Dr. Richard Duong grew up in sunny southern California where he spent much of his childhood nurturing his imagination by reading classic childrens books and fairytales.While studying to attain his Bachelors of Science degree in Biology at the University of California, Irvine, Dr. Duong worked part-time at Disneyland where many of the stories he had read as a child are brought to life.These early experiences would later have a profound inspiration on the creation of Milpitas Childrens Dentistry.Dr. Duong went on to pursue a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at the UCLA School of Dentistry where he discovered that pediatric dentistry would provide him with the opportunity to relive the happiest moments of his childhood through connecting with pediatric patients.He was inspired to become a pediatric dentist and decided to continue his training at Jacobi Medical Center in New York City where he completed his pediatric dentistry residency in 2011. He then continued to advance his specialization by obtaining the recognition of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry as a board-certified pediatric dentist in 2015.
Dr. Duong is passionate about being a pediatric dentist and loves entertaining children.Interacting with his patients is his favorite part of the job as he is a child at heart with a very vivid imagination. He strives to make every dental visit an enjoyable and pleasant experience for his pediatric patients by drawing upon his love of childrens stories and fairytales.Dr. Duong is committed to providing the best possible patient care and endeavors to provide an exceptional experience for children and adolescents that is as entertaining as it is educational.
When Dr. Duong is not providing care for his patients in Milpitas, he loves to travel the world with his wife and son, especially to areas of Europe where many of the fairy tale stories he loves originated. He continues to enjoy his hobby of reading classic childrens books and fairytales with his son to this day.

My son loved it here! He was so excited as soon as he walked through the doors! Staff is super friendly and very welcoming! They were so gentle with him. His dentist was very kind and he answered all of my questions and concerns. Love this place!! My son is excited to come back for his next visit! I highly recommend this place!!

Great place for kids ; friendly service from the dentist and Staff. my daughter was super scared of the dentist before but now she knows the drill and is happy to go get her cavities filled. Prices are fair as I had to shop around to figure that out, the doctor was very flexible with the timing and he will inform you of what is required and optional and work around your annual premiums. location is convenient near home.

Dr. Richard made both of my children (15 months old and 3 year old) feel at ease when they came in for both of their appointments. The first time both children didn't know what to expect so they were uneasy being in the chair. Dr. Duong was very patient and understanding. He changed up how he was going to do that check up. The second visit, both kids sat down in the chair and watched the tv above. Dental office is very kid friendly and the kids liked to pick a prize at the end of the visit.

My words cannot express how amazing Milpitas Children's Dentistry is. My child needed major work done and I was worried about my child and the experience they were going to have. The Doctor and the staff were so caring and compassionate with my child. The level of care is above and beyond anything you have ever seen. I wish I had a Dentist like this as a child myself...... I would be happy and smiling every time I had to go to the dentist like all the young patients do at this office. Thank you doctor and staff for your amazing work

My son loves visiting Milpitas Children's Dentistry. The entire staff is friendly and professional. My insurance plan is explained on site, and I don't have to worry about surprise bills. The office is clean and engaging for my son. He also loves the Toy Castle.

This is the most kid-friendly dentist office I've ever been to. The staff were so nice and made my son feel at ease. He was so excited to have had a good trip to the dentist, I know he'll be excited to return for follow-ups.

We had a great visit today. Very friendly Dentist Dr. Richard and office staff. Took great care. My daughter was scared going in for her first dental visit. As soon she entered the whole atmosphere in the office, changed her perception it was totally kid friendly and the decorative design made her feel ease. She was off exploring the area. Dr. Richard made sure she was comfortable and at ease. She kept watching Frozen playing in TV screen in the ceiling she went into a trance. We swiftly got the screening and cleaning done. Explained well in a way my daughter could understand and with pictures. On our way out she got her princess bracelet and asked " Can we come here everyday?". My daughter and I were totally impressed. You could give it a try. I recommend it.

I'm so glad to have found Dr. Richard's practice. Our (very anxious) 4 year old needed a root canal. Dr. Richard spent 45 minutes with us at the initial exam, explaining why a root canal was needed, how it would be done and explaining the process of using a medical anesthesiologist (Dr. Targ) vs. using a dental anesthesiologist (no intubation). He answered all my questions and put my mind at ease. He called the day before the root canal, to go through what would happen again and followed up with us the evening after the root canal was done. He's got great bedside manners and didn't push my 4 year old for the first exam (the poor kid was too anxious and initially refused to even walk into the office); instead, Dr. Richard just recommended we walk my son around the office to get familiarized with the beautiful exam rooms and let my son collect a prize. I'm so impressed by Dr. Richard and his office and highly recommend him to any friends who are looking for a pediatric dentist!

