Maurice S. Miles, DDS, is a dentist licensed to practice in the state of Maryland since 2002. After obtaining his DDS degree from Howard University in 2001, and completing residency at St. Elizabeths Hospital in Washington DC.
Dr. Miles was appointed to serve as a member of the Maryland Board of Dental Examiners (Maryland Board) in 2008. He served the Maryland Board in several capacities, including Applications Chair, Chair of the Anesthesia Committee and the Discipline Review Committee, and serving as President of the Board in his final two years. In his capacity as a member of the Maryland Board, he was instrumental in seeing legislation pass that allowed the Maryland Board finally to investigate and take administrative action as necessary against dentists who failed to meet the accepted standards for the profession. This legislation was key in ensuring that the Maryland Board could implement its mission of public protection, a position for which Dr. Miles advocated passionately.
In 2008 Dr. Miles, also became a member of the North East Regional Board of Dental Examiners, now known as the Commission on Dental Competency Assessments (CDCA), and continues to serve as an examiner. He has been active as a member of the Curriculum Integrated Format initiative and a member of CDCAs Steering Committee.
Dr. Miles is also a member of American Board of Dental Examiners (ADEX), and serves as a member of its House of Representatives. He also serves as Chair the ADEXs International Committee. It is through this organization that Dr. Miles made a significant contribution to the professional of dentistry worldwide.
While working in an active dental practice, serving as president of the Maryland Board, and dedicating time to his family, Dr. Miles spent countless volunteer hours on behalf of CDCA to bring the ADEX exam to an international level in the country of Jamaica. As reported in May of 2015, CDCA administered the ADEX dental examination for the first time at the University of Technology. This took place after Jamaica Minister of Health, Dr. Fenton Ferguson, announced in parliament that the ADEX exam administered by the CDCA would be required for dental licensure in Jamaica.
Dr. Miles was instrumental in facilitating the necessary communications between the Commonwealth of Jamaica and the CDCA, which began in early 2014, in order to make this vision a reality. With Dr. Miles vision and dedication, he negotiated with Jamaican government and universities to establish a standardized dental licensure examination through CDCA. Now, Jamaican dentists will take the same standardized licensing examination that more than 40 states in United States accept as their standard, Twenty-three dental candidates, along with two faculty members and a locally registered dentist, participated in the examination over the three-day period at the University of Technology dental clinic, along with Dr. Miles and his team of examiners from the United States.
CDCA noted that the examination received a special visit from The Most Honorable Portia Simpson Miller, Jamaican Prime Minister, who observed a portion of the patient-based clinical dental examination. During her visit, she met many of the CDCA examiners. Further, Dr. Irving McKenzie, Dean of the College of Oral Health Sciences at the University of Technology stated that, This is a great moment in history for Jamaica, fulfilling the Minister of Healths vision to have an examination body of the highest caliber administer our [dental] licensing examination. This is also an important moment for the University of Technology. In addition to Jamaica, Dr. Miles hopes to collaborate with other Caribbean countries to bring them the highest level of licensure standards available.

I was referred to this office by a family friend, and I recently went to Miles of Smiles for a consultation. The office is superbly clean, the receptionist was professional, the dentist was extremely knowledgeable and answered all my concerns and I was not rushed. I like the fact that he's Caribbean like me. I return early next month for my first round service, and I'm hoping I'll have the same pleasant experience all while getting my mouth issues professionally and properly corrected. So far I recommend this doctor and their office! More to follow in a few weeks once I get service performed. Look out for another review from me.

The professionalism of the staff Accompanied by the warm inviting setting that helps relax you is a plus. Dr. Miles greets you with a big smile and immediately makes you feel at ease. He does not rush through his consultation time with you. He takes the time to listen to you and explains everything to ensure you understand the importance of consistent oral care. EVERYONE gave me a 5-Star Experience from the time I entered the office to my exit after my appointment. I felt very special and well treated. I am grateful for finding a dentist who really cares about his patients and the care of their teeth and comfort. I have been a patient of Dr Miles for the past few years. To say he was caring, compassionate and excellent in his profession would barely cover my experiences with Dr. Miles. He never hurries his patients and always converses with a smile and a genuine sense of humor. When I fell and cracked three front teeth, he first asked how I was feeling. Then he explained what would need to be done. Twice he sent back one of the crowns to the lab, not satisfied that it met his standards. His staff is always welcoming. They are the frontline workers that compliment his practice. I recommend Miles of Smiles without hesitation.

I've been a patient of Dr. Miles for over 5 years. Everything thing about my experience at Miles of Smiles Cosmetic and Family Dentistry is always exceptional. The office space is clean, up-to date and posh. The technology and equipment used is top of the line. I never wait longer than 5 minutes to be seen. Dr. Miles is pleasant, professional and thorough. He aims to educate, correct any issues and make you as comfortable as possible. Dr. Smith performed my cleaning, and she was super gentle, kind, professional and pleasant. As someone who typically dislikes going to the dentist, I always have a great experience here.

Impressive from the point of entry, and replete throughout quite handsome furnishings. Calming music and smiling, pleasant staff contributed to the ambience and positive atmosphere. As a new patient, the dentists consulted with me and promptly sourced my pain issue. I had visited my primary dentist and an endodontist prior to visiting Miles of Smiles who were unable to make the determination. I like that I was presented all my treatment options which shows that the patient is respected as having a voice/vote in one's medical decisions. This practice won me over on the first visit.
