Dr. Marco Navarro is the lead orthodontist, CEO, and founder of Mint Orthodontics and Orashape. For over 20 years, Dr. Navarro has provided top quality, affordable orthodontic care to patients throughout Texas and Mexico, but he does far more than just straightening teeth. His compassion for his patients and dedication to the communities he serves are changing lives one person and one smile at a time.
Dr. Navarros passion for orthodontics and community service began with his father, a dentist whose commitment to his patients would serve as a model for his sons own philosophy and approach to orthodontic care.
My dads a dentist and to me, just seeing the way he helped people [and] the impact he had in the community, I always wanted to be a dentist. And I think my brothers and sisters also saw it too because we were eight kids and seven out of eight of us became dentists, Dr. Navarro explains, adding:
It was a passion that I just enjoyed so much. And it just became a way of life in our home. I saw my dad having [such] fulfillment and being happy about what he was doing. The same thing for my older brothers.
At just 16 years old, Dr. Navarro went to work with his eldest brother, who by that time had become an orthodontist. As he worked alongside his brother in the lab, and later as an orthodontic assistant, Dr. Navarro continued to be inspired by his fathers dedication to his patients.
I remember my dad was always taking care of his patients, sometimes even going in at midnight to [treat them]. There was a real personal connection. [] He was always very involved in the community and [believed in] giving back and helping out. He never let anybody go untreated or without changing their lives in a way that would help them.
His fathers legacy of serving and helping others is deeply ingrained in Dr. Navarro and why he is so passionate about orthodontics and how it enables him to help the people in the communities he serves.
As an orthodontist, Dr. Navarro loves being able to create beautiful smiles for his patients, but his real passions are changing his patients quality of life and giving back to the community both of which are cornerstones of what makes Mint Orthodontics so unique.
I always enjoy creating beautiful smiles, and thats a passion for me. Its a big [part of] what I like doing with my patients. [Were] changing their quality of life and giving back to the community. We see patients from all socio-economic status, we see patients from Medicaid, especially the ones with cleft lip and palate and facial deformities, he says.
Having a dental degree or an orthodontic degree doesnt mean just doing the simple, easy stuff like fixing crooked teeth. [It also means] taking care of the very complex cases. Dr. Navarro insists, adding that at these practices that I go to, we [usually treat] very complex cases, the cases that sometimes nobody wants to see. We take care of them. And that makes us very unique.
Im the only one seeing them south of Houston. We have patients coming in from Corpus Christi, Amarillo we have people traveling from all over the state [of Texas] because [they know] well take care of them. I enjoy so much seeing the transformation of these patients. The way [their lives change], going from not wanting to leave their homes to [having so much more] confidence. Its just something that fulfills your heart in a way that is so different from anything else.

My son has only had his braces for about 3 months and the difference is noticeable. The process has been very smooth. However, the waiting time could be extremely long, I have had to wait an hour after his schedule time to be seen. If you're someone that is in a tight schedule, give yourself at least a two hour grace period for the appointment. Im updating my review because of John! His customer service is amazing!!

Great Service!!! They treat you amazing, the place is really clean, and now that we are in the pandemic season they're taking the best precarious procedures to keep their patients safe. Personally comparing the treatments from Mexico and Mint Orthodontist (here in Brownsville Tx) I can conclude that it is way better and you advance faster. I 100% recommend Mint Orthodontist. They are absolutely the BEST in Brownsville Tx!!!

There is no signs on the building. It is very hard to find. The only sign that said mint orthodontics was a small one on the bottom of the advertisement for the name of the plaza. Then they told me there was no bathroom available. I don't see how a doctors office doesn't have an available bathroom. Yes I understand we're living in a time of Covid. But they could be like every other doctors office and clean it frequently. Or leave a disinfectant spray in there for people to use. To make it worse the appointment was at 3 o'clock. We showed up 10 minutes before three. We weren't allowed to come in until they called us on the phone to tell us if they were ready due to limited amount of people available inside the building because of Covid. We didn't get called to go in until 3:20. When we went in I asked if they had a bathroom they said no. At 3:30 I asked how much longer it would be because I had to go to the bathroom. The girl told me it shouldn't be much longer. At 3:45 I was beyond irritated and asked if they could see him soon because our appointment was at three I had to go to the bathroom. The girl tells me do you want to leave and come back. I told her no I want him to be seen so I can leave the appointment was at three. After my outburst within five minutes he was being seen. If they aren't going to have a public bathroom available for people to use. They should at least try and stick to the appointment times. When I had to pay the down payment of $1500 I didn't make excuses. I paid all I'm asking is to get the same courtesy that they expect of their customers. The least they could do is allow paying customers to use the bathroom. I have never been to a drs office that doesn't allow customers access to the bathroom. The other odd thing was no signs saying it was mint orthodontics besides the one small white sign with light green words. I don't know how they expect anyone to safely drive and look for their building. I originally started services and my dentist office. If I wouldn't have already paid the down payment to start the services I would be going somewhere else. The visit to this office feels like a dollar store visit at Dillards prices.

I love this place , their staff is very friendly, ayla was really nice they guy taking X-rays was the sweetest boy ever and assistant that explained the treatment for my child was amazing she explain with detail , then when it came to prices Jessica was really helpful because I wasn't sure if I was going to get the treatment but she even shared her personal experience with braces and Dr. Navarro. I can't wait to meet Dr. Navarro thank you mint orthodontics for this experience!

Horrible. Dr. Navarro, I hope you read this message. Your administration office is very unprofessional. I changed my insurance because the lady told me that only DentalQuest was accepted by you. In January of this year, I was approved and took my son. Ms. Gamez saw him and said that he really need the braces but I was going to receive a call in 10 days. I never did. I called in February, and another lady told me that Dr. Navarro has not seen the report. The following week called and spoke with Jessica .2/26. She told me she was going to call me and she never did. I called today 3/16/21, and Jessica apologized and told me that my son was not approved. All this time just to tell me that. Then she passed me with the assistant of Ms. Gamez and she apologized. I thought I was calling the Apology Dentists. They do not work hard enough or maybe you do not want new patients. Because I called the dentist and referred me with another doctor and they just called me that I was approved. I spoke with my dentist to avoid send referrals to MINT, it is a waist of time.

I'm always nervous when it comes to dentist office, but the staff made it extremely comfortable. I was checked in fast, my X-rays, 3D scans, and pictures didn't take long either. First appointment for quoting is free and list of what needs to be done after visit.