Friendly staff. The dentist was able to reschedule my son for an earlier appointment, which was very appreciated. Dr Richard was so patient to explain exact what needs to be done on my son's teeth. He only recommends the necessary procedures without overdoing the dental work. My son had some teeth extractions done by Dr Richard and the procedure went smoothly without him feeling any pain. Highly recommend.

We have been to about 5 dentists in the past month (long story), some very established and expensive and Dr. Richard is our favorite. He takes his time to explain everything and does not push you into anything but really looks out for the best interest of your child. We ended up not getting treatment with him because he is not yet set up for the type of treatment that my daughter needs. The part that is outstanding is, we were all set to do a different treatment with his office, we had not yet paid a dime even though we had probably spent about 2 hours talking and consulting with him, and at the end of the day, he recommended us to go with the other treatment bc that's what he "would do as a parent." Being able to trust your dental provider is so important. After all this is over we will be transferring back to Dr. Richard for routine care!

Thank you for being extremely kind, knowledgeable, and supportive. Dr. Richard was able to guide and provide us with treatment options all in just one visit without having seen us previously. I am very delighted with the care we received. He truly gives the quality work and time that one deserves- - Amazed, delighted and very grateful! Dr Richard has one of the best dental clinics we've ever seen . It will help you revisit your childhood memories with characters like Alice in Wonderland, Jungle book and more which also helps to distract the kid from the usual dental anxiety & dental phobia momentarily :) They also have a very prompt, nice and helpful front desk! For a 6 yr old who was very anxious and nervous about going to the dentist for the 1st time, now he can't wait for his next appointment, says a lot. When we first arrived into the office, the decors of office was very welcoming as if we entered a kids storybook /Disneyland. We were greeted by Dr. Duong and his staff. Filled out some paperwork, signed "consent of treatment" and was asked if we had any questions or concerns. Once we were in the exam room, Dr.Duong and his assistant were very calm and professional especially while taking the X-rays. They explained every step/equipment/reviewed the X-ray to my son (and myself) and whenever possible let him feel/hold the equipments used. They let him participate in his care by holding the suction. Once done, my son got to pick a prize from the prize tower, not just 1 but 2! ( I guess because he had no cavities .) Overall: was very impressed by their Knowledge, and professionalism. Staff were friendly and courteous. Great customer service! Only issue I found, was the initiation paperwork online, which needed to be filled out prior to the first appointment. I felt there was so many repetitions online and when we came in, a similar form was given other than the Consent for treatment (which I know is required with every visit). As I'm writing this review, I realized that after I completed the paperwork online, I don't think there was an option to review/save a pdf file. Maybe at the first appt, a quick review of the forms that was filled out online be presented just in case there are corrections to be made. COVID-19 safety: When appt is made, a 1hr is blocked for your visit, so no other patients are present in the waiting room. Covid-19 questionnaire is sent to your smartphone to be completed at arrival and a Temperature check on child and parent/guardian. Hand gels are provided. Auxiliary Staff are masked, MD and assistant are masked and face shields are worn.

Today was our daughter's first visit (13 month old) to the dentist. We were a bit nervous but Dr Richard and staff made this experience so nice for her and it was great to be greeted by him as soon as we walked in. We are huge disney fans and the entire office had that feeling.. The magic of the rooms helped tremendously and we recommend going to see them for your kids!

Very smooth process to schedule first appointment. I really appreciated the online tools to cut down on the time spent filing out paperwork on my son's first visit. Text message reminders of my upcoming appointment were a plus. Staff was friendly, and welcoming. The process was seamless. My son loved the attention; I will be bringing my younger son next.

My teenager son had a bad experience with his previous dentist. We came here and he was very happy . Dr Richard was listening to our needs, very professional. He made my son comfortable. He explained to me every thing he was doing. The bill was explained to me too. He even called in the evening to know how my son was doing. I felt safe about Covid too. No other patient at the same time. My daughter will go with Dr Richard for her next visit too. If your child is anxious about going to the dentist, go to Milpitas children's dentistry.

Best experience ever! Dr. Richard and his office staff are just delightful. The office is so beautiful with tons of wall animations which gives children a sense of tranquility. My three children felt so comfortable. We all loved Dr Richards positive, respectful and friendly vibe. My kids came out after the visit saying they had an amazing time. Dr. Richard will be my childrens dentist moving forward. I wish I had found this office years ago.

We visited Milpitas Children's Dentistry as my daughter has cavity, and it was a great experience. Dr. Richard, and all the staffs were very knowledgeable and showed compassion. This is a new pediatric dental clinic and exactly the decoration / atmosphere is super kids friendly. Highly recommended if you have little one who needs dental care.
