Summer is the time for outdoor sports and you can protect your teeth, cheeks, gums and lips with a low-cost mouth guard. It could save you from a knocked out or chipped tooth, and it will prevent you from grinding your teeth during the big game.
No really, just dont. Weve all seen someone open a bottle with their teeth. An amazing feat? Nope, but a great way to cause micro fractures in your teeth. Using your teeth to rip open potato chip bags or to crush ice are also no nos.
The short answer is no. You most likely cannot sunburn your teeth. Shwew! Your lips on the other hand can sunburn. In fact, your lips might be the most susceptible to sunburn. Its important not to rely on regular sunscreen to protect your lips, choose a lip balm with a minimum of SPF 15. It is designed for your lips, and it will stick better. And just like with sunscreen, remember to reapply it every couple hours.
There are lots of reasons to smile all summer long. Evidence suggests that smiling reduces stress and helps your heart. So show those teeth! Brush twice a day, floss daily and smile big. You'll feel better when you do.

I needed a crown and was worried it could hurt. I went in for the 1st visit where they make my temporary crown and get the tooth ready. The staff was all wonderful and it didn't hurt a bit! Thank you Dr. K and staff!

Having an old crown replaced was no fun, but Dr. Long and Amanda were so patient and gentle with me and they took great care to make me feel comfortable. Amanda made my temporary replacement on the spot and it fits perfectly. And the two of them took their time and compared color samples to make sure my permanent crown matches my other teeth. The whole Midwest team is so professional!

I saw Dr. Long and his assistant Amanda and they were phenomenal. It had been quite some time since I saw a dentist. There was not judgement and the both were very informative on my questions and concerns. Amanda was efficient in doing my X-rays and limiting my discomfort. Thank you for exceeding in what you do.

Dr. Longe is an amazing dentist. My husband and I had gone to an initial dental appointment in Sister Bay and were given a litany of work that needed to be done. An expense averaging $3500 a piece. So we decided to to to Midwest Dental and saw Dr. Longe for a second opinion, who in turn told each of us we had minor work to be done. Dr. Longe fixed a cracked front tooth that looks amazing. He is very particular and meticulous in his work. He even did some extra filing of some of my rough edges on my front teeth. He completely changed my smile. I am so pleased with him. He is not a money hungry dentist and is very practical with what needs to be done with his patients. Tracee his dental assistant was equally amazing and entertaining. So appreciative of Midwest Dental.

Nicole did an amazing job! Yes, it was a routine cleaning, but she was friendly, professional and thorough! She gave me recommendations to care for my teeth that I will definitely adopt. I'm only sorry I can only come in every six months!

They do not advise patients to retrieve their own records and X-rays. No other dentist we have ever used has expected the patient to bring their own records. Even after asking for assistance with an unexpected large bill for X-rays that were not due yet.
