Summer is the time for outdoor sports and you can protect your teeth, cheeks, gums and lips with a low-cost mouth guard. It could save you from a knocked out or chipped tooth, and it will prevent you from grinding your teeth during the big game.
No really, just dont. Weve all seen someone open a bottle with their teeth. An amazing feat? Nope, but a great way to cause micro fractures in your teeth. Using your teeth to rip open potato chip bags or to crush ice are also no nos.
The short answer is no. You most likely cannot sunburn your teeth. Shwew! Your lips on the other hand can sunburn. In fact, your lips might be the most susceptible to sunburn. Its important not to rely on regular sunscreen to protect your lips, choose a lip balm with a minimum of SPF 15. It is designed for your lips, and it will stick better. And just like with sunscreen, remember to reapply it every couple hours.
There are lots of reasons to smile all summer long. Evidence suggests that smiling reduces stress and helps your heart. So show those teeth! Brush twice a day, floss daily and smile big. You'll feel better when you do.

I am always SO nervous for any dental appointment. However this was so different from the start. Kayla was extremely sympathetic and accommodating when it came to scheduling me right away. Amy explained everything before she did it and made sure I was 100% comfortable the entire time. On top of that, they gave an amazing discount because my dental insurance wasn't contracted. So pleased to say the least!

I can't begin to tell how please I am with Dr. Krista Kukarans DDS @ Waukon's Midwest Dental Clinic. She has seen me through some difficult dental problems. She and her team have always treated me with the very best of care. That's why I'm so surprised to find out that she is leaving. How could Midwest Dental let this talented women leave is beyond me!

Coral is awesome! Her pleasant personality and professionalism put you at ease. The entire staff appears to put the patient first. I would like to see them offer Fridays. This would perhaps help with having to schedule appointments so far out.

Two appointments, two busts. Made first time appointment with dentist at Midwest dental back in December for an early February date. Showed up and was informed the dentist I had appointment with departed in January and they had no record of me. Waukon is 20 miles from my location so I was a bit irritated. Then I made another appointment with one of the other dentists due to a broken tooth and was given a date a week later. I showed up again, but this time was told the appointment was one month later, that I made the mistake. While I may have made the error, they knew it was for a broken tooth and scheduled me that far out. In general, I am not a happy camper with Midwest Dental
