I feel extremely fortunate to be in such a terrific profession, which allows me to create beautiful smiles that will light up a room. I really enjoy the social aspect, getting to know everyone and swapping stories, laughing, and getting to know new people all the time. Our office is a very happy place; everyone loves to be here and it really shows.

My life has been so enriched by the friendships of so many patients over the years. There is nothing better than running into an old patient when they show you their gorgeous smile. People often ask me when I'm going to retire. Why would I want to retire? I'm having too much fun!

I am a native of Los Angeles and now live in Santa Monica with my husband of more than 25 years and our cats, Max and BeBe. In my free time, I enjoy traveling and hiking, and I have always been a bit of a car nut.

My undergraduate degree was in art, though I changed into orthodontics later because I really liked the idea of working in a profession that combined art and science. I love making a smile look as beautiful as possible. Having an artistic eye allows me to really see my patients smiles as a whole so they not only function well, but also look as good as possible.

In order to provide my patients with the best care possible, I take regular continuing education courses to keep up with latest technology and innovations. I also lecture to local study clubs and hygiene groups about Invisalign. I was one of the first 26 doctors in the country to beta test Invisalign before it was released to the general public. I have vast experience because I was using it before anyone else!

I was on the faculty of the UCLA School of Dentistry for over 25 years and just recently retired.It was a pleasure to work with the residents and teach them to be the best they can be. My years of teaching required me to stay current in advancements in technology for the benefit of my students, and is something I continue to do to benefit my patients as well.

I've been very involved in the orthodontic and dental communities for years. I was the president of our local dental society, past president of the Los Angeles Association of Women Dentists, and am very active in the California Association of Orthodontics. I've participated a lot in organized dentistry because I believe its important to give back to my profession.

I am extremely excited to join Dr. Nuckles and the entire team to help make beautiful smiles!One of my favorite parts about being an orthodontist is getting to know all of my patients and their families, and being there for them throughout their orthodontic care.I am very dedicated to my patients and to the practice of orthodontics as a whole.Being an orthodontist allows me to combine my passions of the arts and sciences while also fulfilling my desire to help people.

Born and raised in Los Angeles, I attended the University of California, Los Angeles for my undergraduate education where I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychobiology with Honors. Upon completion of my undergraduate studies, I attended the UCLA School of Dentistry and graduated with a Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree. I then moved to Colorado to attend the University of Colorado, Denver for my Orthodontic residency where I also received my Master of Science in Dentistry degree. During my orthodontic training, I obtained an advanced certification in Invisalign treatment and attended numerous lectures on orthodontic mini-screw implants, along with completing an extensive research project on digital modeling for orthodontic treatment plans.

In addition to my formal education, I attend orthodontic and dental conferences annually, and take continuing education courses to further my knowledge of the orthodontic profession. I feel that it is of the utmost importance to keep up to date on the innovative practices and technologies in the dental and orthodontic fields. I am also an active member of numerous dental and orthodontic organizations.

I enjoy enhancing my orthodontic knowledge by studying the most advanced and proven techniques the orthodontic profession has to offer. As a result, I am able to provide my patients with the best care in a compassionate manner.

I love listening to music, painting, reading, and spending time with my family and friends. As natives of Los Angeles, my husband and I enjoy trying new restaurants, watching sporting events and movies, and joking about our crosstown college rivalry (Go Bruins!). More recently with our young son, we have been exploring everything kid-friendly that LA has to offer.

Our orthodontic team is highly trained and dedicated to providing excellent orthodontic treatment. We have more than 80 years of combined experience. Each of our orthodontic professionals is routinely updated in special courses to serve you in the latest techniques in all phases of treatment.

In our office, orthodontic treatment is more than straight teeth. We combine the goals and concerns that each patient brings to us with our objective of treatment excellence. We want orthodontic treatment to be a positive experience for everyone concerned.

We enjoy getting to know each patient and their families, and love creating relationships that last multiple generations.

We believe in providing optimal treatment results, but recognize that the experience of orthodontic treatment is crucial, too. Thats why we customize treatment plans for each individual and each family's goals and expectations.

We are especially attentive to everyone's individual needs, and do our best to be helpful with insurance, flexible scheduling, flexible payment options, and any special needs that our families and patients have.

Rudest, most entitled, and condescending receptionist. This is my third visit and every single time I am in a bad mood as her negative personality continually ruins my visit. The doctor makes up for it as she is amazing, but I am seriously considering moving dental offices.

My kid get her teeth fixed there. She has a difficult problem, but Dr. Van Allen came up a plan we like without more invasive procedures. Located at the busy intersection between Wilshire and Westwood Blvd, it is conveniently located. Parking is expensive at the bottom the the building, if you don't mind a little walking, park in the Westwood park and walk for 5 minutes.

I had successful orthodontic procedure done by Dr, Nuckles a couple of years ago and am extremely happy with the personal attention I received and the results. Went to the offie yesterday for a concern I had and Dr. Van Allen saw me right away without an appointment and answered my questions. Good results and friendly staff. If you need an orthodontist, Dr. Nuckles is a great choice.

I can't say enough wonderful things about Dr. Nuckles and her entire practice. From the moment we walked in, to a printed sign greeting my son by name, it was a completely different experience than other orthodontists. My son had been crying and afraid at another practice, and when we left here he actually said, unprompted, "I love Dr. Nuckles!" after just meeting her. She is experienced, knowledgeable, well connected with dentists and oral surgeons on the West Side, and radiates positive energy and kindness.

Lovely people, great care, great dedication Dr. Nuckles is a marvel. Couldn't be more happy with my decision to get Invisilign. I'm not a young kid but wanted to correct my crooked bottom teeth and now that I am into the process, I'm so glad I plunged into it. Feel completely comfortable and confident with Dr. Nuckles' team.

I am in the process of invisalign treatments with Dr. Nuckles. Before I began I had a consult with another orthodontist to compare. Dr. Nuckles's equipment and procedure plans consist of the most amazing, up to date technology. I highly recommend coming to her. And she is always so cheerful and nice.

I love this office and everyone in it. I'm a middle aged, professional man. I was not looking forward to this experience when I started this process. However, Dr Nuckles and her staff have been beyond accommodating and the results are incredible. I have already referred two other professionals who were interested in a better smile...and their experience matches mine. I don't think I would have been able to see this process through were it not for the support and the understanding I have received from Dr Nuckles and her staff. They are the nicest, most helpful people ever and I am glad my dentist referred me to them. You won't be disappointed.
