Great experience! I hadn't been to a dentist in several (5+) years, however the MFD team made the experience painless and fast! The front desk made communication and scheduling extremely easy. My hygienist, Denise, made sure I was comfortable throughout the procedure and left my teeth feeling super clean. Dr. Sorenson was extremely knowledgeable and provided several recommendations to keep my oral hygiene in shape! Thanks all!

I have been a customer on the Dentist and the Ortho side for almost 4 years. First of all I had to get my ortho work corrected several times. 3 retainers and I was sent a bill for $3000 plus court cost. My braces have been off for almost a whole year and I have been a loyal patient. I am baffled and insulted that they would not write off whatever that balance is and move on. That they would file a judgement against me. My mouth still needs to be corrected as I need to have my caps redone the retainer in the back of my mouth done. I have even consider leaving after all of the years that I've been with them because of this. If you get Ortho work, please finance through a bank and not in house. They will file a judgement against you even if you have had issues. Today 09/09/22 I received more bad news about my dental work performed by Midlothian Family dentistry and Dr. Byrd. The bonded retainers that were placed behind my teeth have caused much damage and I trusted Midlothian Family dentistry and Dr. Byrd with my investment and found out that I have to have $4500 worth of dental work redone. The wire was the wrong wire used to keep my teeth from shifting, the root canal performed is awful and my new orthodontist gasped because he said they did not do a good job. So I spend thousand of dollars in 2015 to 2017. I have spoke to several people about my experience and they did nothing to fix the issue. I will move forward with my next steps to rectify this issue.

I had a problem tooth extracted before my insurance would end do to becoming disabled. I kept feeling pain but I thought it was a ghost tooth type thing. Well it wasn't. Not all of the tooth was removed apparently and has cut through my gums and is rough. I explained this and made an appointment. I just got a call from Mary and she told me I need insurance. I asked why when the service was already paid for. She then tried to act like she couldn't find in my charts that the tooth was pulled there. I was a patient there for over 20 years. I asked to speak with Dr. Sorenson and she hung up on me because I challenged her for acting like she couldn't find my stuff. At this point I'm in pain and angry. I guess I need a lawyer. This place used to be the best but the newer people have ruined the atmosphere there. I felt it for some time but overlooked because of Dr. Sorenson but this is just too much.

Dr. Hoover and Allison are so warm and friendly. I look forward to seeing them every six months for my checkup and cleaning. I completely trust them with my dental health. Going to be leaving RVA and will miss the 5 star care and the great atmosphere and friendships. Highly recommend Midlothian Dental.

Absolute 5 star experience. I had my first ever cavity needing to be filled and Dr. Christofakis and his assistant Ashley were personable, kind, and reassuring. Not a moment of stress or anxiety in a potentially unpleasant appointment. Please give them a raise :)

I was an established patient and had been happy with the practice for 2 years. Last month I had my 6 month checkup scheduled for 8:00 am. The day before I received a voicemail at 2:30 letting me know that they needed my new insurance information. I am an IT Professional for a multi-million dollar global organization, and we were having a major issue that day. I was in a very important meeting when I got the call and could not answer. I was however able to read the message transcription on my phone that asked me to contact them by 5:00. Then I received another call, a text, and another call in less than 1 hour. I had to excuse myself from the meeting to answer because this was bordering on harassment and distracting me from resolving an issue so critical to my employer that I worked on what was supposed to have been a vacation day (not complaining). I apologized for missing the call, explained the situation, and asked this person to bear with me while I accessed my insurance info. She was rude and impatient. I provided the information, rejoined my meeting and received yet another call! I texted back and asked that they please stop! My hygienist was the absolute best. While we were waiting for the dentist to come in she offered to make my next appointment, and looked very concerned when I told her I would not be returning. I didn't want her to think it was anything she'd done, and shared my experience from the day before. I showed her the calls and texts, and she took my concerns very seriously. She said the dentist would want to know and went to talk to both the dentist and the office manager. The dentist came in and didn't mention it. After he left she said that he preferred to have the office manager handle it. Fair enough, that's her job. The office manager came in and was aggressive and defensive from the moment she walked in. She told me that "it wasn't fair to other patients for them to hold an appointment if someone didn't have insurance." That told me that patients = profit and profit is more important. By the way, I have NEVER carried a balance or needed to make payment arrangements. I've paid a lot out of pocket to this practice. The office manager went on to defend her staff, stating they had to have the insurance information 24 hours before appointments. My appointment was at 8 am and they began calling at 2:30 the day before. That's NOT 24 hours. She stated that they have over 100 patients a day, blah, blah, blah. The office manager did not even attempt to fake empathy, concern or offer an apology. It was apparent to me that I was not important as a patient or a person, I am just revenue, and I gathered my things to get out of there and away from her. The hygienist walked me to the door and apologized. I know that the office manager's response to this review will attempt to turn this around and proclaim that they care about the patients. Don't be fooled.

I've heard great things about here, but unfortunately, I don't think I will be experiencing that. I called for a cash price. I was told approx. $300 just to be seen and have x-rays. They will not allow other recent x-rays to be bought in. Also will not give approximate OOP costs for stuff needed done. To pay $300 just to be told what my OOP costs are is not exactly cool. Would highly recommend at least having an estimate for folks who know what they need and then can decide if they want to pay the comprehensive evaluation cost.

I went in to Midlothian Dental today for a pain I have on my right side of my jaw. It is painful to open my mouth, chew, and oddly enough swallow. After seeing the dental assistant with an exam and xrays, Iwas seen by the Dr. After my exam with the Dr, I went to the appointment desk and was notified my next appointment to take care of my pain would be March 11th 2022. I am certainly glad I was not bleeding out or I would be left for dead. So, my dentist wants me to go on in pain for another 50 or so days. I recommend if you have a dental emergency and pain, to not go to these folks. Nothing for pain, just a 50 day wait for a follow appointment.

I have been with Dr. Sorenson since his first year of practice and have followed him to his Midlothian office over the last 35 plus years even though I live in Richmond and it is a 45 minute drive. He is the very best dentist in the Richmond area. You will be pleased! Ed Woodward
