Mission Dental - General dentist in South Pasadena, CA

Dr. Spero loves being a dentist! He enjoys meeting new people every day and vows to make dentistry as pain-free and comfortable as possible. His patients all have unique needs some want routine work, others seek cosmetic dentistry, while others come to him in serious pain. When patients call me in pain, I will treat them as soon as possible even on holidays and Sunday mornings. As a dentist, work never stops, but Dr. Spero finds that work extremely rewarding. When a patient walks out of my office, I want them to feel happy again, pain free, and ready to show off their smiles.

Dr. Spero and Dr. Farrah Koutchek, own and operate three successful offices and are devoted to their patients. Patient comfort is the top priority for me, Dr. Spero explained. I make sure everyone is treated with respect and fully understands what treatment is needed. Dr. Spero has successfully completed full mouth restorations as well as dental implants. He practices conservative dentistry and utilizes advanced dental technologies.

Dr. Spero wasnt always a dentist. He grew up poor in Queens, New York. His father owned a dump truck, and his mother was a stay-at-home housewife. His father died when he was just a year old, and he lost his mother when he was in his teens. Despite family tragedy, Dr. Spero always knew he wanted to make something out of himself and have a rewarding life helping other people. Before he was a dentist, he worked many jobs, and was once even a broker on Wall Street. He put himself through college, bartending in the evening to make ends meet. I found my own way in life, my own way through dental school, and it has helped me become the person I am today. I want all my patients to feel safe and trusting of me theres nothing I enjoy more than helping a patient by giving them confidence and life-long smiles.

Dr. Spero believes his education didnt end with dental school; he continues to learn about the latest dental techniques and completes more than 50 hours of continuing education each year. He also enjoys being a member of the Academy of General Dentistry and the California Dental Association.

Mission Dental - General dentist in South Pasadena, CA

My emphasis is on patient comfort and keeping up-to-date with the latest techniques in dentistry. My artistic background enables me to provide my patients with quality care for the whole family and give them a beautiful smile and pleasant experience.

Dr. Koutchek has always had a passion for learning and was valedictorian during undergraduate school, graduating with a Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 1995. Shestarted practicing in California in 2001.Throughout her career she has completed countless hours of continuing education and constantly seeks new opportunities to enhance her abilities, knowledge, and techniques.

Her approach to treatment starts with listening carefully to the patient, completing a thorough examination, and using new state-of-the-art digital x rays (that admit 90% less radiation), enabling her to diagnose and prescribe the best treatment plan for you and your family. Dr. Koutchek has a wide range of experience in different aspects of dentistry, from cosmetic and restorative dentistry to root canals and oral surgery as well as Invisalign.

Dr. Koutchek compares dentistry to artistry: Im sculpting teeth with my hands, creating something beautiful and lasting. Fixing teeth changes lives, and theres nothing Dr. Koutchek finds more fulfilling than restoring a patients confidence. Ive had patients scared to smile, or patients who automatically put their hand in front of their mouth when smiling because they didnt want show their teeth. Once you help someones smile, Dr. Koutchek believes, the change is dramatic.

Artistry is what fuels Dr. Koutchek, both in the office and outside of the office. She enjoys oil painting, sewing & music, and approaches her work as a dentist the same way shed approach any art form: always staying calm and focused. Patients describe her as having a very serene presence. She is known to sometimes hum softly during dentistry work, and the sound has been compared to a mothers lullaby by patients instantly soothing even in the dentists chair.

I am super phobic! Dr. Spero and all his staff made the terrifying experience feel so easy and comfortable. I experienced no pain during my procedure. They are super friendly and very cheerful. I will continue all my dental treatment with Dr. Spero.

Dr. Koutchek is a phenomenal dentist! She not only demonstrates genuine care for my smile but always takes the time to ask about my family. I have a strong relationship with her and also all the staff who work here. There was one occasion when she had to change my appointment and she called me herself to apologize for the shift. Who does this nowadays? I feel blessed to have a dentist I trust! I recommend Mission Dental 10000%!

I went to see this dentist for the first time last week. I have been in quarantine and called ahead of time to make sure they were wearing masks and social distancing. The receptionist said they were. When I walked into the office they weren't wearing masks and put them on. Then the dentist walked in without a mask and wanted to shake my hand. I said no because of Covid 19. He wore a mask while examining my teeth and then took it off when he was sitting next to me. I felt unsafe the whole time I was there. I'm writing this in the hopes that this office will take the pandemic seriously and not put other patients at risk. The cleaning that was done by the dentist himself was also the worst cleaning I've ever had. I shortly got a sore throat after my visit from the stress and or being exposed to something in the office.

Front desk receptionist is really rude! Wow, what a way to turn a customer off to coming here. Also, it's confusing because some things refer to the name as "Pasadena Smiles", but the sign outside says "Mission Dental".... So, we didn't know if we were in the right place. Wish they could just keep the name consistent, or include both names in the front, when prospective patients are trying to find it! My appt was at 10 a.m., we arrived several minutes early, and it's now 10:40 a.m.... We are still waiting in the waiting room. Not good. Someone who arrived after me has already been taken in. Awesome. And--it gets worse. Even though we paid for a cleaning, they didn't even clean my husband's teeth AT ALL; you can still see the plaque on there! What a waste of my it money and 2 hours 10 min of our time! WORST place ever!!!! Now weave to go elsewhere for a cleaning! Avoid this place at all cost!!!

I had a terrible expereince with this dental office and they tried to scam me out of a lot of money. Id give them zero stars if possible. I went in because of a groupon deal, after 15 minutes of the most painful xrays Ive ever had, I was told I had to make an appiontment to get cavities fillled. Something made me feel uneasy so I tried to get a second opinion from my regular dentist. The week before my appiontment I asked if they could have my xrays sent to my dentist. The woman said "we will try". Then, fourty minutes before my appiontment she calls and says they wont be sending the xrays over and tells me Ill just have to pay for new ones at this other office. To top it all off, I got checked by my regular dentist and I didnt even have any cavities!!! This whole place is a joke and the receptionist was rude. Go elsewhere.
