I grew up in Richardson, graduating from JJ Pearce HS in 1980 (wow, thats starting to sound like a long time ago!). Id already decided I was going to pursue a dental career by Jr High. My thought process was, Im good at biological sciences AND I like to work with my hands. Years of model-making had engendered in me a love of fine tool-work. Seeing a dentist at a career day at North Jr High pretty much put it all together.
I graduated from Texas A&M University (gigem) in 1984 with a Bachelors in Biology. Took a year off to earn some money, then enrolled at Baylor College of Dentistry in 1985, graduating (on time, thank God) in 1989.
I practiced in Plano for 16 years at Parker and Alma. We decided to build a more modern office configured with current dental thinking in mind in 2007, thus the move to Allen. Weve been here since April of 2007 and love it!
If you expect to see hunting trophies from around the world adorning your dentists office our office may not be your first choice. Sports memorabilia, marble columns and unctuous staff are also notably missing. What you will see is an attractively designed office with comfortable chairs and a separate kids nook. My office is not a monument to myself. Its a beautiful, efficient fun office and I love to do dentistry there.
We want to know what you want and expect from us. In fact, my patients often ask me why I havent mentioned certain esthetic issues that they themselves have noticed. To this I reply that I dont want to make them self-conscious if they are satisfied with their smiles. I will never attempt to sell dental work by means of belittling a patient or playing on his insecurities. Now, if you want a complete smile makeover thats great. But youll never get the hard sell. I cant stand being on the receiving end of that and I wont do it to others. I prefer a conservative approach to dentistry. My goal is to keep my patients in great dental health with minimal intervention. So much of it is up to you, the patient, that I occasionally get frustrated. I love car analogies and heres one to illustrate the last point: I am like a mechanic and the patient has the car I am working on. Some clients take meticulous care of their vehicles, some do not. The client who never changes his cars oil, never gets new tires and jerks his car around with abandon is going to have a piece of junk for a car eventually. Unfortunately for my patients its way easier to trade out cars than it is to trade out teeth.
