We pride ourselves in having extremely low staff turnover. Because of that, youll be seeing the same people in the office for all of your visits. Over time, youll become more familiar with our front desk team, our skilled hygienists, and the other wonderful individuals who will work to make sure you have an excellent dental experience. Having the same people working with you during your regular dental visits will help make even the more extensive treatments more enjoyable.
Some patients have very basic dental needs, only needing a regular checkup and cleaning every six months. In other cases, the smile has been completely compromised and needs to be repaired with a combination of crowns, fillings, dental implants, and various other restorations. Our vast array of services makes it easy for us to create a complete treatment plan that fully addresses your needs and allow you to enjoy a dazzling, healthy smile again.
For over 30 years, Dr. Walter Mick has provided comprehensive dental care for people in and around Reynoldsburg and the Columbus area. Dr. Mick truly loves interacting with his patients and is passionate about problem-solving. The bigger your dental concern, the more Dr. Mick will enjoy finding all the right pieces to complete the puzzle. Regardless of your situation, Dr. Micks skilled, careful treatment will exceed even your highest expectations.
Dr. Mick studied at Miami University in Oxford, OH, receiving a BA in zoology in 1983. He then earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from The Ohio State University School of Dentistry in 1987.After finishing school, Dr. Mick completed his general practice residency at University Hospitals of The Ohio State University in Columbus, OH, where he provided care for medically compromised patients. He has also participated in numerous continuing education and advanced study programs, primarily focusing on implant and complex restorative dentistry, including courses through the Midwest Implant Institute, Miami Anatomic Research Center, Spectrum Dental Society, NobelBioCare Center, and the Perio Implant Institute.
Dr. Mick grew up in nearby Thornville, OH and is happily married with four grown children. Dr. Mick is a self-proclaimed channel surfer, but swears he can never surf past either of the first twoGodfathermovies. When hes not relaxing with his family, Dr. Mick enjoys running, weightlifting, boating, flyfishing, water skiing, and any and all other water sports.He is also an avid cook with a passion for chili peppers.
Our staff turnover rate at Mick Family Dental Care is extremely low; its not at all uncommon for team members to stay with us for years. That means that youll soon become familiar with the faces that work at our practice, so youll always have someone that you feel comfortable coming to with your questions and concerns. JoLynn has been an integral part of our practice for nearly 15 years. She appreciates the long term relationships with patients who are like family. She is happily married with four grown children. She spends her free time running, weight training, boating, water skiing, travelling, relaxing with good books and movies.
Heather has been with Mick Family Dental Care since 1997. She holds a BS in dental hygiene from The Ohio State University School of Dentistry, and she continues to develop and maintain her skills. Heather loves working with our patients to help them achieve optimal oral health.
Outside the dental office, Heather is happily married with two daughters, Lilly and Abby. She loves traveling, spending time with her family, boating at Lake Cumberland, and keeping up with Buckeye Football!
Tessa has been greeting our patients with a friendly smile and kind word since 2011. She specializes in helping even the most apprehensive patients feel comfortable during their visit, and patients appreciate her kindness and care.
Outside the dental office, Tessa is happily married and has three children. She enjoys spending time with her family, engaging in various church activities, reading, and traveling. Tessa also spends time with her twin sister, who is also her lifelong best friend.
As an assistant, Sarah thinks there are so many rewarding moments in the dental profession, like forming lifelong relationships with patients and seeing their smiles transform for the better! At home, Sarah is a proud Air Force wife to her husband Levi, and they have two wonderful sons named Zander and Xavier. Her biggest hobbies include working out, snowboarding, traveling, camping, hiking, and boating. Most of all, she loves spending quality time with her family and her husbands family! Shes also very skilled in dance, having taken lessons for well over a decade in nine different genres.

I can't say enough good things about Dr. Mick and his incredible team. The words that come to mind are caring, compassionate, non-judging, professional, down-to-earth and patient focused. I also have to say he's a bit of a perfectionist because he doesn't settle for less than an exceptional outcome. They have been absolutely life changing for me! My fear of dentists has made me avoid a lot of dental care until the pain became extreme and there was no other choice. Yes, it's irrational but real at the same time and they understand that. By the time I found Dr. Mick, my avoidance over many years meant that I needed a lot of work. Thanks to his gentle and caring nature we have spent the past year fixing my smile and getting my mouth in a healthier state. With compassion and sedation when needed they have given me confidence that allows me to go there without anxiety. I only hope that someone else gets benefit from my experience through this review, so they don't waste all the years that I did. Thank you Dr Mick and everyone at Mick Family Dental for exceptional care and all of your hard work. You are the best!

