Dr. James Strawn DDS has lived in Florida most of his life. His parents, both Florida natives, moved back to the state when he was 7. He attended dental school at Virginia Commonwealth University because Florida did not have a dental school. After serving as a dentist in the Air Force for two years, he returned to Florida to open a practice. As a youngster, Okeechobee was the first place he lived. He came to Fort Pierce to shop and fish and had fond memories. When he came down to take the Florida (Dental) Boards, Fort Pierce was one of the first places he looked into and decided it was the perfect place. Dr. Strawn opened his practice over 25 years ago.
Dr. Strawn has watched the field evolve for 37 years. We educated people on theimportance of preventive care,of fluoride and regular checkups, says Dr. Strawn. We now havethe luxury of having time totake care of other emergenciesand repair work. Therehas been an advancement indental materials and we have now high-tech tooth-coloredmaterials and porcelains. The materials are much moreaesthetic. The result is thatwe are able to use porcelainon the front teeth and makethem look brand new, removingcolor defects and defectsin size and shape. It can be a life-changer, getting a straighter, whiter smile so they feel good when theyre out with friends or at work. Remaking a smile is the most satisfying part of my practice.
Dr. Strawn emphasizes a friendly touch and has been in one area his whole practice career. It is not uncommon for Dr. Strawn to treat the kids and grand kids of people he served way back. He deeply values the relationships that have been built, and always welcomes new patients. Its a warm, family atmosphere. The staff are all good friends and theres a nice team spirit that makes people more relaxed. They feel the warmth and caring. That is often missing in the health care field, but not at Midway Dental Center!

Dental crowns are one of the many ways to restore your teeth to their natural state. Also called dental caps or covers, they are placed over damaged teeth. Dentists may also use dental crowns to support dental bridges or as a crown to restore dental implants.
Ceramic dental crowns are arguably the best. They are exceptionally strong and offer superb aesthetics. They can bear up to chewing and biting forces just like natural teeth. They also look almost like your natural teeth.
If you want dental crowns that deliver a natural look and can stand the test of time, you cant go wrong with porcelain fused to metal crowns. The only shortcoming of these crowns is that the porcelain fused to metal part may chip off, undermining the aesthetics.
