Dr. Daniel Millikan was born in Bloomington, Indiana and is the youngest of seven children. He attended Bloomington High School South as a child and went on to attend Indiana University to pursue his Dental career. Dr. Millikan holds a bachelors and masters degree in Biology and Chemistry. He also received his doctorate in dentistry from Indiana University and lives here in Bloomington with his wife and two children.
Dr. Millikan has undergone extensive post-graduate training in the areas of cosmetic dentistry, endodontics, implants and sedation dentistry. He has completed advanced training in full-arch implant placement in conjunction with full-arch prosthodontics. Dr. Millikan believes in providing the best dentistry for his patients in a caring manner. He has over 15 years of clinical experience in dentistry and has treated thousands of patients in our community. Dr. Millikans goal is to help patients keep their teeth and beautiful smile their entire lives. With technological advances in dentistry, keeping that smile for a lifetime is possible for anyone (regardless of their current situation).
Dr. Millikan is very active in the community and is involved with multiple local charity groups. He enjoys watching local sports teams, outdoor activities and is an avid golfer. Dr. Millikan is a proud sponsor of the Little League Diamond in Smithsville, which is pictured above. Dr. Millikan loves and respects our Bloomington community and the environment. Ive been a patient of Dr. Millikans practice since I relocated back to Indiana in 2011. I cant say enough nice things about Dr. Millikan & his staffs dedicated service and personalized care in regards to my crooked teeth,crossbite and decay. Theyve given me implants,root canals,fillings and crowns,and have never hurt me in the process. Hands down,this is the most gifted & sincere dentist youll ever have the pleasure to work with! A Lot better then the olden days. So if you don't like going to the dentist I recommend you try Dr. Millikan. In Bloomington in .i am not as afraid as I use to be.

I would NEVER recommend Millikan Smiles to anyone. During my Invisalign treatment I was traded between 3 different dentists, though I continued to ask to be seen by Dr. Millikan the original dentist who started me on Invisalign. Each dentist told me something totally different about treatment. The last dentist, Dr. Caldwelll, even told me that I never needed Invisalign to begin with and should have just gotten veneers from the beginning (which would cost another $5,000). This was after two years of Invisalign treatment. When we moved states we asked to have our Invisalign transferred to a new dentist to finish treatment and Dr. Caldwell refused. They had me pay a flat fee upfront for treatment, and it was supposed to include two retainers and a Zoom whitening treatment, which they refused to reimburse. I'd also skip them for regular cleanings. I went to one cleaning where I didn't even see a dentist, just the hygenist. They charged me the same though.

I was nervous and scared, but all that ended when I met the staff and the Doctor, I have never felt so reassured and at ease with a Dentist as I do now, they are patient, kind and gentle

Great service in all aspects from the reception staff all the way up to Dr. Millikan himself. Highly recommend this place and I am a wimp when it comes to pain and they do an outstanding job of being extra careful with my sensitivity. Also, I do not even feel my numbing injections since Dr Millikan does such a great job with how he uses a "wiggle the gum" technique, while administering the injection.

Dr.Millikan is hands down the best dentist. He cares for his patients and that shows through his time taken with you and making sure you are comfortable and understand the procedure through the whole process.

Extremely competent and courteous health care professionals. All procedures are explain thoroughly in advance. First-rate resources on site as well. But going to dentists for over 60 years, and they are as good as it gets!

Waste of money and time.. Beware of them recommending procedures not needed to get more money. Went here for a 2nd opinion on a crown that was hurting and had no pain before the crown was replaced. It was an existing old crown and needed redone and my primary dentist had issues doing the crown, it was done wrong. I get to the millikan office visit and they check the inclusion and say it looks okay and they don't recommend anything so the tech goes to check with the dentist because I say I have pain. She comes back and tells me dentist says I need a root canal (they looked at my tooth for 30 seconds and the dentist NEVER looked at it) I disagree with a root canal as I've had several and know this is not the case with this tooth, dental assistant goes back and forth several times and the dentist finally comes to speak with me. I ask her why I need a root canal versus just the crown being replaced then explain the whole story of trouble they had re-doing the crown and she says with symptoms of pain it needs a root canal. I tell her the same symptoms are also those of a faulty crown. After much back and forth disagreements, She finally states that symptoms could be either a bad crown or a root canal. she always recommends a root canal just to be sure before they put a new crown on (what). She then charges me $50 for a special x-ray to confirm that I DONT need a root canal (I knew I didnt). The entire time she is talking to me she keeps saying, are you going to switch offices to become a patient so I can do a treatment plan for you, she said it like 5 times while arguing I needed a root canal before the xray. I finally told her to stop asking me or I would not be a regular patient and the rest of the visit would determine my future dentist plans. She was rude through the whole visit. When I came in, I smiled at her in the hallway while walking back and she didn't smile back while making direct eye contact, so she's not friendly either. She looked unhappy and grumpy the whole time by her facial expressions and voice tone. $75 for a visit, $50 for an xray i didnt need, and still NO results. They were the 2nd opinion dentist who tells my insurance company the diagnosis of the 1 tooth I went in for. My insurance company denied my crown being Re-done because this office uploaded a future TREATMENT PLAN that the dentist kept talking about and NO information on the crown. What a waste of a 2nd opinion and my $125. I do not recommend this dentist office to anyone ever. They couldn't do a simple second opinion visit so I would never trust them with the treatment plan they made up. Patients beware!

Never fun to go to the dentist, but walking into a clean modern office and being greeted by a warm, welcoming smile is a great start. Staff are courteous, friendly and professional; all my questions answered by the hygienist, the Doc, and front desk/financial staff. Solid plan over the next several weeks to catch me up on long neglected dental health.
