalent to 2-3 normal xrays).

Digital radiography (digital x-ray) is the latest technology used to take dental x-rays. This technique uses an electronic sensor (instead of x-ray film) that captures and stores the digital image on a computer. This image can be instantly viewed and enlarged and manipulated thereby helping theendodontist detect problems easier. Digital x-rays reduce radiation 80-90% compared to the already low exposure of traditional dental x-rays.

Dental x-rays are essential, preventative, diagnostic tools that provide valuable information not visible during a regular dental exam.Endodontist use this information to safely and accurately detect hidden dental abnormalities and complete an accurate treatment plan. Without x-rays, problem areas may go undetected.

We are all exposed to natural radiation in our environment. Digital x-rays produce a significantly lower level of radiation compared to traditional dental x-rays. Not only are digital x-rays better for the health and safety of the patient, they are faster and more comfortable to take, which reduces your time in the dental office. Also, since the digital image is captured electronically, there is no need to develop the x-rays, thus eliminating the disposal of harmful waste and chemicals into the environment.

Even though digital x-rays produce a low level of radiation and are considered very safe, dentists still take necessary precautions to limit the patients exposure to radiation. These precautions include only taking those x-rays that are necessary, and using lead apron shields to protect the body.

Apex locators are instruments that allow us to measure root lengths with great precision. Using these devices, we have increased confidence that we are removing diseased tissue and bacteria to the furthest extent within the root canal space to maximize favorable outcomes for our patients. The use of these devices also allow us to take fewer x-rays during treatment.

Dr. Stalder and Dr. Stewart use a variety of special equipment and tools that complement the high magnification and illumination the microscope provides. Examples are the use of small mirrors that allow us to see even the smallest details of your tooth at precise angels, ultrasonic instruments that gently brush away tooth structure and help remove various filling materials, small tipped burs that help us locate calcified and hidden canals deep within the roots, and flexible rotary files that shape and clean the root canals. The use of these instruments allow us to treat your condition in a conservative manner with maximum preservation of the natural tooth structure.

This is my second root canal, but my first at Mission Valley endodontics. While I'm still waiting for the numbing to wear off, I must say I was incredibly impressed by the doctor and the team. it's never fun getting a root canal but I tell you it most certainly is refreshing when you have someone and a team that knows what they're doing. Thank you again.

Like most people I was nervous as I was having a root canal - but they made the whole experience pleasant and pain free. As the Novocain wore off I had slight discomfort, nothing that couldn't be relieved with Advil.

This is Olga's husband, Tilden, who actually had a procedure. Dr. Stadler and his staff were more than helpful, courteous, and professional with this 86 year old patient during two visits. Dr. Stadler used his highly detailed x-rays to show me what was wrong and what he planned to do. He made me comfortable through a long procedure and showed me the results after treatment. I trust him completely and will return if I have a problem with another tooth.

I have had dental phobia...big time! I needed a root canal and postponed it for three years do to COVID and fear. Finally, the pain was too great and I had to face getting my root canal. My dentist, Dr. Rhoades, who is amazing, referred me to Dr. Stalder. Dr. Stalder is phenomenal. He is kind and patient. Prior to my procedure, he prescribed me something to take to calm me - this was tremendously helpful. When he was doing the procedure, he gently kept me informed of what he was doing. As a retired teacher, that also helped to keep me calm. Before I knew it, he had completed the procedure. I have had no after effect and am happily out of pain. Thank you Dr. Stalder and wonderful staff.

One need not worry about the past comment "I'd rather have a ___. ___. ___than a root canal." MV Endodontics is the most professional medical office I have ever visited. I have visited twice, both times for painless root canal procedures. Every person on staff gives the most considerate, passionate care I have ever experienced. And they do it painlessly. Ease your mind and your tooth pain and visit them immediately. You will not be sorry....Five stars in every category....

I recently had a root canal by Dr. Stadler. I found him impatient and self focused. I was not properly numbed by him and had excruciating pain. he attempted again and once again I was in tremendous pain. His remarks to me at that point were unacceptable. I expect better from a specialist. I will never go there again.

I had my root canal retreated today. I couldn't be happier with the entire process. Dr. Stalder, his assistant Pam and entire staff were extremely friendly and patient with me. I was traumatized by an experience I had with a doctor in La Jolla (who did my root canal originally) and after 3 years of issues with the tooth I made it to Dr. Stalder's chair in a high nervous state. I was shaking and nearly in tears. The entire procedure was a breeze. No pain at all! I was impressed with the high tech equipment, expertise and precision of Dr. Stalder. At the end, Dr. Stalder informed me that the previous dentist not only had performed the root canal improperly but also had left a piece of cotton ball inside my tooth. Unbelievable! I hope to not need to see Dr. Stalder again but if I ever need another root canal I will be seeing no one else but him!

I had my very first root canal last month with Dr. Stalder. I was pretty apprehensive, but he answered all my questions in detail during my consultation. For the procedure, he and his team were very professional, kind, and understanding when I had an unexpected anxiety attack. They offered solutions that helped me get through the procedure on a follow-up visit. They took great care of me and I've had zero issues with my tooth. I would highly recommend Dr. Stalder and his team if you're in need a root canal.

I had not been to a dentist in over 20 years and finally went in. I needed a root canal and was referred here and I am so happy that I went. Dr. Erik Stalder and his team took such great care of me! I was treated so well from the scheduling to the actual procedure. The dental assistant actually rubbed my arm and told me all was going to be ok while Dr. Stalder got me numb. He was extremely gentle and guided me through it and it was over in no time at all. I would not hesitate to go back here. If you are in need of a root canal-LOOK NO FURTHER!!!!!
