Is an upper and lower occlusal splint that has a fixed vertical opening and the lower jaw is held forward by a fixed upper piece which pushes the fins forward. This push type device does not work well for patients who want to move their jaw laterally or left to right.

Is a thinner plastic device that fits directly over the upper and lower teeth and is designed to advance the jaw and open the bite vertically. Advancement is accomplished by placing the plastic bands on each side of the device. This device allows comfort and ease of movement in lateral positions.

My Oral Device has been a life changer for me and my spouse certainly approves. Sleep filled nights and waking more rested than ever. Wish I had found MDSMI sooner.

Dr. Gotsis is a very thoughtful, well-researched, and highly specialized expert in sleep medicine. As a physician, I feel that there is a major bias in the field towards CPAP machines which have huge issues with compliance. I strongly recommend anyone on CPAP at least due a consultation with Dr. Gotsis to figure out their options.

Dr. Gotsis is very thorough in explaining how the oral appliance will work. He made sure my insurance approved coverage. He has called several times to see how I am getting along with it (I live 70 miles one way) I was referred to him by my heart specialist, who is so thrilled with the oral appliance results for my sleep apnea. My husband is very thankful too!

Dr. Gotsis explained the process in great detail. He understood my desire for the oral appliance since I previously had surgery and had previously used a CPAP. Dr. Gotsis is a pleasure to work with.

I am very grateful to Dr. Gotsis. In addition of being very knowledgeable, he was very detailed and interested in understanding and taking care of my case. As part of the treatment, he recommended oral devices that significantly helped to resolve my issue. I would strongly recommend Dr. Gotsis!

I called more than one clinic regarding costs, but they were the only ones that developed an estimate based on my current coverage and deductible. Dr. Gotsis was personable and knowledgeable about the advances in treating sleep apnea with an oral device. He is the third provider I've been treated by, but the first to explain how the features of my teeth and jaw position cause my obstructive sleep apnea. I was able to use an app to record how gradually calibrating the device decreased my snoring and improved my sleep. I'm just now starting to wake up rested after years of dealing with what had become a debilitating condition.

Dr. Gotsis is the best. I'm so glad there was an alternative to CPAP and he was able to assist. As a healthcare professional myself, I highly recommend Dr. Gotsis and investigating if you are a candidate for an oral sleep device as an alternative to CPAP
