Summer is the time for outdoor sports and you can protect your teeth, cheeks, gums and lips with a low-cost mouth guard. It could save you from a knocked out or chipped tooth, and it will prevent you from grinding your teeth during the big game.

The short answer is no. You most likely cannot sunburn your teeth. Shwew! Your lips on the other hand can sunburn. In fact, your lips might be the most susceptible to sunburn. Its important not to rely on regular sunscreen to protect your lips, choose a lip balm with a minimum of SPF 15. It is designed for your lips, and it will stick better. And just like with sunscreen, remember to reapply it every couple hours.
There are lots of reasons to smile all summer long. Evidence suggests that smiling reduces stress and helps your heart. So show those teeth! Brush twice a day, floss daily and smile big. You'll feel better when you do.

The exam was very thorough and pleasant. The hygienist took a full set of x-rays and then performed a detailed examination of gums and teeth. Results were reviewed with Dr. Mettman, and a cleaning and hygiene plan was established. My wife and I have been satisfied patients at Midwest Dental for decades and highly recommend all of their services.

There are some of the most awesome people that work here. From the Dentist to the Dental Hygienist to the ladies that work in the billing/insurance area to the front desk! Everyone is so nice and this is the only place I will ever go to. Thank you all

Dentist always was a nervous event until I met Dr. Mettman and his crew. Had to have surgery and dentures, the complete situation was made very comfortable overall. The dentist and his crew were excellent, professional and really compassionate throughout the complete process. I now can eat and smile again, my dentures fit fantastic and Dr. Mettan is honest and did a excellent job. The staff are fantastic, makes the complete process very comfortable and also very caring. I will Highly recommend this dentist office and Dr Mettman his group.

Dr. Chambers and Danielle did a great job. They worked together beautifully and seemed to read each other's mind. My only less than stellar thought is because of the aggressiveness of the billing office. I understand the importance of prompt payment, but can they not wait until the insurance claim is settled?

Dr. Mettman's bedside manner is the reason that I keep coming back. Yesterday, I left the office crying because of how compassionate and understanding he was about my current lack of confidence in my smile and the condition of my teeth. He was so kind, supportive, and encouraging in a way that I have never experienced with a dental provider.