I don't know that it's possible to have a good experience at the dentist, but this is probably as close as it gets. I have pretty bad anxiety about dental care, so much that I hadn't been to the dentist in at least 6 years. Dr. Mick skipped all the lectures, there was no shame, straight to making a plan to get everything fixed. He doesn't hesitate to provide nitrous or sedation if you ask and there's no shame about that either. He's very personable, making jokes and overall making the whole thing feel more relaxed. The people who work in the office are also amazing. They are very quick to get an accurate estimate before procedures so you don't go in getting more work done than you can afford. They also do what they can to get you in asap if that's what you need. I'm thrilled to have found somewhere that I'm willing to keep going to rather than avoiding dental care until it's an emergency.

Note to Dentist; Something to keep in mind. As a patient shouldn't gloss over consent forms, neither should a dentist. As there is a short interview prior to consultation, this information should be looked over to avoid uncomfortable experiences. Not everyone is going to be consenting to a photoshoot of them and their mouth for your promotional purposes. Some only want quality dentistry, which I'm sure you may provide given your other reviews, however I will find mine elsewhere. I left feeling totally uncomfortable and angry that my time and money had been wasted. I'm sure this wasn't intended on your part but it is a consequence of negligence regarding patient consent. In response to the response: If that was the case, patients wouldn't be asked to consent to you using the photographs however you see fit. Waiving their right to dispute how your practice uses their image. Either way, that is not the point.

I have traveled the world and experienced many dentists. I retired and setteled near Columbus. I have been a patient of Dr. Mick for 20 years and consider him to be by far the best dentist I have known. My engagements with Dr. Mick and his staff over the years have always been highly competent and professional. I highly reccommend his services.

I have not been to a dentist for years. My wife did research and found Mick family dental highly recommended. They have been patient, non-judgemental and very responsive to my needs and apprehension. A lot has changed over the years in dentistry and it is not the 1980's anymore and this practice exemplifies that. I highly recommend them if you have any kind of fear or concern about dental visits. They are going at my pace to get years of neglect (all on my part) corrected.

Dr. Mick and the staff deserve a metal! They are super fast and thorough but most of all, they don't make you feel like an outcast because you have had bad experiences in the past. I am terrified of dental tools but when I am there, with a little help, they are amazing with me and I would highly recommend anyone! I cannot thank the staff enough!!!

I love Dr. Mick and the staff! I chipped my tooth on Sunday and the receptionist Joanna got me 2 appointments today to get my teeth cleaned and my tooth filled. The staff is so friendly and Dr. Mick is so funny and did a great job on my tooth! Thank you Thank you

Dr. Mick performed a total implant bridge upper and lower for me this year. I finished the procedure today and could not be happier with the results! He and his staff are true professionals and provided me with first rate care throughout my treatment. The practice is in a very attractive office setting in Reynoldburg and they utilize modern state of the art equipment and techniques. I am pretty particular when choosing goods and services and Dr. Mick's practices met and in most cases exceeded my expectations. I recommend these professionals with enthusiasm and without reservation. Thanks again to them for taking care of me!!

I've been going to Dr. Mick since I was 2! The entire staff is friendly and kind. I don't think I'll trust anyone else with my teeth. My kids will be seeing Dr. Mick also. I enjoy the family feeling yet professional atmosphere. You won't be disappointed if you go to this dental practice!

If you have fears about going to the dentist this is the place for you! I absolutely love Dr. Mick and Heather (hygienist)! They take EXCELLENT care of me. They take me fears into consideration and help me through them. They make me feel safe while I am there. They are understanding of people who fear the denist as I do. Mick Family Dental is the best. I have been coming here since I was born, or rather, since I had teeth. Dr. Mick and his team are so wonderfully warm and have taken such great care of me and my family over the years. I moved to California about 4 years ago, and I still come to see Dr. Mick every time I am home visiting my family because I have had such a hard time finding a dentist. Everyone else I have tried to see either over-diagnosis or tries to over-treat, and I have left many dental offices feeling very disappointed and uncared for. Dr. Mick is very fair and honest, and always has his patients' best interest in mind. You cannot find this level of care anywhere else, which is why I fly across the country for my dental care.
