'What I really love about dentistry is the ability it gives me to help people improve their overall health, not just their mouths, and to make a difference in how they view a visit to the dentist,' says Dr. Michael Jensen of Mill Plain Dental Center. 'I chose to pursue dentistry because of my own positive experiences with my dentist growing up. Now, almost 35 years later, I cant imagine my life without the wonderful relationships Ive made with people in my community because of dentistry.'
'I participate in a local monthly study group, comprised of many different types of dental professionals, which helps bring other ideas, opinions, and treatment options into my practice,' says Dr. Jensen. 'It is always my goal to provide the most up-to-date care to help my patients.'
'My wife and I have always believed that it is important to help our children and their teachers in education since that is really the foundation for the future and our children 's success. I have always been involved in our childrens school helping out as much as possible while practicing dentistry full time.
'My wife has been very passionate and involved in our local school; early on she was practically a full-time volunteer there! Now that the kids are older, the marching band program takes a lot of time, with the season going from August to October almost every weekend. We also support the local Share House for homeless families.'
'I love meeting new people and building relationships with them. Nothing beats helping someone feel proud of their beautiful smile! I enjoy helping fearful patients conquer their anxiety, with a calm and gentle environment, and showing them that we deliver painless care.'
'My time with patients includes cleaning their teeth, delivering anesthetic and fillings. A lot of a patients visit is spent talking about their oral health and how they can keep their smile in great shape.'
'I enjoy seeing a variety of patients ranging from small children to older adults. Helping people and educating them about how they can help themselves without judging or belittling their efforts gives me a lot of satisfaction.'
