C.W. Digges, D.D.S. began his dental practice in Columbia in 1905. His office was located on the 4th floor of the Exchange Bank Building on Broadway (currently the site of the Landmark Bank Building). He served as President of the Missouri Dental Association and as Secretaryof the MDAfor many years.
Ercell L Miller, D.D.S. and his wife moved to Columbia with their two young sonsin 1948 after serving as a dental officer in the United States navy. He joinged Dr. Digges in the Exchange Book Building office and purchased the practice later that year after the untimely death of Dr. Digges
Dr. Ercell Miller moved into his new office building at the corner of 10thand Locust Street, designed by local architect Hurst John, in 1956. The new dental office was the first centrally air conditioned professional office in Columbia and, at the time, was truly state-of-the-art.
Dr. Ercell Millers first son, Douglas, graduated from UMKC School of Dentistry in 1971 and joined his father in the practice in Columbia. Wanting a smaller town to live in, Dr. Douglas Miller started a practice in Fayette, Missouri in 1974. That same year his brother, Lynn, graduated from UMKC school of Dentistry and joined their father in the Columbia practice. Dr. Douglas Miller continued to travel to Columbia one day a week to perform certain special procedures. Thus, Miller Dental Associates was formally formed.
In 2006, Miller Dental Associates moved one block south into a new building at 10th and Elm Street. At the same time, Dr. Doug Miller moved his practice from Fayette into the new office and continued to practice there until his retirement in 2011.
