As a child I had pretty bad teeth. I can remember eating sandwiches and never being able to bite through the lettuce. I was so impressed when I met my orthodontist. She was a coach, an artist, a businesswoman, and a skilled dental professional. Her team was upbeat and positive and the results for my smile were amazing.
It took me over 10 years of schooling to realize my goal of becoming an orthodontist. Thousands of patients and years later I am still passionate about what we do. Sometimes my team at Miller Orthodontic Specialists chuckles when I start explaining to a patient how teeth move. They see my eyes light up and know that at the end of the day I am still a tooth nerd.
However, even better than the science of orthodontics is the relationships we forge with our patients. I love meeting new people every day and helping them on their way to their best smile. I tell our patients that orthodontics is not something we do to you; it is something we do with you. There is nothing better than watching someones confidence and self esteem increase as we create a beautiful smile that will last a lifetime. My dream team and I look forward to meeting you!
Dr. Lance Miller was born in Canada and spent his early childhood in Australia, eventually moving to Chapel Hill,North Carolina, where his father was a professor. He spent a year of high school in Germany and later lived for two years in the Netherlands and Belgium on a service and proselytizing mission. He graduated with a B.S. in Neuroscience from Brigham Young University.
Dr. Miller attended dental school at the University of North Carolina where he was involved with numerous community service and dental research projects. He completed a residency at Saint LouisUniversity, graduating with a M.S. degree and specialty certificate in Orthodontics.
Dr. Miller is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists and the American Dental Association. He is married with two children and his hobbies include spending timewith his family, playing the piano, skiing, golfing, and watching UNC and BYU athletics.

We utilize the latest in treatment options to make your treatment more effective, comfortable and convenient. Sometimes these technologies are behind the scenes in areas such as sterilization, computer systems, sharing patient records with your general dentist, and more convenient patient scheduling and reminders. Other times the latest methods are being used right in front of our patients, like ProSeal that helps protect your teeth, new wires that are gentler, innovative appliances like the Herbst and Forsus, clear ceramic braces and Invisalign.
We take time to get to know every patient and their family personally. In addition, we know that orthodontics is not a one-size fits all endeavor. We carefully diagnose each case in order to find the treatment plan that will give you the best smile.

My daughter started her journey with Dr. Miller in May of 2019. She had to do some adjustments before we could start the actual process. Rosemary was very understanding and explained the whole process to her and I, and the whys for every step. She kept scheduling appointments to make sure that my daughter was doing what she needed to, before the process started. Finally, January of 2020, we got the braces put on. At the height of Covid and the shutdowns, and the restrictions of what we needed to do to complete this process, Dr. Miller's team worked with us every step of the way. They worked with us with scheduling appointments and rescheduling appointments and what we needed to do when she got there. They were amazing with communicating with me on what the next process was. Today, she got her braces removed. Her teeth and smile look absolutely amazing and I am blown away at the work they put in to make this happen. It wasn't always easy for my daughter when she had her wires changed, and adjusting to what foods she could or couldn't eat, but we did it. Not just her and I, but the amazing team of professionals at Miller Orthodontics. I will be forever grateful for what they were able to accomplish for my daughter. I recommend them to anyone who asks.

My family has been seeing Dr. Miller and his staff for years. We had Dr. Miller put braces on 3 of our children and we were so pleased with how wonderful their smiles are I even got braces myself as an adult. The staff is wonderful and the whole team is just great! Recently my daughter(who got her braces off 4 years ago) experienced a fainting spell and ended up knocking her front teeth in. I called Ashley from the hospital and her and Dr. Miller were more than accommodating. They got her right in for an emergency appointment and got her fixed right up. She had to get upper braces put back on right then and there. Dr. Miller got her all fixed up immediately and told me what my next steps were to save her smile. I can't thank Dr. Miller and Ashley enough for all their help that day as well as the rest of the amazing staff members!

I had a wonderful experience at Miller Orthodontics. I had braces and and needed a retainer to keep my teeth in place. Eventually, he original retainer was not meeting my needs and a new retainer was needed. Dr. Miller did not charge me for making a new style retainer. Dr. Miller and all the staff at Miller Orthodontic are a supportive and caring group of people.

Three of my kids have gone to Dr Miller for braces or other orthodontic needs. We have been very pleased with the results. The staff is always friendly and they help my kids feel comfortable. The clinic is clean and welcoming. I highly recommend Dr Miller's office!
