Summer is the time for outdoor sports and you can protect your teeth, cheeks, gums and lips with a low-cost mouth guard. It could save you from a knocked out or chipped tooth, and it will prevent you from grinding your teeth during the big game.
No really, just dont. Weve all seen someone open a bottle with their teeth. An amazing feat? Nope, but a great way to cause micro fractures in your teeth. Using your teeth to rip open potato chip bags or to crush ice are also no nos.
The short answer is no. You most likely cannot sunburn your teeth. Shwew! Your lips on the other hand can sunburn. In fact, your lips might be the most susceptible to sunburn. Its important not to rely on regular sunscreen to protect your lips, choose a lip balm with a minimum of SPF 15. It is designed for your lips, and it will stick better. And just like with sunscreen, remember to reapply it every couple hours.
There are lots of reasons to smile all summer long. Evidence suggests that smiling reduces stress and helps your heart. So show those teeth! Brush twice a day, floss daily and smile big. You'll feel better when you do.

Update: I was lucky enough to have another Hygienist for a cleaning, Thao! She made sure I understood everything happening, comforted any fears, and was the best to chat with! Front staff, especially Josh, always great me with a warm hello, Sara my hygienist is so knowledgeable and a magician! I've seen both Dr. McBride and Dr. Teahen and they are so great at explaining things and making sure I feel comfortable. Christy the dental assistant is so friendly and great at what she does! Also a big plus is they offer Botox! When going through finances Jess was great at breaking everything down for me. Couldn't recommend this office enough!

Outstanding services provided with thorough exam. The dental hygienist rendering dental services (Sara) explains in great detail everything she does before and the next procedure to be done. The atmosphere is pleasant at the dental office with outstanding guest services from the front desk clerks as well. Awesome!!!!!

Take heed or due diligence in your billing (request receipts and copies of accumulative ledgers) after each appointment and insurance payments with a specific focus on the coding and what is charged (i.e. balance billing) above the maximum allowed by insurance. Unfortunately, Midwest has lost future revenues from a family of 4 with insurance coverage that would have far exceeded the balance billing over max allowed that occurred.

This is now my second visit in a month. Dr. Teahen checked in with me during both procedures to insure my comfort level was at a maximum. She is gentle but gets her work done efficiently and effectively! Dr. Teahen is the type of dentist that cares about her patients first. Thao my hygienist was extremely knowledgeable and made me feel very comfortable both visits. She always offered me time to break or ask questions. The front desk staff is awesome at helping understand insurance policies and all the different types of work that gets done. What a professional dental office. Honestly can't wait to go see them again.

Dr. McBride and staff are the bees knees that'll put your mind at ease. I've had mostly negative experiences at dentists over the years, but not any longer. Glad I found Midwest Dental.

This is the BEST dentist I've ever gone to. I've always been scared of them, but Sara and Dr McBride were amazing. They listened, answered questions, made me comfortable. They really care and it shows! If you need a dentist I cannot recommend Midwest dental enough.

I had an incredibly educational visit to the dentist today. My hygienist, Thao, kept me informed of the tools she was using, potential issues she was looking for, and identified (in common terms) what she was seeing. She also routinely asked me how I was doing and if I had any questions. She showed me my X-rays, and we discussed the photos of my teeth. All in all, most informative and friendly dental visit I've ever had. Dr. McBride was also super friendly and easy to talk to. I felt well cared for and he took his time to get to know me (and my teeth!) Definitely recommend!
